GOOD EVENING.

PRESIDENT ARCHAMBAULT AND DR.

WALDRIP, IF YOU WILL, PLEASE COME DOWN TO THE STAGE.

I APPRECIATE IT.

TONIGHT, I AM PLEASED TO INTRODUCE YOU TO AN INCREDIBLE FRISCO ISD EMPLOYEE WHO DOESN'T KNOW THAT THEY'RE GETTING THIS AWARD, BUT THEY ARE HERE MR..

[00:05:02]

JOHN BODY, WILL YOU PLEASE COME TO THE STAGE? THIS JOHN BODY.

HE WAS SELECTED BY THE INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT TEAM TO BE THIS MONTH'S RECIPIENT .

JOHN GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND TO SUPPORT BOTH OUR CAMPUS STAFF AND OUR STUDENTS TO ENSURE EVERYONE IS SAFE AND SECURE.

JOHN IS THE DIRECTOR OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT, AND IS KNOWN FOR HIS WILLINGNESS AND READINESS TO SUPPORT FISD.

I DON'T THINK YOU REALLY KNEW WHAT HE WAS GETTING INTO WHEN HE ACCEPTED THIS JOB.

HIS RECOMMENDATIONS SAY THAT HE GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND TO ASSIST OTHERS WHEN IN NEED.

ON BEHALF OF FRISCO ISD, THANK YOU FOR MAKING A DIFFERENCE TO OUR DISTRICT.

CONGRATULATIONS.

WE WILL NOW MOVE ON TO ITEM FOUR, COMMUNITY PARTNER PRESENTATION, MRS.

[4. Community partner presentation]

MCKUNE.

THANK YOU, I'D LIKE TO INTRODUCE THE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY RELATIONS, ALISON MILLER, TO THE PODIUM.

PRESIDENT ARCHAMBAULT, DR.

WALDRIP, ISD AND SCHOOL BOARD, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALLOWING US TO RECOGNIZE OUR PARTNERS AT EACH SCHOOL BOARD MEETING.

TONIGHT, WE HAVE TACO SHACK WITH THAT.

SO I WANT TO TELL YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT THEY'RE DOING FOR OUR STUDENTS IN FRISCO ISD.

ONE OF THE ESSENTIAL AND MOST VITAL PIECES TO A TRANSITION PROGRAM AND THE SUCCESS OF ITS STUDENT INTERNS ARE THE COMMUNITY PARTNERS AND COLLABORATORS THAT PROVIDE INTERNSHIPS AND WORK BASED LEARNING EXPERIENCE OUTSIDE OF THE TRADITIONAL CLASSROOM.

TACO SHACK FRISCO HAS JOINED WITH FRISCO ISD INSPIRE STAFF TO BUILD ONE OF OUR MOST DEDICATED AND VALUABLE PARTNERSHIPS FOR STUDENTS TO GAIN VOCATIONAL SKILLS IN THE FOOD SERVICE INDUSTRY AND MEAL PREPARATION.

THE MANAGER, CHRIS, AND THE LUNCH CREW, JONATHAN, ANNA AND MARIAM WORKED DIRECTLY WITH ASPIRING INTERNS TO TRAIN THEM ON VARIOUS SKILLS, SUCH AS PREPARING INDIVIDUAL PORTIONS OF SALSA, MIXING INGREDIENTS, STOCKING SUPPLIES AND DINING ROOM SANITATION.

AS THE INTERNS BECOME PROFICIENT WITH INTRODUCTORY SKILLS, THE STAFF ENCOURAGE THEM TO EXPAND THEIR ABILITIES TO LEARN NEW TASKS.

AT THE END OF THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR TACO SHACK FRISCO HOSTED AN END OF THE YEAR CELEBRATION TO HIGHLIGHT ASPIRE INTERN ACHIEVEMENTS.

FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF ASPIRE INTERNS AND FISD STAFF AND COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS WERE INVITED TO ENJOY TACO LUNCH DURING THE LAST WEEK OF INSTRUCTION.

ASPIRE INTERNS PREPARED AND SERVED CLOSE TO 200 TACOS IN A TWO HOUR LUNCH.

YOU KNOW WHAT? IT'S TACO TUESDAY.

I JUST REALIZED THAT.

ASPIRE INTERNS.

WHAT? OH, IT'S MONDAY, DANG.

HEY, BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS YOU DIDN'T MISS TACO TUESDAY, IT'S TOMORROW.

AND IT'S TOMORROW, TACO SHACK FRISCO, THERE YOU GO.

WOW.

OK, I'M GLAD I WAS HERE FOR YOU ALL.

ASPIRE INTERNS PREPARED AND SERVED CLOSE TO 200 TACOS IN A TWO HOUR LUNCH PERIOD WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE RESTAURANT STAFF.

THIS WAS AN EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL EVENT THAT WE HOPE TO EXPAND INTO FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES.

WE'RE VERY PROUD TO BE ABLE TO SAY THAT AN INSPIRE GRADUATE WAS HIRED AND IS NOW WORKING PART TIME AT TACO SHACK FRISCO.

THE MANAGER NOTICED HIS FOCUS AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL DURING HIS INTERNSHIP.

HE QUICKLY OFFERED THE INTERN A JOB AND HE IS NOW A VALUABLE MEMBER OF THE TACO SHACK FRISCO TEAM.

WE'D LIKE TO SAY THANK YOU TO CHRIS AND TACO SHACK FRISCO FOR YOUR PARTNERSHIP AND THE INVALUABLE EXPERIENCE AND OPPORTUNITIES THAT YOU PROVIDE OUR ASPIRING STUDENTS LIKE CHRIS.

WE, TOO, LOOK FORWARD TO GROWING THIS PARTNERSHIP THIS SCHOOL YEAR.

AT THIS TIME, I'D LIKE TO ASK SUPERINTENDENT DR.

WALDRIP AND BOARD PRESIDENT MS. RENE ARCHAMBAULT TO COME UP TO THE STAGE, PLEASE.

AND IF SHARON WHITE, COMMUNITY OUTREACH LIAISON.

AND WITH US TONIGHT FROM TACO SHACK FRISCO, WE HAVE CHRIS OROSCO, MANAGER, AND JONATHAN BAKER, SUPERVISOR.

IF YOU GUYS WILL GO UP TO THE FRONT.

[00:10:02]

AND FRISCO ISD TRANSITION PROGRAM SUPERVISOR JUSTIN KENT, AND ASPIRE INSTRUCTOR, RENE ANDERSON.

YOU CAN EAT TACOS ON MONDAY, BY THE WAY, YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT 'TIL TUESDAY.

YES, TACOS AND EVERYTHING.

SAY TACOS! AND I WANTED TO GIVE JUSTIN JUST A MOMENT TO EXPLAIN TO THE AUDIENCE WHAT OUR ASPIRE PROGRAM IS.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

I DIDN'T KNOW I WAS GOING TO BE SPEAKING, SO I'LL TRY TO KEEP IT TO UNDER 30 MINUTES HERE.

BUT NO, REALLY, THE ASPIRE PROGRAM, IF YOU HAVE NOT HEARD OF WHAT WE DO OR WHO WE ARE, WE ARE AN 18 PLUS TRANSITION PROGRAM.

WELL, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? THAT MEANS WE HAVE STUDENTS WHO'VE BEEN SERVICED BY SPECIAL EDUCATION THROUGHOUT THEIR YEARS WITH FRISCO ISD AND THEY HAVE FINISHED THEIR HIGH SCHOOL CREDITS, BUT THEY'RE NOT QUITE READY TO MOVE ON TO WHAT'S NEXT IN LIFE FOR THEM.

SO WE HAVE A TRANSITION PROGRAM THAT IS BUILT TO ASSIST IN THAT TRANSITION FROM HIGH SCHOOL TO LIFE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL.

NOW, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? WELL, IT DEPENDS ON THE STUDENT AND WHAT THEIR GOALS ARE, WHAT THEIR FAMILY HAS IN MIND FOR THEM.

BUT MANY OF OUR STUDENTS.

THEIR GOAL IS SOME KIND OF SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT THROUGH OUR OTHER COMMUNITY PARTNERS LIKE TEXAS WORKFORCE AND LIFE PATH SYSTEMS OR EVEN INDEPENDENT EMPLOYMENT, WHETHER IT BE ON A PART TIME OR A FULL TIME BASIS.

AND THE BIGGEST FOCUS OF WHAT WE DO WITH OUR STUDENTS IN THIS 18 PLUS PROGRAM IS WORK BASED LEARNING.

AND SO WE GET OUT OF THE TRADITIONAL CLASSROOM AND WE GO.

WE HAVE MANY DIFFERENT COMMUNITY SITES THROUGHOUT FRISCO.

AND I'M VERY HAPPY TO SAY THAT THIS LAST WEEK WE'VE EVEN SIGNED CONTRACTS WITH FIVE ADDITIONAL BUSINESSES.

SO THE FIRE IS CATCHING AND WE'RE GROWING AND WE ARE EXPANDING TO PROVIDE EVEN MORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR STUDENTS.

AND SO WE ARE SO THANKFUL FOR INCREDIBLE PEOPLE LIKE CHRIS AND BUSINESSES LIKE TACO SHACK THAT OPEN THEMSELVES UP TO GIVING OUR STUDENTS INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCES AND THESE WORK-BASED LEARNING EXPERIENCES WHERE WE CAN EXPLORE STUDENT STRENGTHS.

EXPLORE THEIR INTERESTS AND WHEN THEY'RE READY, CONNECT THEM WITH SOME TYPE OF MEANINGFUL AND PURPOSEFUL EMPLOYMENT IN THE COMMUNITY.

AND SO THAT'S WHAT WE'RE ALL ABOUT.

AND SO THANK YOU, CHRIS, AND THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME SHARE JUST A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT WE DO IN THE ASPIRE PROGRAM.

CHRIS, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU RECOGNIZE ME, BUT I WEAR OUT YOUR DRIVE THROUGH THERE ON PRESTON EVERY DAY FOR BREAKFAST TACOS, WHICH ARE KILLER.

SO THANK YOU GUYS.

I HAD NO IDEA THAT YOU GUYS WERE HELPING OUT OUR ASPIRE STUDENTS, AND THAT'S JUST AWESOME.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

WE REALLY APPRECIATE THAT.

AND THANK YOU FOR THE PRIMER ON THE INSPIRE PROGRAM.

I THINK THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE IN THE DISTRICT DON'T KNOW ABOUT THIS PROGRAM.

AND SO IT'S A WONDERFUL PART OF THIS DISTRICT.

AND SO I THANK YOU FOR SHOWCASING THAT A LITTLE BIT FOR US TONIGHT.

WITH THAT, WE WILL MOVE ON TO ITEM FIVE, INVOCATION.

[5. Invocation]

MRS. DAVIS? PLEASE BOW YOUR HANDS FOR A MOMENT OF SILENCE IN RECOGNITION OF THE MANY FAITHS WITHIN FRISCO ISD COMMUNITY.

FATHER, THANK YOU FOR EVERY SEAT THAT HAS BEEN FILLED HERE TODAY.

FOR EACH MIND AND HEART THAT FEELS THIS PRESENCE OF THIS ROOM, WE THANK YOU.

ONLY YOU TRULY KNOW WHAT WE ARE SETTING OUT TO ACCOMPLISH TODAY.

WE HAVE AN IDEA, A VISION, HINTS AND DAILY INSTRUCTIONS.

WE HAVE TALENTS, ABILITIES AND TIME TO WORK.

HOWEVER, ONLY YOU CAN SEE IN PERFECT DETAIL THE END OF EVERY BEGINNING, EVERY PROJECT, EVERY SEASON, EVERY LIFE.

NOTHING IS EVER IN VAIN FOR EVEN MISTAKES AND MISSTEPS ARE USED FOR GOOD.

STRENGTHEN OUR CONFIDENCE IN WHO YOU HAVE MADE US TO BE.

BLESS THIS MEETING TODAY.

[00:15:01]

ALL THOSE PRESENT, AS WELL AS THE LIVES OF THOSE WE WILL ENCOUNTER AFTERWARD.

READY US TO MAKE EVERY MOMENT COUNT.

AMEN.

THANK YOU.

[6. Board Report]

ITEM SIX BOARD REPORT.

JUST A QUICK THANK YOU TO COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT, EVERYBODY THAT HAD A HAND IN A GREAT CONVOCATION LAST WEEK.

IT WAS NICE TO SEE TEACHERS BACK AND APPRECIATE THE FACT THAT THAT WE DID MAKE THE DECISION FOR IT TO BE OPTIONAL FOR STAFF THAT WAS NOT COMFORTABLE FOR BEING IN A LARGE PLACE.

THE SPEAKER WAS FABULOUS.

AND ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I TOOK AWAY FROM IT IS SOMETHING THAT WE TALK ABOUT ALL THE TIME, THAT OUR KIDS ARE NOT A NUMBER, THEY'RE NOT A DATA.

THEY ARE LITTLE PEOPLE.

THEY HAVE LIVES.

AND SO, ANYWAY, THE SPEAKER BROUGHT IT HOME.

IT WAS SUCH A GREAT WAY TO START THE YEAR.

SO THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING.

THANK YOU.

WE WILL NOW MOVE TO ITEM SEVEN COMMUNICATIONS TO AND FROM THE BOARD, INCLUDING

[7. Communication to and from the Board including public comments]

PUBLIC COMMENTS.

MR. RUDY, ANY CORRESPONDENCE TO THE BOARD? NO CORRESPONDENCE.

MR. CLASSE? THE BOARD WELCOMES COMMENTS FROM CITIZENS WHO HAVE COMPLETED PUBLIC COMMENT CARDS THIS EVENING, WHICH ARE ACCEPTED UNTIL 15 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING OF THE OPEN MEETING AND ARE NOT TRANSFERABLE TO OTHER SPEAKERS.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE INFORMATION SHARED IN PUBLIC COMMENT IS NOT AN ENDORSEMENT OF THE INFORMATION SHARED BY THE PRESENTER AND SOLELY PROVIDES THE OPINION OF THE INDIVIDUAL SPEAKER, NOT THE DISTRICT.

DURING THE PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD, COMMENTS SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES ONLY, NOT OTHER ATTENDEES, AND ONLY MADE ONCE YOU HAVE BEEN CALLED UPON TO SPEAK.

TO ENSURE THAT ALL SPEAKERS ARE TREATED EQUALLY AND HAVE THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME, THE PODIUM MICROPHONE WILL BE TURNED OFF AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE TIME FOR EVERY SPEAKER.

THE TOTAL TIME ALLOTTED FOR THE PUBLIC COMMENT SESSION IS 30 MINUTES.

EACH SPEAKER SHALL HAVE ONE MINUTE TO ADDRESS THE BOARD.

SPEAKERS WILL BE CALLED IN THE ORDER IN WHICH EACH INDIVIDUAL SIGNED UP TO SPEAK.

PLEASE KEEP ALL PUBLIC COMMENTS RELATED TO SCHOOL DISTRICT GOVERNANCE AND OPERATIONS.

IF YOU HAVE A SPECIFIC CONCERN RELATED TO AN EMPLOYEE OF THE DISTRICT OR A SPECIFIC STUDENT ISSUE, YOU SHOULD UTILIZE THE DISTRICT'S GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES PROVIDED AND BOARD POLICIES DGBA LOCAL, F&G LOCAL, GF LOCAL.

EACH GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE ALLOWS FOR AN INDIVIDUAL TO REDRESS GRIEVANCES WITH THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

ADDITIONALLY, IF THERE ARE FIVE OR MORE INDIVIDUALS THAT WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK ON THE SAME TOPIC, YOU MAY CHOOSE TO APPOINT AN INDIVIDUAL TO SPEAK ON BEHALF OF THE GROUP.

FINALLY, REMEMBER THAT THE BOARD MAY NOT DISCUSS OR ACT UPON ANY ISSUES THAT ARE NOT PROPERLY POSTED ON THE AGENDA.

THANK YOU.

BUT WE DO HAVE 29 CITIZENS TO SIGN UP TO SPEAK THIS EVENING.

WE ARE REALLY PASSIONATE ABOUT HEARING EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE.

WE WANT TO PARTNER WITH EVERYONE IN THIS ROOM ON THIS PUBLIC COMMENT SECTION OF OUR AGENDA.

SO IF WE CAN ALL WORK TOGETHER TO GET THROUGH THESE 29 COMMENTS AND SUPPORT EACH OTHER, THIS BOARD AND THIS COMMUNITY WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE THAT MOVING FORWARD.

WITH THAT, ASHLEY HANSELMAN, YOU WILL BE FIRST FOLLOWED BY MIKE DRAPER.

GOOD EVENING, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, MY NAME IS ACTUALLY HANSELMAN, I'M A CERTIFIED TEACHER OF 11 YEARS WITH SIX SPENT TEACHING FIRST GRADE IN THE PUBLIC CLASSROOM.

I'M A MOM OF FOUR CHILDREN, TWO OF WHOM ATTEND BRIGHT ACADEMY THROUGH THE LOTTERY.

BEFORE I BEGIN REMARKS, I WOULD LIKE TO PERSONALLY THANK EACH OF YOU ON THE BOARD, THE DISTRICT PERSONNEL, PRINCIPALS, TEACHERS AND SUPPORT STAFF WHO WORKED SO DILIGENTLY ON DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE PRACTICES AND FOR THE PROFESSIONALISM AND FLEXIBILITY EXHIBITED DURING THE PAST SIX MONTHS OF COVID.

IN 2019, YOU ADOPTED BRAIN BREAKS AT THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL LEVEL.

AS A MOM, EDUCATOR AND COLLEAGUE, I HUMBLY IMPLORE YOU TO COMMIT TO COMMUNICATING THE BRAIN BREAK GUIDELINES DIRECTLY AND EXPLICITLY WITH EACH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPAL TO ENSURE THAT THE STUDENTS ON THEIR CAMPUS RECEIVE THE FULL BENEFITS OF THE PROGRAM.

THE ASK OF YOU IS TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THIS AMAZING PROGRAM THAT YOU IMPLEMENTED BECAUSE YOU CLEARLY DO UNDERSTAND THE SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL BENEFITS.

ONE CONCERN IN DOING SO FROM WHERE YOU SIT MIGHT BE CAMPUS AUTONOMY AND FLEXIBILITY.

THOSE ARE NATIONALLY MET AS INDIVIDUAL GRADE LEVEL TEAMS AT EACH CAMPUS CHOOSE BRAIN BREAK OUTSIDE OF THEIR CAMPUS LUNCH RECESSES AND SPECIALTY CLASSES WORKING WITHIN THEIR SCHOOLS A MASTER SCHEDULE.

PRINCIPALS AND TEACHERS, THANK YOU.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

AND WE KNOW THAT A MINUTE IS AS FAST, SO IF YOU HAVE OTHER COMMENTS THAT YOU'D LIKE TO SHARE WITH THE BOARD, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL US.

ALL OF OUR INDIVIDUAL EMAILS ARE ON THE WEB SITE.

OR IF YOU'D LIKE TO GET ALL OF YOUR COMMENTS TO DISTRICT LEADERSHIP, YOU CAN SIMPLY EMAIL LEADERS AT FRISCOISD.ORG.

MIKE DRAPER, FOLLOWED BY KEITH BRUNSON.

MY NAME IS MIKE DRAPER.

I WANTED TO SPEAK TONIGHT ABOUT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL ILA PILOT PROGRAM.

WE'RE ON LEVEL AND ADVANCED CLASSES ARE BEING COMBINED.

YOU'VE ALREADY HEARD FROM MANY CONCERNED PARENTS, BUT THIS EVENING I WANT TO SHARE THE CONCERNS OF FRISCO ISD TEACHERS.

THE FOLLOWING ARE WORDS FROM FRISCO ISD TEACHERS REGARDING THE MIDDLE SCHOOL

[00:20:03]

PILOT.

PLEASE HEAR OUR TEACHERS.

MANY HIGHLY CAPABLE STUDENTS DO NOT QUALIFY FOR GIFTED AND TALENTED, BUT THEIR NEEDS EXCEED ON LEVEL CURRICULUM.

I DO BELIEVE WE SHOULD CONTINUE TO OFFER ADVANCED CLASSES AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL.

WHY MUST WE WORRY ABOUT KEEPING THINGS FAIR AND OVERWHELMING OUR TEACHERS WITH MULTIPLE PREPS RATHER THAN WHAT IS RIGHT FOR OUR STAFF AND OUR STUDENTS? THE TEACHER HAS NO CHOICE BUT TO REDUCE THE LEVEL OF RIGOR, TO MEET THE MEAN ABILITY LEVEL IN THAT CLASS.

ENGAGING IN THE LEVEL OF DIFFERENTIATION REQUIRED CAUSES THE TEACHER TO BURN OUT.

WE SIMPLY DO NOT HAVE THE RESOURCES TO TRULY DIFFERENTIATE FOR ALL OF OUR LEVELS OF STUDENTS RIGHT NOW.

PLEASE LISTEN TO OUR TEACHERS.

THANK YOU.

THANK YOU.

NEXT IS KEITH BRUNSON, FOLLOWED BY CARRIE MORRIS, KEITH BRUNSON, FRISCO RESIDENT OF 14 YEARS, GOT TWO KIDS AND FISD, 12472 JACK PINE COURT.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, I'M A PILOT, I FLY FOR A LIVING BEFORE I WAS A PILOT, I WAS AN AIRCRAFT MECHANIC.

BEFORE THAT, I WAS A BAGGAGE HANDLER AND WAREHOUSE WORKER.

I LIVED IN DALLAS, DENVER, SALT LAKE CITY, MEMPHIS, ATLANTA AND ALL OF TEXAS.

TO SAY THAT I'VE WORKED WITH A COMPREHENSIVE CROSS-SECTION OF AMERICA IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT.

HAVING DONE ALL THIS AND NOW INTERACTING WITH PEOPLE ALL OVER THIS GREAT COUNTRY, I WILL TELL YOU EVERY TIME I GO TO FLY, THIS IS NOT A RACIST COUNTRY.

OUR KIDS DON'T HAVE THAT ADVANTAGE AND IT'S NOT THEIR FAULT.

INSTEAD OF LIFELONG EXPERIENCE, DAY IN AND DAY OUT, THEY'RE BOMBARDED BY SOCIAL MEDIA, BY POLITICIANS, HOLLYWOOD, THE MEDIA ITSELF AND NOW THE ACADEMIA THAT TELLS YOU THAT AMERICA IS RACIST, THAT RACISM AND PREJUDICE ARE INTEGRATED IN EVERY AMERICAN INSTITUTION.

THAT SUCCESS EQUALS PRIVILEGE AND UNFAIRNESS, WHILE HARD WORK IS NONEXISTENT.

ACADEMIC GIFTEDNESS IN PURSUIT, EQUAL UNFAIRNESS, INEQUALITY.

I'M TELLING YOU THAT THIS IS NOT HOW OUR COUNTRY WORKS.

I'VE HEARD THROUGH OTHERS AND THROUGH OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS THAT OUR PARENTS THANK YOU.

I'M SORRY YOUR TIME IS EXPIRED, BUT IF YOU'D LIKE TO SEND THE REST OF YOUR COMMENTS TO THE BOARD, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO DO SO VIA EMAIL.

THANK YOU.

THANK YOU.

WE'RE NOT UNINFORMED AND UNINTELLIGENT, JUST LETTING YOU KNOW.

THANK YOU.

THANK.

CARRIE MORRIS, FOLLOWED BY JONATHAN LARKIN.

CARRIE MORRIS, FORMER EDUCATOR, FORMER SUBSTITUTE FOR FISD FOR SIX OR SEVEN YEARS, THREE CHILDREN THROUGH YOUR FISD AND NOW CONCERNED COMMUNITY MEMBER.

I'M DISAPPOINTED THAT YOU ALL CAVED TO VIRTUAL LEARNING.

I'M DISAPPOINTED THAT MY TAX DOLLARS ARE GOING TO BE USED FOR THAT PROGRAM.

DISAPPOINTED THAT WE ARE SUBJECTING BRAND NEW TEACHERS TO BE VIRTUAL TEACHERS.

AGAIN, I KNOW A SPECIFIC CASE TO TEACHERS HAD TO TEACH VIRTUAL LAST YEAR.

ANOTHER ONE JUST GOT ASSIGNED TO TEACH VIRTUAL.

AGAIN, NOT FAIR.

THAT IS NOT TEACHING.

TEACHING IS BEING IN THE CLASSROOM WITH YOUR KIDS LOVING ON THOSE KIDS.

IT'S CALLED PUBLIC EDUCATION.

IF YOU WANT A VIRTUAL EDUCATION.

THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PROGRAMS IN THE STATE OF TEXAS THAT ARE AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS.

DISAPPOINTED THAT MY TAX DOLLARS ARE BEING USED TO FUND VIRTUAL EDUCATION.

AND THE NEXT THING I'M GOING TO ASK IS YOU'RE GOING TO CAVE ON MASKS.

DR.

WALDRIP? DR. WALDRIP, JONATHAN LARKIN FOLLOWED BY TODD SLADE.

THANK YOU FOR THE TIME TO SPEAK TONIGHT.

I'M JON LARKIN, I LIVE AT 8779 DAN CLIFF, HAVE TWO STUDENTS WILL BE AT STEHLY MIDDLE SCHOOL THIS YEAR.

I'VE BEEN A LONG TIME VOLUNTEER IN OUR DISTRICT AND I LOVE ALL THE SCHOOLS HERE.

LAST MARCH, MY WIFE CONTRACTED A SERIOUS BUT THANKFULLY NOT FATAL CASE OF COVID.

TO THIS DAY, SHE SUFFERS FROM LONG TERM EFFECTS THAT MAKE HER UNABLE TO LIVE HER LIFE AS FULLY AS SHE DID BEFORE SHE GOT SICK.

LOOKING FORWARD TO THE ADDITIONAL LOSS OF LIFE AND LONG TERM DAMAGE IS PREVENTABLE, BUT ONLY IF COMMUNITIES LIKE OURS DO THE RIGHT THING.

IN THE FACE OF THE DELTA VARIANT.

THE CDC HAS RECOMMENDED UNIVERSAL INDOOR MASKING FOR ALL STUDENTS, STAFF, TEACHERS AND VISITORS, REGARDLESS OF THEIR VACCINATION STATUS.

DALLAS ISD HAS ALREADY TAKEN THE STEP TO REQUIRE MASKS, AND WE SHOULD AS WELL.

MY OLDER SON IS GOING INTO EIGHTH GRADE, SO I DON'T HAVE THE OPTION OF HAVING HIM LEARN VIRTUALLY, BUT I APPRECIATE YOU OFFERING THAT FOR YOUNGER STUDENTS.

MY YOUNGEST SON ISN'T OLD ENOUGH TO GET THE VACCINE.

THIS LEAVES ME WITH NO WAY TO TRULY SHIELD MY HOUSEHOLD AND MY LOVED ONES FROM POTENTIAL EXPOSURE TO THIS VIRUS.

UNTIL WE REACH THE VACCINATION LEVEL HIGH ENOUGH TO REACH HERD IMMUNITY.

WE AS A CITY, THANKS VERY MUCH.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

[00:25:01]

TODD SLADE, FOLLOWED BY STEPHANIE ELAD.

THIS IS MY FIRST TIME TO A MEETING.

I'VE BEEN AWAKENED LIKE MANY OTHERS.

I'VE COME THROUGH THE WEBSITE AND SAW QUALITY ON ONE OF THE HOME PAGES.

I LOVE SEEING THAT BEHIND IT HAS BEEN EQUITY, EQUITY AND EQUITY.

THAT MEANS EQUAL OUTCOMES.

YOU'RE NOT GOD.

NO ONE IN HERE IS GOD.

GOD IS NOT HERE PHYSICALLY, OK? YOU YOU ARE NOT OWED A CERTAIN OUTCOME IN LIFE.

THIS COUNTRY WAS NOT FOUNDED THAT WAY.

THAT'S WHY WE'RE THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD.

THE WAY YOU'RE RUNNING THINGS OUT OF THE NAME OF EQUITY TO REMOVE ADVANCED COURSES IS STEALING OPPORTUNITY FROM THE CHILDREN.

EVERY STUDENT IN HERE, THAT'S ALL YOU'RE DOING.

LOWERED EXPECTATIONS IS A FORM OF BIGOTRY.

I RESPECT EVERYONE IN THIS ROOM.

BUT THIS IS UNFOUNDED, IT'S BAD INFORMATION AND IT'S BAD DECISION MAKING.

I APPRECIATE YOU ALL HAVE ME TAKE THE TIME UP HERE.

I TRULY DO.

BUT THERE'S SIGNS OF THINGS COMING THAT ARE NOT GOOD AND THERE'S AN AWAKENING HAPPENING IN THIS CITY.

THANK YOU.

STEPHANIE ELAD, FOLLOWED BY WENDY ROBERTSON.

GOOD EVENING, THANK YOU.

MY NAME IS STEPHANIE ELAD.

I'VE BEEN AN EIGHT YEAR FRISCO ISD FAMILY GOING INTO OUR NINTH YEAR STARTING ON THURSDAY.

A FEW WEEKS AGO, I RAN INTO ONE OF MY DAUGHTER'S OLD TEACHERS AT THE GROCERY STORE.

I ASKED HER IF SHE WAS EXCITED FOR THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR AND SHE TOLD ME THAT SHE HAD LEFT FRISCO ISD AND WOULD BE TEACHING IN PROSPER THIS YEAR.

I ASKED HER IF SHE LIVED IN PROSPER, THINKING THAT'S POSSIBLY WHY SHE DECIDED TO MAKE A CHANGE.

SHE SAID NO.

I SAID THAT I HEARD THAT MANY FISD TEACHERS HAD LEFT TO GO TO PROSPER.

AND SHE TOLD ME THAT IN THE PROSPER NEW TEACHER MEETING RECENTLY THAT MORE THAN HALF OF THE TEACHERS HAD COME FROM FISD MORE THAN HALF.

I COULD TELL THAT THERE WAS MORE TO THE STORY ABOUT WHY SHE HAD DECIDED TO LEAVE, BUT SHE DIDN'T WANT TO SAY.

SHE'S A 15 YEAR TEACHER WITH FISD OR WAS A 15 YEAR TEACHER WITH FISD AND WAS ONE OF THE BEST TEACHERS THAT MY DAUGHTER EVER HAD.

A FEW DAYS AGO, I SAW ON SOCIAL MEDIA THAT FISD HAD HIRED OVER 700 NEW TEACHERS TO START THE YEAR.

I THINK WE SHOULD WELCOME ALL NEW TEACHERS TO FISD, BUT 700 SEEMS A LITTLE HIGH TO ME FOR A DISTRICT WITH 4500.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

WENDY ROBERTSON, FOLLOWED BY AUTUMN BISHOP.

HI, MY NAME IS WENDY ROBERTSON, AND THIS IS MY FIRST MEETING AS WELL.

AND THIS IS COMING FROM A MOTHER WHO'S ON THE VERGE OF PULLING HER STUDENT COME TOMORROW HIGH SCHOOL.

I AM ALSO AWAKENED TO WHAT'S GOING ON IN THIS WORLD TODAY, AND A LOT OF PEOPLE AREN'T.

I'M CONCERNED.

MY MAJOR CONCERN IS THAT YOU WILL CAVE ON THE MASK MANDATE.

I THINK IT IS COMING.

IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN.

ALSO, THE VACCINES, IT'S COMING UP.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WHEN THE FDA APPROVES THEM? BECAUSE PFIZER IS GOING TO APPROVE IT.

WILL YOU MANDATE THE VACCINE? THANK YOU.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENTS.

AUTUMN BISHOP, FOLLOWED BY REN WRU.

ALL RIGHT, HELLO, EVERYBODY, I'M AUTUMN BISHOP, AND I JUST WANT TO GET TO THE POINT, SEXUAL HARASSMENT IN OUR DISTRICT IS RAMPANT.

I CAN TELL YOU ALL WITH CONFIDENCE THAT EVERYBODY IN THIS ROOM KNOWS HOW SEXUAL HARASSMENT IS A HUGE DEAL IN OUR DISTRICT.

WE HAVE ALL EITHER WITNESSED, EXPERIENCED, OR KNOW SOMEBODY THAT HAS GONE THROUGH THIS.

AND IT'S SIMPLY BECAUSE WE ARE NOT PRIORITIZING CONSENT IN OUR CLASSROOMS AND IN THE CURRICULUM.

I REALLY WISH THAT WE DO IN OUR HEALTH CLASSES, ALTHOUGH WE DO HAVE THAT REQUIRED CLASS, NOBODY REALLY KNOWS THE TRUE MEANING OF CONSENT, ESPECIALLY THE STUDENTS IN FRISCO ISD AND THE STUDENTS IN OUR CLASSROOMS. BY INCORPORATING SEXUAL HARASSMENT PREVENTION CLASSES INTO HEALTH RELATED CLASSES, AND SORRY, ACTIVITIES, PROMOTING THE OPTION OF CONSENT AND LISTENING TO STUDENTS WHO THEY WANT.

SORRY.

EXCUSE ME.

I JUST WISH THAT WE WOULD PRIORITIZE CONSENT IN THE CURRICULUM.

THANK YOU, GUYS.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH, REN WRU, FOLLOWED BY SARKIS BASHNIK.

GOOD EVENING, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.

MY NAME IS REN, AND I'M HERE WITH DIVERSIFIER NARRATIVE FISD.

SO RECENTLY, TEXAS SENATORS HAVE PASSED A SENATE BILL THREE, WHICH IS A BILL THAT MOVES IMPORTANT PARTS OF OUR COUNTRY'S HISTORY.

IT MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT FOR TEXAS STUDENTS SUCH AS MYSELF TO LEARN ANYTHING BUT AN ASSIMILATIONIST AND WHITE SUPREMACIST HISTORY.

WE ARE WHITEWASHING OUR HISTORY AND DENYING FUTURE GENERATIONS OF A TRUTHFUL EDUCATION.

I'M TIRED OF BEING VILLAINIZE IN CLASSROOMS SO THAT MY HISTORY IS MORE PALATABLE TO MY

[00:30:01]

WHITE PEERS.

SO MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE CHILDREN WHO WILL NOT HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN ABOUT AMERICA'S REAL HISTORY.

ONE THAT TEACHES ABOUT THE HISTORY OF NATIVE AMERICANS, THE CIVIL RIGHTS AND WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE MOVEMENT AND SO MUCH MORE.

I KNOW THAT AS A CHILD, I WOULD HAVE LOVED SEEING MYSELF IN CLASSROOM DISCUSSIONS, PEOPLE LIKE YURI KUCHIYAMA AND FRED KOREMATSU.

BUT INSTEAD I USUALLY JUST GOT A FEW SENTENCES ABOUT THE NORTH KOREAN BORDER AND JAPANESE INTERNMENT.

SO HOW WILL CHILDREN LOVE LEARNING IF THEY ONLY SEE THEMSELVES IN HISTORY AS THE VILLAINS? HISTORY WILL NEVER CHANGE.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

THANK YOU, SARKIS FOLLOWED BY CADENCE ALLEN.

THE EDUCATION SYSTEM WAS STARTED BECAUSE OF JUDEO-CHRISTIAN ETHIC AND FOUNDATION UPON WHICH OUR NATION WAS BASED, INCLUDING THE CONSTITUTION AND THE BILL OF RIGHTS.

THE VALUE IS IN HAVING COMMON THOUGHTS, IDEAS AND VIRTUES THAT WILL HOLD OUR SOCIETY TOGETHER.

THE WORD UNIVERSITY MEANS THE UNITY OF THOUGHT.

IT IS NOT CALLED DIVERSITY.

WHY ARE WE FOCUSING ON DIVERSITY INSTEAD OF UNITY? DIVIDING INSTEAD OF UNITING ONE ANOTHER? THIS WAS NOT THE DREAM OF AN AMERICAN EDUCATION.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE CONTENT OF ONE'S CHARACTER INSTEAD OF THE COLOR OF ONE'S SKIN? SCHOOLS WERE ORIGINALLY FOUNDED TO BRING UP INTELLECTUALLY VIRTUOUS, MORALLY SOUND STUDENTS.

WHAT IS TAUGHT IN SCHOOLS TODAY WILL BECOME THE CULTURE OF TOMORROW.

ALL THIS RICH HISTORY AND AMERICAN CULTURE BEING SQUANDERED OR KICKED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, VAPID DIVERSITY TRAINING WILL NOT EMPOWER A WELL-EDUCATED GENERATION OF SCHOLARS.

THANK YOU.

THANK YOU.

CADENCE ALLEN, FOLLOWED BY MAGANA ONUM.

IS THIS READY, OK? MY NAME IS CADENCE ALLEN AND I AM FROM CORAL SPRINGS, FLORIDA.

MY SISTER WENT TO STONEMAN DOUGLAS AND LOST TWO FRIENDS DUE TO THE SHOOTER IN THE MASK.

AFTER THAT, MASKS WERE BANNED IN SCHOOLS BECAUSE OF SECURITY REASONS.

NOT ONLY IS THIS A SECURITY ISSUE, BUT IT'S ALSO A HEALTH ISSUE DUE TO NOT RECEIVING ENOUGH OXYGEN AND BREATHING IN CARBON DIOXIDE.

BEING NEW TO FRISCO, I WAS UNABLE TO MAKE FRIENDS OR DO SCHOOL NORMALLY BECAUSE I WAS BECAUSE OF MASKS IN SCHOOL.

I WAS ALSO UNABLE TO SORRY, I'M LIKE NERVOUS.

I WAS ALSO UNABLE TO ATTEND IN PERSON SCHOOL BECAUSE I HAVE A HEALTH CONDITION WHERE I CANNOT COVER MY FACE.

AND ALSO BECAUSE OF PTSD LOSING CLOSE FRIENDS DUE TO THE STONEMAN DOUGLAS SHOOTING.

BEING SO ISOLATED, LED ME TO BEING DEPRESSED AT ONE POINT.

AND THEN I REALIZE ALL THIS IS CAUSED IN YOUTHS TO SKYROCKET.

THANK YOU.

THANK YOU.

THANK YOU.

WE'LL MOVE ON TO THE NEXT SPEAKER, MAGANA ONUM, FOLLOWED BY ATHENA AND MAYA.

HONORABLE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD AND TRUSTEES.

MY NAME IS MAGANA ONUM AND I AM A SENIOR AT INDEPENDENCE HIGH SCHOOL FROM CODE CRIMSON.

I AM SPEAKING ON BEHALF OF THE MANY FISD STUDENTS WHO HAVE EXPRESSED CONCERN OVER THE LACK OF ACCESS TO MENSTRUAL PRODUCTS IN THEIR SCHOOLS.

MOST MENSTRUATERS KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO HAVE TO LEAVE CLASS TO WALK HALFWAY ACROSS SCHOOL TO THE NURSE'S OFFICE TO BORROW A PAD.

STUDENTS DON'T WANT TO FACE A BARRIER TO EDUCATION TO GET ESSENTIAL HYGIENE PRODUCTS THAT COULD BE IN THE BATHROOM NEXT TO YOUR CLASS.

WE ASKED THE BOARD TO CONSIDER ADDING TAMPON DISPENSERS TO FISD RESTROOMS. WE PROPOSE A PILOT PROGRAM TO IMPLEMENT DISPENSERS IN ONE HIGH SCHOOL.

WE HAVE TWO SOLUTIONS.

FIRST, THE BOARD CAN IMPLEMENT WALL MOUNTED BOXES OF TAMPONS IN RESTROOMS COSTING AROUND 10 TO 20 DOLLARS.

A SECOND SOLUTION IS TO INCLUDE PAY FOR USE TAMPONS, COSTING AROUND 200 DOLLARS PER DISPENSER.

IF THE PILOT PROJECT IS SUCCESSFUL, TAMPON OR PAD BOXES OR DISPENSERS CAN BE ADDED TO ALL RESTROOMS IN MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS AND FRISCO.

PLEASE CONSIDER OUR PROPOSAL AS WE ARE WILLING TO WORK TO MAKE THIS A REALITY.

THANK YOU.

THANK YOU, ATHENA AND MAYA, FOLLOWED BY ISHA VIJAYA.

SORRY, GOOD EVENING.

MY NAME IS MAYA SILVERMAN AND I'M A CO DISTRICT LEADER OF DIVERSIFIER NARRATIVE FISD.

ALTHOUGH FISD STAFF HAVE ALREADY BEGUN TO DIVERSIFY OUR CURRICULUM.

THERE IS STILL WORK TO BE DONE.

THE CURRENT REPRESENTATION MAINLY FOCUSES ON THE TRAUMA OF MARGINALIZED STUDENTS.

FOR EXAMPLE, AS A JEWISH STUDENT, I'VE RARELY BEEN REPRESENTED BEYOND THE HOLOCAUST.

THE RESPONSIBILITY OF DIVERSE EDUCATION DOES NOT FALL ON MARGINALIZED STUDENTS AND THOSE WHO ARE PRIVILEGED, SUCH AS MYSELF AND MANY HERE NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR VOICES ARE NOT SPEAKING OVER PEOPLE OF COLOR.

ALL STUDENTS NEED TO LEARN ABOUT A NARRATIVE THAT IS NOT CENTERED AROUND THE WHITE PERSPECTIVE.

HI, I'M ATHENA TANG AND I'M ALSO CO DISTRICT LEAD.

THE DISTRICT'S MISSION TO KNOW EVERY STUDENT BY NAME AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN

[00:35:02]

EMPHASIZED, YET IS RARELY HELD UP.

THIS IS SEEN TO THE LACK OF STUDENT INPUT WITHIN THE CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT PROCESS.

PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL OF OUR SPEAKERS.

MOST FISD STUDENTS HAVE NEVER BEEN GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN ABOUT HOW THEIR CURRICULUM IS CREATED, LET ALONE PROVIDE EFFECTIVE CRITICISMS. THE FIRST STEP IN REPRESENTING STUDENTS PROPERLY IS LISTENING TO WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY.

AND RIGHT NOW IT SEEMS THAT THE DISTRICT ISN'T.

THANK YOU.

THANK YOU.

ISHA FOLLOWED BY AROUSHA SENDAL.

GOOD EVENING, MY NAME IS ISHA, AND I'M HERE TO STATE THAT STUDENTS OF COLOR DESERVE THE RIGHT TO FEEL SAFE AND ACCEPTED IN SCHOOLS.

INDIANS ARE UGLY.

GO BACK TO YOUR OWN COUNTRY, YOU MONKEY.

THESE ARE THE TYPES OF STATEMENTS I'VE GROWN UP HEARING IN FISD.

AS AN EIGHT YEAR OLD WHO WANTED TO BE ACCEPTED, THIS NEGATIVELY IMPACTED MY DEVELOPMENT LED TO AN ANXIETY DISORDER, AMONG OTHER ISSUES RESULTING FROM THIS TRAUMA.

THIS IS ONLY A FRACTION OF WHAT POC FACE AND WE ARE ALWAYS REFUTED AND WE SPEAK ON THESE ISSUES.

I'VE BEEN THREATENED AT THE REGARDLESS OF OUR EXPERIENCES, THERE ARE STILL YET TO BE CHANGED IN THE DISTRICT.

IT'S INCREDIBLY INVALIDATING TO MINORITIES WHEN A RACIST ACTION HAS GONE UNADDRESSED.

THE LACK OF RAMIFICATIONS FOR RACIST STUDENTS IN EDUCATION BY SYSTEMIC OPPRESSION, RESULTING NEGATION OF THOSE WHO SEEK CHANGE.

DENYING THE RACIST HISTORY OF AMERICA WILL INTERDICT OUR PROGRESSION IF WE CAN'T LEARN ABOUT WHAT'S HAPPENING IN FRONT OF OUR OWN EYES.

AND HAVING A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE IN FRISCO ISD DOES NOT GIVE ONE THE RIGHT TO INVALIDATE ANOTHER NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE.

STUDENTS OF COLOR DESERVE THE RIGHT TO FEEL, THE LEARN WITHOUT THE CONSTANT RACISM THEY FACE.

THE FRISCO VISION BELIEVES THAT A SAFE ENVIRONMENT NECESSARY FOR LEARNING.

AND WE DO SEE AN ACTIVE PRIORITIZATION FOR THAT.

THANK YOU.

AROUSHI, FOLLOWED BY KERTANA AND AMY.

HI, EVERYONE, MY NAME IS AROUSHI, MY PRONOUNS, IF SHE/THEY.

SO I CURRENTLY WORK AS AN ASSISTANT TEACHER AT A PRESCHOOL AND THE OTHER DAY THE KIDS WERE COLORING AND A SOUTH ASIAN GIRL ASKED ME FOR THESE SKIN COLORED PENCIL, REFERRING TO THE COLOR THAT'S SEEN ON WHITE PEOPLE.

WHEN I TOLD HER THAT SHE COULD USE DARKER SHADES LIKE BROWN TO COLOR THE IMAGE, SHE RESPONDED, SAYING WORD FOR WORD.

BUT THAT'S NOT AS PRETTY AS THE WHITE ONE.

THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT.

THIS IS A UNIVERSAL EXPERIENCE.

CHILDREN OF COLOR AT THE MERE AGE OF THREE AND FOUR ARE TAUGHT TO BELIEVE THAT WHITE IS THE NORM AND ONLY WHITE IS BEAUTIFUL.

IT REMINDED ME THAT GROWING UP I WAS THAT YOUNG SOUTH ASIAN GIRL WITH THE EXACT SAME MINDSET AS HER.

AND THAT'S RESULTING FROM NOT HAVING PEOPLE OF COLOR TO LOOK UP TO IN MY LIFE.

FOR EXAMPLE, I'VE ONLY HAD A HANDFUL OF TEACHERS THAT WERE ALSO RACIAL MINORITIES.

TAKING A LOOK AT THE DEMOGRAPHIC, 61 PERCENT OF FISD STUDENTS ARE STUDENTS OF COLOR.

HOWEVER, THAT IS NOT REFLECTED IN TEACHERS WHERE 19 PERCENT OF TEACHERS ARE TEACHERS OF COLOR.

IF YOU CARE ABOUT MAKING SCHOOL A WELCOMING PLACE FOR ALL STUDENTS, YOU MUST START FOCUSING ON INTENTIONAL DIVERSITY IN SCHOOL.

STUDENTS ARE TIRED OF ASKING POLITELY FOR THE EDUCATION.

THANK YOU.

THANK YOU.

YOUR TIME HAS EXPIRED.

KERTANA AND AMY, FOLLOWED BY RHIA AND RACHEL.

GOOD EVENING.

MY NAME IS KERTANA AND MY PRONOUNS ARE SHE/HER.

CONTRARY TO POPULAR BELIEF, SUPPOSITORY TYPES CAN HAVE A NEGATIVE IMPACT.

FOR EXAMPLE, ASIAN-AMERICAN STUDENTS IN THE FISD FACE STEREOTYPES SUCH AS ACADEMIC SUCCESS CENTERS AND UNATTAINABLE CLASSROOM PERFORMANCE BECAUSE OF THE MODEL MINORITY MYTH .

PERSONALLY FAILING TO LIVE UP TO THESE EXPECTATIONS, GIVE ME IMMENSE STRESS AND DIMINISH MY CONFIDENCE.

THE STEADY PRESSURE TO SUCCEED IMPEDES SELF-WORTH AND PIT STUDENTS AGAINST EACH OTHER, CREATING A TENSE, UNHEALTHY ATMOSPHERE IN THE CLASSROOM.

MY NAME IS AMY AND MY PRONOUNS ARE SHE/HER.

THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHERE I WOULD LEAVE THE CLASSROOM TO BREAK DOWN BECAUSE OF UNATTAINABLE STANDARDS.

DUE TO THE STEREOTYPE THAT ALL ASIANS ARE ACADEMICALLY CAPABLE, MY PEERS SIMPLIFIED MY WORK DOWN TO MY GRADES.

THIS GENERALIZATION IS ONLY A FRACTION OF WHAT BIPOC STUDENTS AND FISD FACE FOR STUDENTS.

WE'RE NOT INVALIDATING THE POSITIVE EXPERIENCE OF STUDENTS OF COLOR, BUT WE NEED TO MAKE EFFORTS FOR THESE STUDENTS TO FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE.

FISD, PLEASE STOP OVERSIMPLIFYING AND OVERLOOKING OUR PROBLEMS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

THANK YOU.

NEXT IS RHIA AND RACHEL, FOLLOWED BY ANNA.

GOOD EVENING, MY PEER AND I ARE HERE TODAY TO GIVE AN INSIGHT ON HOW RACISM IMPACTS OUR HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE AS ATHLETES.

IN SOCCER COLLABORATION HAS ALWAYS BEEN KEY TO GAUGING THE SUCCESS OF A TEAM'S ENDEAVORS WITH THE CONSTANT INTERACTION BETWEEN TEAMMATES.

MY SOCIAL IDENTITY WAS MOLDED TO A GREAT EXTENT BY THE RELATIONSHIPS I FORMED.

JUST BY EATING CURRY AND GETTING AN ARRANGED MARRIAGE BECAME STANDARD CONVERSATION FOR ME, AS ONE OF THE ONLY PEOPLE OF COLOR, WHICH SOON ESTABLISHED A SKEWED MINDSET AS THE NORM FOR ME.

I SOON REALIZED THESE COMMENTS RATHER SINCERELY HURTFUL OR NOT, WAS THE REASON I VIEWED MY ETHNICITY AS A DEMEANING QUALITY.

MOREOVER,, RECEIVING SHAME FOR NOT KNOWING ALL THE ANSWERS WHEN ASKED FOR HOMEWORK HELP PROVED DETRIMENTAL TO MY SELF-CONFIDENCE.

BEING ONE OF THE ONLY PLAYERS OF ASIAN DESCENT IN A WHITE MAJORITY SPORT VOLLEYBALL, I

[00:40:01]

HAVE ALWAYS FELT A SENSE OF UNEASINESS AND ISOLATION.

WHEN OUR TEAM PRACTICED DRILLS AND BALL SCOREKEEPING, MY TEAMMATES WOULD ALWAYS ASK ME TO KEEP SCORE.

DUE TO THE ASSUMPTION THAT I'M GOOD AT MATH.

AS AN ASIAN-AMERICAN, I'M REGARDED AS PHYSICALLY INFERIOR TO WHITE PEOPLE, RESULTING IN OTHERS BELITTLING MY ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

MOREOVER, MANY PEOPLE EMPHASIZED ASIANS IN EDUCATION, MINIMIZING A PATH TO COLLEGE AND PROFESSIONAL ATHLETICS FOR ASIANS.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

THANK YOU.

ANNA, FOLLOWED BY KAILYN RUíZ.

HI, MY NAME IS ANNA PRICING AND I'M A MOM OF THREE KIDS AT FRISCO ISD.

THIS IS MY FIRST TIME AT THIS MEETING.

I JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT A LOT OF PARENTS AND INCLUDING MYSELF FEEL THAT A PLACE IN ADVANCED ISD CLASSES WAS MERGING WITH ON LEVEL CLASSES MAKES US FEEL LIKE THIS VIOLATES THE EDUCATION CODE FOR TEXAS TITLE TWO PUBLIC EDUCATION, WITHTHE OBJECTIVE FOR PARENTS TO BE FULL PARTNERS WITH EDUCATORS IN THE EDUCATION OF THEIR CHILDREN.

WE FEEL LIKE WE DID NOT GET SUFFICIENT NOTICE AND WE FEEL LIKE WE WOULD LOVE TO GET BETTER TRANSPARENCY FROM THE DISTRICT.

WE ALSO FEEL THAT REMOVING THESE CLASSES VIOLATES OBJECTIVE NUMBER TWO, WHICH STATES THAT STUDENTS WILL BE ENCOURAGED AND CHALLENGED TO MEET THEIR FULL EDUCATIONAL POTENTIAL.

WE WOULD LIKE FOR YOU TO PROVIDE US WITH BETTER TRANSPARENCY IN THE FUTURE.

SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

WE APPRECIATE YOUR COMMENTS.

KAILYN RUIZ? OH, I'M SORRY, WE CAN'T TAKE ADDITIONAL COMMENTS.

YOU WOULD HAVE TO.

I APOLOGIZE.

OK THEN PLEASE JOIN US AT THE PODIUM.

GOOD EVENING, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN OF THE BOARD, I SPEAK ON BEHALF OF ALL CONCERNED PARENTS TEA ATROCIOUS GUIDELINES STATE THAT SCHOOLS DON'T HAVE TO INFORM PARENTS OF POSITIVE CASES, CONDUCT CONTACT TRACING AND PARENTS CAN STILL CHOOSE TO SEND A CHILD TO SCHOOL, EVEN IF THERE IS IN CLOSE CONTACT WITH AN INFECTED STUDENT.

IF THAT DOESN'T SOUND PREPOSTEROUS, THEN I'M LEAVING THIS BUILDING FULL OF DOUBTS FOR OUR CHILDREN'S FUTURE.

DALLAS ISD HAS MADE IT CLEAR THAT THERE WILL BE USING MASK PROTOCOLS FOR THEIR STAFF, STUDENTS AND VISITORS.

I'M PERPLEXED ON HOW FISD IS NOT FOLLOWING SUIT.

MORE THAN 8000 AMERICANS DIED OF COVID JUST IN JULY, AND MORE WILL DIE WITH THIS MONTH.

IF THIS PREVENTATIVE ILLNESS IS NOT IMPLEMENTING PROTOCOLS.

DELTA HAS AN RO OF SIX TO EIGHT, WHICH MEANS THAT FOR EVERY INFECTED PERSON, SIX TO EIGHT PEOPLE WILL CONTRACT THE VIRUS.

HOW CAN I FEEL A LITTLE SAFER? FISD IS REQUIRED TO KEEP OUR CHILDREN SAFE.

IF WE HAVE MORE VACCINES, MORE VENTILATION OPTIONS DURING LUNCH, SAFE DISTANCING PROTOCOLS FOR CLASS DISMISSAL, MASKS, AND SOCIAL DISTANCING.

THANK YOU.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENTS.

KAILYN, FOLLOWED BY ANNA GONZALEZ.

THAT WAS ANNA, BUT I'M KAILYN.

GOOD EVENING, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN OF THE BOARD, I FIRST WANT TO THANK YOU ALL FOR DEDICATING YOUR TIME TO LISTEN TO US, YOUR CONSTITUENTS TODAY.

IF YOU WEREN'T AWARE, ACCORDING TO THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF PEDIATRICS, 93,824 CHILD COVID-19 CASES WERE REPORTED BETWEEN JULY 29H AND AUGUST 5TH, WITH CHILDREN REPRESENTING 15 PERCENT OF THE WEEKLY REPORTED CASES IN THE U.S.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THAT IS JUST WITHIN ONE WEEK.

IMAGINE WHAT A DURATION OF AN ENTIRE SCHOOL YEAR CAN DO.

AS OF TODAY, DALLAS ISD HAS ISSUED THAT THEY WILL BE CONTESTING ABBOTT'S EXECUTIVE ORDER AND REQUIRING MASKS IN ORDER TO SET FOOT ON ANY DISTRICT OWNED PROPERTY, AND I ASSURE YOU THEY WILL NOT BE THE ONLY ONE.

I ASK AND IMPLORE THE BOARD TO FOLLOW SUIT ALONGSIDE DISD AND LOOK AT THE REALITY OF WHAT COVID IS DOING ON THIS DAY THAT I STAND BEFORE YOU.

AS A SISTER AND A PERSON, I'M TAUGHT THAT THE IMPORTANCE OF EVERY SINGLE LIFE MATTERS.

I FIND IT IRONIC THAT IN THE SAME EXECUTIVE ORDER ABBOTT STATES HOW COVID-19 POSES AN IMMINENT THREAT OF DISASTER TO ALL TEXAS COUNTIES.

THIS IS WORD FOR WORD.

THANK YOU.

THANK YOU.

JENNY SCOTT, FOLLOWED BY SUMITA METUH.

GOOD EVENING.

MY NAME IS JENNY SCOTT, AND I'M REPRESENTING CINDY HONS, WHO COULDN'T BE

[00:45:02]

HERE TONIGHT BECAUSE SHE IS IN QUARANTINE.

CINDY HONS IS A RETIRED TEACHER FROM FRISCO ISD.

SHE RETIRED FIVE YEARS AGO.

EDUCATORS ARE TELLING HER THAT IF THEY NEED TO QUARANTINE FOR COVID REASONS THIS SCHOOL YEAR, THEY MUST USE THEIR OWN DAYS.

ONE INCIDENT OF COVID COULD TAKE OUT ALL THE TEACHERS SICK DAYS FOR THE WHOLE YEAR, REQUIRING THEM TO BE DOCKED FOR FURTHER SICK DAYS.

EDUCATORS ARE WILLINGLY PUTTING THEMSELVES AT RISK FOR THE BEST INTEREST OF THEIR CHILDREN AND THEIR STUDENTS.

EXCUSE ME.

THEY DESERVE TO HAVE THE DISTRICT LOOKING OUT FOR THEM.

FEAR OF GETTING DOCKED FOR SICK DAYS MIGHT FORCE EDUCATORS TO COME TO WORK SICK, RISKING THE HEALTH OF UNVACCINATED OTHERS.

I ASK FERVENTLY THAT FRISCO ISD CONTACT TRACE ALL CASES OF COVID LIKE THEY DID LAST YEAR AND TO KEEP UP THE COVID DASHBOARD.

IT IS REPORTED GARLAND ISD ALREADY HAS 31 STAFF AND 224 STUDENTS WHO HAVE TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID.

IT IS NOT FAIR TO OUR EDUCATORS, PARENTS AND STUDENTS TO NOT GIVE THEM KNOWLEDGE TO PROTECT THEIR FAMILIES AND LOVED ONES, SINCE MANY OF THEM HAVE FAMILY MEMBERS WHO HAVE AUTOIMMUNE ISSUES OR CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 12.

THANK YOU.

AND AS A QUICK UPDATE, WE ACTUALLY WILL BE GETTING AN UPDATE FROM OUR CFO THIS EVENING ON THAT EXACT TOPIC REGARDING SICK DAYS FOR TEACHERS.

SO IF YOU'LL STICK AROUND AT THE END, THERE WILL BE SOME MORE CLARIFYING INFORMATION.

THANKS FOR JOINING US.

I'M DR.

ARCHAMBAULT SUPERINTENDENT, DR.

WALDRIP, AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR GIVING ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK AS A PHYSICIAN AND AS A MOTHER OF TWO FISD STUDENTS.

I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR FOR LEADING THE CHARGE WITH REGARDS TO VIRTUAL LEARNING DURING THIS COVID PANDEMIC.

I HUMBLY REQUEST THAT YOU CONTINUE TO SHOW THIS KIND OF LEADERSHIP AND FLEXIBILITY IN PLACING THE SAFETY OF OUR CHILDREN FIRST.

I HUMBLY REQUEST THAT YOU STRONGLY CONSIDER THE CURRENT CDC AND AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF PEDIATRIC GUIDELINES AS THE DELTA VARIANT TAKES HOLD.

I WOULD REQUEST YOU TO CONTINUE TO ENCOURAGE STUDENTS FOR MASKING AND STAFF WITH, REGARDLESS OF THEIR VACCINATION STATUS, TO REINSTITUTE SOCIAL DISTANCING IN THE CLASSROOMS AND IN THE ENTIRE SCHOOL, INCREASING VENTILATION AND OPTIONS FOR OUTDOOR SEATING AND OUTDOOR LEARNING FOR LUNCHTIMES, AS WELL AS FOR CLASSROOM LEARNING, AND LASTLY, TO CONTINUE CONTACT TRACING.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR NOT ONLY YOUR TIME, BUT YOUR CONSIDERATION TO THESE REQUESTS.

THANK YOU.

ANGELA DENVER.

ANGELA DENVER, FOLLOWED BY ELIZABETH MICHAEL.

AND THEN AFTER ELIZABETH WILL BE ANTHONY CALHOUN.

GOOD EVENING.

YOU GUYS HAVE HEARD ME TALK ABOUT RECESS A LOT, SO I THOUGHT TODAY I WOULD, INSTEAD OF YOU HEARING FROM ME, SHARE SOME WORDS FROM OTHER PARENTS, I HAVE IN MY HAND SIGNED A PETITION WITH 961 SIGNATURES.

AND I HAVEN'T REALLY EVEN PUSHED THIS PETITION VERY MUCH.

I'M SURE THERE'S MANY MORE WHO WOULD SIGN.

THIS PETITION IS REQUESTING A FORMAL SECOND RECESS IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DAY FOR OUR CHILDREN.

THERE'S ALREADY THE BRAIN BREAK, WHICH HAS BEEN AWESOME AND HAS BASICALLY FUNCTION AS A RECESS, HAD A LOT OF SCHOOLS, BUT IT HAS NOT DONE SO AT SOME OTHER SCHOOLS.

AND WE'RE REQUESTING JUST SOME CONSISTENCY ON THAT, WHICH IS SHOULD BE MINOR MODIFICATIONS TO THE EXISTING PROGRAM.

SO HERE ARE SOME COMMENTS FROM THE PARENTS THAT HAVE SIGNED THIS PETITION.

WE NEED THE DOWN TIME TO BE UP AGAIN RECESS GIVES THAT TO CHILDREN.

KIDS NEED PLAY TIME AND FREQUENT BREAKS TO UNWIND MORE THAN ADULTS DO.

I HAVE A MASTERS IN EDUCATION AND AN EMPHASIS IN EARLY CHILDHOOD WITH.

THANK YOU, SORRY YOUR TIME IS EXPIRED, BUT FEEL FREE TO SEND THOSE COMMENTS TO THE BOARD.

ELIZABETH, FOLLOWED BY ANTHONY CALHOUN.

GOOD EVENING, MY NAME IS ELIZABETH MICHELE, I AM THE MOTHER OF TWO FRISCO ISD CHILDREN.

I WOULD LIKE TO START BY THANKING EACH OF YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED DILIGENCE AND ENGAGING IN THOUGHTFUL, SCIENCE BASED, NONPOLITICAL GOVERNING AS SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS.

IT'S UNFORTUNATE, I.

PLEASE RESPECT OUR SPEAKERS.

RECLAIMING MY TIME.

IT'S UNFORTUNATE OUR GOVERNOR PUT INTO PLACE SUCH AN IRRESPONSIBLE NO MASK MANDATE AND YOU FEEL YOUR HANDS MAY BE TIED.

HOWEVER, I KNOW THERE ARE PRACTICES AND PROCEDURES FRISCO ISD CAN PUT INTO PLACE TO HELP KEEP ALL CHILDREN SAFE THIS SCHOOL YEAR.

ONE SEND A DISTRICT WIDE STATEMENT STRONGLY RECOMMENDING ALL TEACHERS, STUDENTS AND ANYONE INSIDE SCHOOL BUILDINGS WEAR MASKS.

TWO, ENCOURAGE AND EDUCATE PARENTS THAT VACCINES ARE SAFE AND AVAILABLE FOR FREE FOR AGES 12 AND UP.

THREE, ENCOURAGE SOCIAL DISTANCING WHEN POSSIBLE.

FOUR, LEAD BY EXAMPLE AND WEAR YOUR MASKS INSIDE AT ALL TIMES.

ARE THESE INCONVENIENCES? MOST WOULD SAY YES.

ARE THEY ANNOYING AGAIN? YES.

I WOULD ASK, ARE THEY WORTH IT? I HAVE A CHILD WITH FOOD ALLERGIES AND HER CLASSMATES PROBABLY FELT INCONVENIENCED

[00:50:03]

AT TIMES.

I WOULD SUGGEST AN INCONVENIENCE IS A SMALL SACRIFICE WHEN THE RISK IS.

THANK YOU.

I'M SORRY, YOUR TIME IS UP.

ANTHONY CALHOUN, FOLLOWED BY CHLOE KING AND THEN JENNA MASCLAIR.

SORRY, I BUTCHERED THAT LAST NAME.

GOOD EVENING.

MY NAME IS ANTHONY CALHOUN AND THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME TO ADDRESS YOU THIS EVENING.

MY ADDRESS IS ABOUT I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SIT ACROSS THE TABLE FROM MY SIXTH GRADER WHO WAS TAKING SOCIAL STUDIES AT A MIDDLE SCHOOL.

THE LESSON WAS ON THE TRIANGULAR TRADE AND IT REFERRED TO BASICALLY AFRICA SENDING LABOR OVER TO THE NEW WORLD.

AND I THOUGHT TO MYSELF, LABOR IS A THING AND THAT THING DOES NOT ADEQUATELY REPRESENT MY SON'S ANCESTRY.

I WROTE THE PRINCIPAL AS TO HOW COME WE REFER TO PEOPLE AS LABOR.

AND SHE TOLD ME IT WAS ILLEGAL TO TALK ABOUT THE SLAVE TRADE IN THE STATE OF TEXAS.

I'M NOT REQUESTING THE SCHOOL BOARD GO AGAINST TEXAS LAW, HOWEVER, I DO BELIEVE THE SCHOOL SYSTEM CAN PAY ADEQUATE ATTENTION AND RESPECT TO ALL ETHNIC GROUPS.

AT A MINIMUM, CONSIDER AFRICA SENT PEOPLE WHO PRODUCED MATERIALS OR SOME OTHER WORDING THAT RECOGNIZES MY SON'S ANCESTRY AND NOT AS A THING, BUT AS HUMAN BEING.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

APPRECIATE YOU.

CHLOE KING, FOLLOWED BY JENNA AND THEN VALERIE KLEIN.

HELLO, MY NAME IS CHLOE KING AND I'M HERE TO TALK ABOUT THE RACISM IN FISD SCHOOLS AND HOW THE CURRICULUM SHOULD BETTER REPRESENT PEOPLE OF COLOR.

THE DISTRICT BELIEVES STATES.

EVERYONE HAS EQUAL INHERENT WORTH AND DESERVES TO BE TREATED WITH RESPECT AND DIGNITY IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT IS NECESSARY FOR LEARNING.

YEAH, I'M NOT TOO SURE I FELT SAFE IN SCHOOL LIKE I'M SUPPOSED TO.

A FEW EXAMPLES OF THESE THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN SAID TO ME ARE, CAN YOU EVEN AFFORD TO LIVE HERE? EVEN A FISD TEACHER HAS MADE FUN OF MY HAIR BEFORE.

MY BRAIDS USED TO GET PULLED ON BY THE WHITE KIDS AS A JOKE.

DOES THAT SEEM RESPECTFUL AND DIGNIFIED BEHAVIOR TO YOU? IS THIS WHAT THE BOARD CONSIDERS SAFE? WHEN IT COMES TO HISTORY, SCHOOLS AND FISD TALK ABOUT PEOPLE OF COLOR, ACTIVISTS LIKE MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. AND GANDHI, BUT NEVER TALKED ABOUT THE QUOTE UNQUOTE, RADICAL PEOPLE LIKE MALCOLM X OR ANGELA DAVIS.

THE REASON WHY WE DON'T LEARN ABOUT THESE PEOPLE IS BECAUSE THEY ARE UNPALATABLE FOR THE WHITE COMMUNITY.

TO SUM THIS UP.

FISD HAS TO DO BETTER TO MAKE STUDENTS OF COLOR FEEL REPRESENTED AND SAFE IN YOUR SCHOOLS BY IMPLEMENTING A SYSTEM TO MAKE THE IDENTITIES SHOWN ALONG WITH CREATING A MORE COMPREHENSIVE CURRICULUM THAT SHOWCASES PEOPLE OF COLOR AND MORE IN MULTI-FACETED WAYS.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

THANK YOU.

JENNA, FOLLOWED BY VALERIE KLEIN.

HEY THERE, I'M GOING TO JUMP RIGHT IN AND BEG THAT WE DON'T REINSTITUTE THE MASK MANDATE.

PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT DO THAT TO OUR KIDS.

AND I BELIEVE THAT WE SHOULD PREPARE THE CHILD FOR THE PATH, NOT THE PATH FOR THE CHILD, BECAUSE IT CREATES A VICTIM MENTALITY.

WE DON'T WANT THAT.

IF WE'RE GOING TO BLEND ADVANCED STYLE A AND ON LEVEL, WE'RE DIMINISHING AND NOT ACKNOWLEDGING RAW TALENT, CURIOSITY, ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE, THE THINGS THAT FRISCO SHOULD BE BUILT UPON.

IF WE'RE GOING TO DO THAT AND WE SHOULD ELIMINATE FIRST STRING FOOTBALL A, B AND C VOLLEYBALL, EVERYBODY SHOULD JUST BE EQUAL.

IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE.

IF WE HIRE A DIRECTOR OF INCLUSIVITY, DIVERSITY AND EQUITY, WE ALSO NEED TO HIRE A DIRECTOR OF MORALS, PRINCIPLES AND CHRISTIANITY.

IF WE HAVE.

PRAYER ROOMS FOR THE MUSLIMS, WHICH IS FINE, WE ALSO NEED A CHAPEL ROOM FOR CHRISTIAN STUDENTS.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

WE APPRECIATE IT FROM.

VALERIE KLEIN? THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

I'M HERE TO SPEAK TODAY FOR SEVERAL REASONS.

FIRST AND FOREMOST, I'M HERE TO SUPPORT THE FISD BOARD STAFF AND TEACHERS.

I HAVE THREE CHILDREN WHO HAVE GONE ALL THE WAY THROUGH FISD, ONE WHO IS A JUNIOR.

I KNOW FIRSTHAND THE EXCELLENCE THAT IS FRISCO ISD.

SO THANK YOU.

I AM A PART OF THE SILENT MAJORITY.

THIS IS MY FIRST FRISCO BOARD MEETING AND I'M VERY HAPPY WITH THE EDUCATION AND SUPPORT MY CHILDREN HAVE GOTTEN.

SO I SAT QUIETLY AND ENJOYED THE PRIVILEGES THAT A GOOD EDUCATION HAS PROVIDED MY CHILDREN.

I AM THANKFUL FOR THE LOVE AND GUIDANCE THAT MANY, MANY, MANY, MANY TEACHERS HAVE GIVEN MY CHILDREN OVER THE YEARS.

THE FIRST THING I WOULD LIKE TO TALK ABOUT IS THE TEACHERS DO NOT BECOME TEACHERS TO MAKE A LOT OF MONEY.

THEY BECOME TEACHERS BECAUSE OF A CALLING TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE AND A LOVE OF CHILDREN.

I THINK IT IS VERY UNFAIR TO OUR TEACHERS TO EXPECT THEM TO GIVE UP THEIR DAYS BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO QUARANTINE, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY CATCH COVID POSSIBLY DOING THEIR JOB AT SCHOOL WHERE NO ONE IS REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK.

THEY ARE DOING THE BEST FOR OUR CHILDREN.

[00:55:01]

THE LEAST WE CAN DO IS OUR BEST FOR THEM.

SPEAKING OF MASKS, I BELIEVE THAT WE SHOULD FOLLOW BOTH DALLAS AND AUSTIN AND START THE YEAR WITH THE RULE THAT STUDENTS AND TEACHERS.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENTS.

MR. STOCKTON, WOULD YOU MIND GIVING US AN UPDATE ON THE CODE PROTOCOLS THAT WILL BE IMPLEMENTED THIS YEAR? I THINK THERE HAVE BEEN THERE'S BEEN SOME CONFUSION, AND I'D LOVE TO BE ABLE TO DIRECT FAMILIES AND PARENTS TO WHERE THEY CAN FIND THOSE RESOURCES.

SO JUST A HIGH LEVEL OVERVIEW WOULD BE REALLY HELPFUL.

YEAH, ABSOLUTELY.

SO THANK YOU ALL FOR FOR HAVING ME TO SPEAK ABOUT THIS.

SO THE FIRST THING I'LL SAY IS THAT ALL OF THE INFORMATION ABOUT OUR RESPONSE TO COVID-19 IS ON OUR WEBSITE.

IF YOU GO TO THE MAIN FRISCOISD.ORG HOMEPAGE, THERE'S A KIND OF BUTTON RIGHT UP AT THE TOP THAT SAYS COVID-19.

YOU CLICK INTO THAT AND IT TAKES YOU RIGHT TO ALL OF THE INFORMATION.

WE PRESENTED THE PROTOCOLS THAT WE EXPECTED TO HAVE IN PLACE FOR THE FALL TO YOU ALL IN AT THE END OF LAST SCHOOL YEAR IN MAY.

AND THOSE ARE THE PROTOCOLS THAT WE HAVE IN PLACE.

PURSUANT TO THE GOVERNOR'S EXECUTIVE ORDER, MASKS ARE OPTIONAL FOR ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF AND VISITORS ON OUR CAMPUSES.

PLEASE, PLEASE, JUST LET HIM SPEAK SO WE CAN GET AND THEN AND THE SAME IS TRUE OF VACCINES.

SO THE ORDER PROHIBITS SCHOOL DISTRICTS FROM REQUIRING MASKS.

IT ALSO PREVENTS SCHOOL DISTRICTS FROM REQUIRING VACCINES.

AND WHEN WE WILL CONTINUE TO COMPLY WITH THAT ORDER.

SO MASKS ARE OPTIONAL FOR ALL STUDENTS, STAFF AND VISITORS.

IN ADDITION TO THAT, WE HAVE SIGNIFICANTLY MORE STUDENTS ON CAMPUS THIS YEAR THAN WE HAD LAST YEAR BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT WE DO NOT HAVE A VIRTUAL LEARNING OPTION.

SO SOCIAL DISTANCING IS MUCH MORE DIFFICULT.

OBVIOUSLY, WE WILL ACCOMMODATE REQUESTS AS BEST WE CAN FROM PARENTS.

BUT THE FACT IS THAT IT'S NOT GOING TO BE FEASIBLE FOR US TO DO SOCIAL DISTANCING IN ALL SITUATIONS.

WE ARE REQUIRING QUARANTINES OR REALLY ISOLATION FOR PEOPLE WHO TEST POSITIVE.

AND ACTUALLY, THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE HEALTH SERVICES HAS NOW ADDED COVID-19 TO THEIR COMMUNICABLE DISEASE LIST.

AND SO WE ARE ACTUALLY NOW REQUIRED BY THE STATE TO EXCLUDE STUDENTS IN PARTICULAR WHO TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID-19 FOR 10 DAYS FROM THE DATE THAT THEIR SYMPTOMS START OR THEY TEST POSITIVE IF THEY DON'T HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS, AND THEN THEY WILL BE ABLE TO RETURN AFTER THAT AS LONG AS THEIR FEVER FREE FOR 24 HOURS AND THEIR SYMPTOMS HAVE IMPROVED.

SAME IS TRUE FOR STAFF, THAT SAME RULE APPLIES TO THEM.

FOR STUDENTS, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO WORK WITH THEIR CAMPUS TO MAKE SURE THEY'RE CONTINUING TO RECEIVE EDUCATION DURING THAT TIME PERIOD SO THAT WHEN THEY COME BACK ON CAMPUS, THEY'RE NOT MISSING A BEAT.

AND THEN I DON'T KNOW IF YOU WANT ME TO TALK ABOUT STAFF OR IF YOU WANT TO MENTION IT IN A MINUTE.

OK, AND SO AND THEN IN ADDITION TO THAT, WE ALSO ARE GOING TO BE NOTIFYING ALL OF OUR PARENTS WHEN WE HAVE POSITIVE CASES ON CAMPUS.

SO FOR ELEMENTARY, BECAUSE MOST OF OUR STUDENTS AT ELEMENTARY ARE IN EITHER A SINGLE CLASS OR TWO CLASSES, WE WILL BE NOTIFYING THE ENTIRE CLASS WHEN WE HAVE A CASE IN THAT CLASS.

AND SO THAT WILL BE THE NOTIFICATION.

IF THERE'S A STUDENT IN THAT CLASS OR A TEACHER IN THAT CLASS, THAT TESTS POSITIVE.

AT THE SECONDARY LEVEL WHERE THEY'RE MIXING AND MATCHING KIND OF THROUGHOUT THE DAY ACROSS CAMPUS, WE'LL BE NOTIFYING THE ENTIRE CAMPUS WITH A LETTER THAT WILL LET THEM KNOW WHEN WE HAVE A POSITIVE CASE REPORTED TO US.

THOSE LETTERS WILL GO OUT THE DAY THAT WE GET THE REPORT OR SHORTLY OR THE NEXT MORNING IF WE GET ONE OVERNIGHT.

SO THAT'S, WE WILL BE NOTIFYING OF THAT.

NOW, WHEN WE TALKED BACK IN MAY, WE TALKED ABOUT NOT HAVING A DASHBOARD ON THE WEBSITE.

I THINK A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE HOW TIME INTENSIVE AND WORK AND LABOR INTENSIVE THAT DASHBOARD WAS.

SO BUT WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A MODIFIED VERSION OF THE DASHBOARD ON THE WEBSITE.

I'M WORKING WITH COMMUNICATIONS ON GETTING THAT UP AND RUNNING RIGHT NOW.

AND IT WILL LIST THE NUMBER OF CASES FOR EACH CAMPUS THAT WERE REPORTED TO US.

AND THESE ARE CASES THAT ARE PEOPLE WHO ARE ACTUALLY ON CAMPUS DURING THE INFECTIOUS PERIOD, WHICH IS 48 HOURS PRIOR TO SYMPTOMS STARTING THROUGH THE END OF THEIR QUARANTINE PERIOD.

SO IF THEY WERE ON CAMPUS DURING THAT PERIOD AND WE FIND OUT THAT THEY TESTED POSITIVE, THEN WE WILL HAV THAT NUMBER AND THOSE THAT WILL BE UPDATED EACH WEEK ON OUR WEBSITE SO THAT PEOPLE CAN SEE HOW MANY CASES WERE REPORTED IN THE PREVIOUS WEEK.

PARENTS AND STAFF ARE CONTINUING TO BE REQUIRED TO REPORT TO US IF THEIR STUDENT TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID.

AGAIN, BECAUSE OF THAT NEW DEPARTMENT OF STATE HEALTH SERVICES RULE ABOUT COVID-19 PARENTS ARE REQUIRED TO KEEP THEIR STUDENT HOME IF THEY HAVE SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19 JUST LIKE THEY WOULD FOR THE FLU OR ANY OTHER ILLNESS.

AND I THINK THOSE ARE KIND OF THE MAIN HIGH LEVEL THINGS.

BUT I'M HAPPY TO ANSWER QUESTIONS IF YOU HAVE SPECIFIC QUESTIONS.

I'M GOING OVER THEM AND THANK YOU.

OK, I THINK WE'RE GOOD.

I JUST WANT I THOUGHT IT WAS VERY IMPORTANT.

[01:00:01]

WE'VE RECEIVED HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF EMAILS IN THE LAST FOUR DAYS, AND I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT THAT WE'RE JUST VERY TRANSPARENT WITH WHAT WE ARE DOING.

AND SO THANK YOU FOR THAT INFORMATION.

YES.

AND ONE OTHER NOTE I'LL MAKE IS THAT JUST AS WE'VE DONE THROUGHOUT THIS ENTIRE PANDEMIC, THESE PROTOCOLS HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED IN COLLABORATION WITH OUR LOCAL HEALTH AUTHORITY, DR. MARK GAMBER, WHO'S A LOCAL HEALTH AUTHORITY FOR THE CITIES OF FRISCO AND CITY OF PLANO.

HE'S AN EMERGENCY ROOM DOCTOR.

HE TREATS COVID PATIENTS.

THIS IS A THE PHYSICIAN THAT HAS BEEN HELPING US WITH THESE PROTOCOLS THROUGHOUT THIS ENTIRE PROCESS.

AND THIS CONTINUES TO BE THE CASE WITH OUR PROTOCOLS RIGHT NOW.

SO THANK YOU.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

APPRECIATE THAT.

WE WILL.

I WAS JUST GOING TO POINT OUT, THIS IS OUR LAST BOARD MEETING, AND SINCE I WAS THE ONE THAT WAS POINTING IT OUT AT THE END OF IT THAT ILA PILOT, THERE'S A VERY NICE DETAILED FIGURE ON OUR WEBSITE.

IT'S NOT ON FACEBOOK.

IT'S NOT ON TWITTER.

IT'S ON THE DISTRICT'S WEBSITE.

AND POINT EVERYBODY THERE TO GET THAT INFORMATION.

IT'S GOT A LOT OF THE HOW, WHY, WHAT.

THE FACT THAT IT IS A PILOT WITH SEVERAL OF OUR SCHOOLS.

IT IS A PILOT NOT BEING PUSHED DOWN FROM ON HIGH BECAUSE SOME OF OUR CAMPUSES ASKED FOR IT.

SO THERE'S MORE OUT THERE.

I'M JUST POINTING THAT OUT SO EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT IT'S THERE.

IT WAS POSTED IN JULY.

THANK YOU.

THANK YOU.

[8.A. Consider and act on approval of minutes from June 14 regular meeting, June 22 special meeting, July 13 special meeting, and July 28 special meeting.]

DANNY'S HERE.

ONE OF THESE DAYS I'M GOING TO LET YOU FINISH ASKING ME TO COME UP BEFORE I DO.

SO WE TALKED ABOUT THESE POLICIES PRIOR IN CLOSED SESSION.

SO JUST SO YOU ALL KNOW, FOR FOR EVERYBODY ELSE, THIS IS A BASICALLY WHAT WE'VE DONE WITH THESE POLICIES IS WE'VE WORKED TO CLARIFY KIND OF OUR OUR PRACTICE AND OUR PROCEDURES FOR HANDLING COMPLAINTS.

THESE ARE COMPLAINTS PROCESSES.

WHAT WE FOUND IS THAT AT TIMES THEY CAN BE CONFUSING FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE GOING THROUGH THAT PROCESS BECAUSE EVERYTHING WASN'T REALLY LAID OUT SPECIFICALLY IN THERE.

AND SO WE'VE TRIED TO DO THAT.

WE'VE ALSO WORKED ON ADJUSTING TO ADDRESS KIND OF SOME ADMINISTRATIVE CHALLENGES, MAKING SURE THAT WE'RE DIRECTING PEOPLE TO THE RIGHT PLACE WHEN THEY HAVE CONCERNS, THOSE KINDS OF THINGS, TRYING TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE COMPLAINING TO PROVIDE INFORMATION TO US AND TO ALL IF THEY GO TO THAT LEVEL.

SO UNLESS YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, WE RECOMMEND THE REVISIONS.

[9.A. Discussion regarding Temporary Online School for the 2021-2022 school year]

SO 9A, DISCUSSION REGARDING TEMPORARY ONLINE SCHOOL FOR THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR.

DR. CUNNINGHAM ? GOOD EVENING.

THANKS FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE SOME INFORMATION WITH YOU ABOUT OUR TEMPORARY ONLINE SCHOOL.

AS YOU'RE AWARE, WE ARE OFFERING TEMPORARY ONLINE SCHOOL AS AN OPTION FOR STUDENTS SIXTH GRADE AND BELOW.

FOR AT LEAST THE FIRST NINE WEEKS, WE WILL BEGIN TO REEVALUATE AND EXTEND THIS OPTION AS NECESSARY UNTIL A VACCINE IS AUTHORIZED AND WIDELY AVAILABLE.

SO PUBLIC INFORMATION WE TALKED ABOUT.

DETAILS HERE.

FIRST, I CAN'T SAY ANYTHING WITHOUT TALKING ABOUT THE FLEXIBILITY, THE PROFESSIONALISM, THE OPTIMISM OF OUR TEACHERS, WHO JUST ABOUT A WEEK AGO LEARNED THAT THIS IS A POSSIBILITY AND THEIR RESPONSE.

AND LATER ON, WE'LL DO A SHOUT OUT TO THE FOLKS BEHIND THE SCENES HAVE BEEN WORKING TIRELESSLY TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

I'M JUST SO PROUD TO WORK WITH OUR STAFF.

[01:10:01]

OUR STUDENTS ARE GOING TO BE SCHEDULED INTO A TEMPORARY ONLINE SCHOOL COURSE, BUT THEY WILL STILL BE REMAIN AT THEIR HOME CAMPUS SO THAT WHEN WE RETURN THEM TO FACE TO FACE INSTRUCTION, THAT'S POSSIBLE AND EASY FOR ME TO MAINTAIN CONTACT.

SO WHAT'S THIS GOING TO LOOK LIKE? SIMILAR TO LAST YEAR'S VIRTUAL ACADEMY WITH SOME IMPROVEMENTS, WE GOT A LOT OF GREAT FEEDBACK FROM OUR STAFF THIS LAST YEAR AND PUT A LOT OF THAT INTO ACTION IN PLANNING FOR SOME POSSIBILITIES THIS YEAR AND REALLY HAD A CHANCE THIS LAST WEEK OR SO TO KIND OF PUT THAT INTO PLAY.

THEY WILL FOLLOW THE STUDENTS IN THE TEMPORARY ONLINE SCHOOL WITH ALL THE SAME SCOPE AND SEQUENCE AS OUR FACE TO FACE INSTRUCTION STUDENTS WILL.

THEY WILL HAVE SOME LIVE INSTRUCTION THROUGH GOOGLE MEET EACH INSTRUCTIONAL BLOCK.

SO WE TALK A LOT ABOUT SYNCHRONOUS AND ASYNCHRONOUS.

THE SYNCHRONOUS SUPPORT WILL BE REGULAR THROUGH EACH INSTRUCTIONAL BROUGHT AND THEY'LL HAVE SOME OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDEPENDENT LEARNING, COOPERATING WITH EACH OTHER AND TIME FOR SUPPORT FROM THEIR TEACHER, TEACHER'S ASSISTANT AND SUPPORT STAFF AS NECESSARY.

WE WILL HAVE THE SAME INSTRUCTION EXPECTATIONS AND FEEDBACK PROVIDED IN OUR FACE TO FACE INSTRUCTIONAL ENVIRONMENT.

AGAIN, A LOT OF THIS IS SIMILAR TO HOW WE APPROACHED LAST YEAR WITH OUR VIRTUAL ACADEMY.

THE CLASS SCHEDULE FOR STUDENTS.

THEY'RE GOING TO FOLLOW THE TYPICAL SCHEDULE THEY WOULD FOLLOW IN THE FACE TO FACE ENVIRONMENT.

AGAIN, I WAS PROUD OF THE WORK FOR OUR TEACHERS TO MAKE VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION, POSITIVE FOR STUDENTS, RIGOROUS FOR OUR STUDENTS.

AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO DO THAT AT A HIGH QUALITY, JUST LIKE WE HAVE THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF.

SO WE'VE GOT A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT SLIDES ON THE DIFFERENT SUPPORT, SO WE GET A LOT OF QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW ARE WE GOING TO SUPPORT OUR STANCE IN THIS TEMPORARY ONLINE SCHOOL .

OUR IEP ENTITLED.

STUDENTS ARE GOING TO RECEIVE INSTRUCTION RELATED SERVICES AS INDICATED IN THEIR IEP.

OUR GT STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE THEIR SERVICES VIRTUALLY AND BILINGUAL STUDENTS WILL ACCESS THE SAME CURRICULUM AS A FACE TO FACE PEERS.

OUR ENGLISH LEARNERS WILL BE SERVED BY CERTIFIED ESL TEACHER AND THEIR ELR INSTRUCTION THAT THAT'S ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS AND OUR DYSLEXIA LESSONS WILL BEGIN THE THIRD WEEK OF SCHOOL AND VIRTUAL STUDENTS WILL BE SERVED IN SYNCHRONIZED ENVIRONMENT.

THIS IS GENERALLY EVERY SCHOOL YEAR WE START THE SELECTION INSTRUCTION ABOUT THE THIRD WEEK OF SCHOOL.

SO THIS IS NOT NEW.

BUT WHAT IS NEW THIS YEAR IN OUR TEMPORARY ONLINE SCHOOL COMPARED TO LAST YEAR'S VIRTUAL ACADEMY IS THAT WE WILL HAVE ALL OF OUR TEMPORARY ONLINE SCHOOLS CODED INTO A SYNCHRONIZED ENVIRONMENT.

WE HAVE SOME STUDENTS MIXED.

LAST YEAR WE WORKED REALLY HARD TO MAKE SURE THAT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

SO ONE OF THE THINGS WE ASK AND WE HAVE THIS PHRASE, PARENT IS LEARNING COACH, WE KNOW THAT OUR STUDENTS ARE BEING SERVED BY OUR PROFESSIONAL CERTIFIED TEACHERS IN FRISCO ISD, BUT WE DO NEED SOME HELP FROM OUR PARENTS TO ENCOURAGE OUR STUDENTS TO ENSURE THAT THEY'RE PARTICIPATING IN THE INSTRUCTION THAT REGULAR.

ENSURE THEIR STUDENTS BEHAVIOR REFLECTS THE SAME CHARACTERISTICS THAT WE WOULD HAVE IN OUR FACE TO FACE CLASSROOMS. AND SO WE ASKED FOR OUR PARENTS TO HELP US OUT A LITTLE BIT WITH THAT.

JUST AS IMPORTANT AS OUR ACADEMIC CONTENT IS, OUR GUIDANCE COUNSELORS SUPPORT OUR COUNSELORS WILL CONTINUE TO PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE GUIDANCE, COUNSELING SERVICES TO OUR STUDENTS IN A VIRTUAL SETTING IN BOTH ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY CAMPUSES.

AND IN THESE COURSES, STUDENTS WILL GET ALL OF THEIR MANDATORY GUIDANCE AND PREVENTION LESSONS THROUGH ADVISORY AND IE TIME AND CLASS MEETINGS.

AND ADDITIONALLY, OUR COUNSELORS WILL CONTINUE SCHEDULE TIME WITH STUDENTS FROM THEIR HOME CAMPUS TO HELP MAINTAIN THAT CONNECTION AND SUPPORT WHILE THEY'RE AT HOME.

I KNOW THAT WE'VE SENT OUT A LOT OF EMAILS, A LOT OF INFORMATION OUT THERE, AND OUR WEBSITE CONTINUES TO BE AN AMAZING SITE FOR INFORMATION.

PLEASE KNOW THAT THERE ARE A VARIETY OF HANDBOOKS FOR PARENTS, STUDENTS, A LOT OF WE CONTINUE TO GET UPDATES FAIRLY REGULARLY AND THAT YOU GO TO OUR MAIN WEB PAGE AND HIT COVID-19.

YOU CAN GET RIGHT THERE.

SO NOW FOR THE FUN PART, OUR CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER TO TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HOW WE'RE FINDING THIS.

THANK YOU.

UM.

FIRST, I WANT TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO DR.

CUNNINGHAM FOR CREATING SUCH A CUTE POWERPOINT SLIDE.

WE WERE JUST TALKING ABOUT ALL OF THESE AMAZING CHOICES THAT WERE ON HERE.

WE, I LOVE IT A LOT.

I LIKE THE RAINBOWS.

IT'S JUST SUCH A HAPPY PRESENTATION.

TALKING ABOUT FINANCES ALWAYS BETTER WITH THE RAINBOWS.

IT REALLY IS.

YEAH.

SO, UM, SO IN TERMS OF HOW WE'RE FUNDING THE TEMPORARY ONLINE SCHOOL, AS OF THIS MORNING WE HAD EIGHT THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED THIRTEEN STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THIS TEMPORARY ONLINE OPTION, INCLUDING ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN STUDENTS WHO ARE ENROLLED IN CENTRALIZED SPECIAL PROGRAMS, RUNNING ALL OF THAT THROUGH OUR STATE AID TEMPLATE.

IF ALL OF THOSE STUDENTS REMAIN ONLINE FOR THE ENTIRE FALL SEMESTER, WE ESTIMATE

[01:15:05]

THAT WE WILL LOSE JUST OVER TWENTY NINE POINT SIX DOLLARS MILLION IN REVENUE FOR THE SEMESTER.

CAN YOU NOT HEAR ME? YOU WANT ME TO STAND CLOSER TO THE MICROPHONE? IS THAT BETTER? OK, SO IF ALL EIGHTY, TWO HUNDRED AND THIRTEEN STUDENTS REMAIN ENROLLED FOR THE FALL SEMESTER, WE ESTIMATE JUST OVER TWENTY NINE POINT SIX DOLLARS MILLION IN REVENUE THAT WE WILL NOT RECEIVE THROUGH THE FOUNDATION SCHOOL PROGRAM.

IN ADDITION TO THE LOST REVENUE IN TERMS OF RESOURCES, WE'RE ESTIMATING ABOUT TWO POINT TWO MILLION DOLLARS IN COST FOR THIS TEMPORARY ONLINE OPTION, THAT COST IS MADE UP OF 25 TEACHER FTES, 15 OF THOSE WERE ALREADY BUDGETED.

IF YOU GUYS REMEMBER WHEN WE ADOPTED THE GENERAL FUND BUDGET BACK IN JUNE, WE PUT A KIND OF A PLACEHOLDER FOR 15 TEACHER FTE ALLOCATIONS JUST IN CASE WE NEEDED THEM IN CASE A VIRTUAL OPTION BECAME AVAILABLE.

SO WE'VE GOT THOSE ALREADY IN THE BUDGET.

WE'RE ADDING ANOTHER 10 TO THAT JUST TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY'RE ALL AVAILABLE.

WE MAY OR MAY NOT NEED TO USE ALL OF THEM AS WE FLUSH OUT ALL OF THE STAFFING OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS AND THEN ADDITIONAL 900,000 DOLLARS IN SOFTWARE AND INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS.

I DO WANT TO BE CLEAR THAT WITH ALL OF THE COST AND WITH THE REVENUE LOST, WE HAVE NO PLANS TO REDUCE OR DIVERT ANY EXISTING BUDGET MONEY OR ESSER III GRANT MONEY THAT WE TALKED ABOUT BACK IN JUNE TO PAY FOR THIS OPTION.

WHAT WE WILL BE USING TO PAY FOR IT IS MONEY PROVIDED THROUGH A SUPPLEMENTAL ESSAR GRANT.

THESE ARE ADDITIONAL FUNDS AUTHORIZED BY HB 15 25 DURING THE REGULAR SESSION TO PROVIDE SUPPLEMENTAL GRANT FUNDS TO DISTRICTS THAT HAVE BASICALLY LOW ESSAR DISTRICTS.

SO DISTRICTS LIKE FRISCO ISD, WHO DIDN'T RECEIVE A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF MONEY THROUGH THE ESSAR ONE AND MR. TO GRANT PROGRAMS THIS CORONAVIRUS RELIEF PROGRAMS. WE IF YOU REMEMBER, WE DIDN'T RECEIVE A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF MONEY THROUGH THOSE BECAUSE OUR TITLE WAS BASED ON TITLE ONE POPULATION AND OUR TITLE ONE POPULATION IS LOW ENOUGH THAT IT JUST DIDN'T CALCULATE TO A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FUNDING FOR US.

SO THIS MONEY IS SUPPLEMENTAL GRANT MONEY THAT WE WERE NOT EXPECTING TO RECEIVE UNTIL AGE 15 FIVE WAS PASSED AND WE DIDN'T KNOW HOW MUCH MONEY THAT WAS GOING TO BE UNTIL REALLY JUST ABOUT A MONTH AGO.

SO WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE.

WE ARE GETTING JUST OVER 33 MILLION DOLLARS IN SUPPLEMENTAL ESSAR FUNDS.

THAT'S OUR PRELIMINARY ENTITLEMENT FROM TEA.

THAT MONEY, THE TOTAL MONEY COULD CHANGE.

IT'S BASED ON SOME STUDENT COUNTS AND SOME DIFFERENT METRICS THAT WE WON'T HAVE FINAL NUMBERS ON UNTIL THE OCTOBER PEEMS SNAPSHOT.

IT'S ALSO A TWO YEAR ALLOCATION, SO THAT 33 MILLION IS SPLIT IN HALF AND IT MAY CHANGE AGAIN NEXT OCTOBER WHEN WE GET PEEMS FOR NEXT YEAR.

SO IT IS A TWO YEAR ALLOCATION AND THE ACCOUNTING MIGHT BE A LITTLE BIT FUNNY FOR TWO YEARS, BUT WE ARE PLANNING TO USE ALL OF THIS MONEY TO HELP BOTH OFFSET THE LOSS IN REVENUE AND PAY FOR THOSE ADDITIONAL COSTS.

WHEN YOU SUBTRACT OUT THE TOTAL COST OF THE TEMPORARY ONLINE SCHOOL, THAT LEAVES US WITH JUST UNDER TWO MILLION DOLLARS OF ADDITIONAL MONEY TO ADDRESS OTHER EFFECTS OF COVID-19 THROUGH THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR.

AND WE WILL BE BRINGING YOU MORE INFORMATION, YOU KNOW, AS WE GO WITH HOW WE'RE GOING TO SPEND THOSE FUNDS.

SO THE WAY THAT THIS WILL WORK IS WE PLAN TO SUPPLANT OUR CURRENT YEAR EXPENSES WITH GRANT FUNDS TO OFFSET OUR REVENUE LOSS, WHICH ESSENTIALLY MEANS WE'RE GOING TO PAY FOR WHAT WE NEED TO PAY FOR.

AND THEN THROUGH ACCOUNTING, WE'LL MOVE THOSE EXPENSES OUT OF OUR GENERAL FUND AND INTO THIS GRANT FUND.

SO MUCH SO THAT WE OFFSET OUR REVENUE LOSS AND DON'T NEED IT TO FUND BALANCE.

WE WILL PROBABLY BE BRINGING YOU BUDGET AMENDMENTS ON THIS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, LIKE I SAID, BECAUSE WE'RE STILL GETTING GUIDANCE FROM TO YOU AND HOW THIS WORKS.

OUR BUDGET AND OUR FINANCE, OUR BOOKS MAY LOOK A LITTLE WONKY FOR A LITTLE BIT OF TIME, BUT AT THE END OF THE YEAR, IT ALL BALANCE ITSELF OUT.

WE ALSO STILL HAVEN'T COMPLETELY LOST HOPE THAT THE STATE WON'T ACTUALLY PAY FOR THIS THROUGH THE FOUNDATION SCHOOL PROGRAM.

FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT DON'T KNOW, REPRESENTATIVE BELL FILED HB 30 ON FRIDAY IN THIS SECOND SPECIAL SESSION TO PROVIDE A WAY FOR THE STATE TO FIND REMOTE INSTRUCTION.

AND IN THE ABSENCE OF ANY LEGISLATION, DR.

CUNNINGHAM AND HIS GROUP ARE WORKING ON A WAIVER WITH TEA TO TRY AND CONVINCE TEA THAT WHAT WE'RE DOING IS WORTH BEING FUNDED THROUGH THE FOUNDATION SCHOOL PROGRAM.

SO WE'RE TRYING TO EXHAUST EVERY OPTION POSSIBLE, BUT WE DO HAVE THE GRANT MONEY AVAILABLE TO US IF WE DON'T GET OTHER STATE SUPPORT.

AND IN CLOSING, I'M REALLY SPEAKING ON BEHALF OF ISD HERE, NOT JUST FOR MYSELF, BUT WE

[01:20:01]

WANTED TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO ALL THE PEOPLE THAT WORKED TO MAKE THIS OPTION HAPPEN.

AND THEY'RE NOT ALL LISTED ON THE SCREEN BECAUSE THE SCREEN WASN'T BIG ENOUGH FOR ALL OF THEM.

SO WE LISTED GROUPS OF PEOPLE.

BUT I'LL OPEN THAT BACK UP TO DR.

CUNNINGHAM OR ANYBODY ELSE IF THEY WANT TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT.

AND I THANK YOU, BUT WE REALLY APPRECIATE ALL THE WORK THAT OUR PEOPLE HAVE DONE FOR THIS.

AND WE'LL TAKE QUESTIONS ON THIS AND THEN I'LL TALK ABOUT THE EMPLOYEE LEAVE OPTION WHILE WE CONTINUE TO BE AMAZED BY HOW NIMBLE THIS MASSIVE DISTRICT CONTINUES TO BE THROUGH COVID.

SO A SHOUT OUT TO EVERYONE HERE THAT IS LISTED AND ALL THE OTHER THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THAT IT TAKES TO MAKE THESE DECISIONS TO IMPLEMENT THEM WELL, TO STILL PROVIDE THE RIGOR FOR WHICH FRISCO ISD IS KNOWN.

WE ARE SO THANKFUL AS A BOARD FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU.

SO THANK YOU FOR THAT.

AND LIKE YOU, WE CONTINUE TO BE HOPEFUL THAT IN THIS SECOND SPECIAL SESSION DOWN IN AUSTIN THAT WE WILL SEE SOME REALLY GREAT STUFF COME OUT ABOUT VIRTUAL LEARNING AND FUNDING SO THAT WE CAN UTILIZE OUR SRO FUNDS FOR OTHER INITIATIVES.

BUT IF NOT, IT'S A GREAT IT'S A GREAT PLAN AND WE ARE SO APPRECIATIVE.

SO THANK YOU ALL.

BOARD, ANY QUESTIONS? NO, JUST GOING TO THANK.

THANK YOU GUYS AGAIN, I HAD A PRIMARY CONCERN FOR THE KIDS THAT WERE UNDER 12 AND DID NOT YET HAVE A CHOICE.

I'M GLAD WE'VE GIVEN THEM ONE.

AND THEY CAN JOIN THOSE IN SEVEN THROUGH 12, TOO.

THANK YOU.

ALL RIGHT, REALLY QUICKLY, BEFORE I GO SIT BACK DOWN, I WANTED TO TALK ABOUT THE RESOLUTION THAT WE'RE GOING TO BRING TO YOU GUYS AT YOUR SPECIAL MEETING ON FRIDAY REGARDING PAID LEAVE FOR EMPLOYEES.

SO WE ARE GOING TO RECOMMEND THAT WE OFFER A PAID LEAVE OPTION FOR EMPLOYEES WHO TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID-19.

AS YOU KNOW, AS MR. STOCKTON MENTIONED, THE REQUIREMENT IS TO STAY OUT AND ISOLATE FOR 10 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF SYMPTOM ONSET, WHICH COULD MEAN UP TO EIGHT DAYS OF WORK IF AN EMPLOYEE TESTS POSITIVE.

SO MUCH LIKE WE DID LAST YEAR WITH OUR EMERGENCY PAID SICK LEAVE, WE'RE GOING TO RECOMMEND A RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE PAID LEAVE FOR UP TO EIGHT DAYS FOR AN EMPLOYEE WHO TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID-19.

EIGHT DAYS OF PAID LEAVE SHOULD GET THEM THROUGH THE END OF THEIR ISOLATION PERIOD.

AND THEN IF THEY'RE SICK BEYOND THAT, THEY HAVE OTHER LEAVE OPTIONS AVAILABLE TO THEM.

WE'RE GOING TO MAKE THE RESOLUTION EFFECTIVE MONDAY, AUGUST 16TH.

WE'LL BRING IT TO YOU FRIDAY.

WE'LL MAKE IT EFFECTIVE MONDAY.

AND THEN WE'RE GOING TO HAVE IT LAST THROUGH DECEMBER 31ST AND THEN REEVALUATE IN DECEMBER IF WE WANT TO EXTEND THAT THROUGH THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.

ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THAT? WE'LL BRING THAT TO YOU GUYS ON FRIDAY.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

THANKS FOR THAT UPDATE.

SO WE'LL ROLL RIGHT INTO DISCUSSION REGARDING CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION.

[9.B. Discussion regarding Curriculum and Instruction Transparency]

DR.

CUNNINGHAM.

AGAIN, SO WE JUST WANT TO TALK A LITTLE BIT WITH YOU GUYS AND SHARE A LITTLE BIT WITH YOU ABOUT WHAT OUR STUDENTS LEARN, HOW THEY LEARN AND WHAT WE TEACH.

THIS WILL BE I'LL DO MY BEST NOT TO GO ALL COLLEGE PROFESSOR ON YOU WITH SOME STUFF THAT I WANT TO SHARE SOME THINGS WITH YOU.

FIRST, YOU SEE A GRAPHIC ON THE LEFT.

I KNOW YOU'VE WARNED YOU'VE SEEN THIS BEFORE.

A LOT OF OUR FOLKS, OUR LEADERS HAVE SEEN THIS.

ON THE LEFT, WE HAVE OUR FUTURE READY FOCUS AREA GRAPHIC.

WE WANT OUR STUDENTS IN FRISCO ISD TO GRADUATE READY FOR WHATEVER THEIR FUTURE IS, AND WE HAVE AN AWFUL LOT OF SUPPORT WITHIN OUR SYSTEM TO ENSURE THAT IT HAPPENS.

AND WE'VE HIGHLIGHTED A FEW AREAS THROUGH THIS GRAPHIC.

NO ONE IS GUARANTEED A VIABLE CURRICULUM.

TWO IS DIFFERENTIATE INSTRUCTION ASSESSMENT.

AND WE HAVE STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP AND STRATEGIC, COLLABORATIVE LEADERSHIP.

WE HAVE LEARNER CENTERED ENVIRONMENT AND WE HAVE A FOCUS ON THE WHOLE CHILD.

WE DO THAT IN SUCH A WAY THAT OUR STUDENTS CAN REPRESENT THE ATTRIBUTES ON THE PROFILE OF FUTURE READY LEARNER.

SO THAT WHEN THEY, WHETHER IN THEIR INSTRUCTION, OUTSIDE WORKING, WHEN THEY GRADUATE FROM FRISCO ISD AND GO ON TO WHATEVER THEIR FUTURE HOLDS, THEY'RE ABLE TO MAKE THESE CONNECTIONS IN SUCH A WAY TO WHATEVER CONTENT, CONCEPTS, SKILLS THEY COME ACROSS.

THEY CAN DO IT IN THIS MANNER.

AND SO THAT'S WHAT WE'RE ABOUT.

AND THAT'S WHAT MAKES FRISCO ISD SO SPECIAL AND SO DIFFERENT.

WE ALSO TALK ABOUT WHAT WE TEACH AND WE TALK A LOT ABOUT STANDARDS, AND IN FRISCO ISD EACH COURSE IS BASED ON A SET OF STANDARDS WE'RE REQUIRED TO TEACH.

THE BULK OF OUR CLASSES ARE THROUGH THE TEXAS ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS WE CALL THEM TEKS SOME CALL THEM TEKS.

[01:25:01]

THEY'RE WRONG, IT'S STINKS, BUT WE HAVE A COLLEGE BOARD STANDARDS.

WE HAVE COLLEGE COURSE STANDARDS FOR DUAL CREDIT, WE HAVE WORKFORCE STANDARDS IN SOME OF OUR CT COURSES.

BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT EACH COURSE WE TEACH IS BASED ON A SET OF STANDARDS THAT WERE REQUIRED TO GO THROUGH.

WE TALK AN AWFUL LOT ABOUT THE TEKS IN FRISCO AND YOU CAN GET THOSE ANYWHERE.

I WAS GOING TO SAY YOU CAN GOOGLE THEM OR WHATEVER YOUR PREFERRED SEARCH ENGINE IS.

YOU CAN LOOK AND TYPE IN TEKS AND THIS WILL COME UP.

BUT DID A LITTLE BIT OF RESEARCH, AND JUST IN THE CORE AREAS, AS OUR STUDENTS GO FROM PRE-K THROUGH GRADE 12, JUST THE CORE AREAS, THEY ARE EXPOSED TO AND EXPECTED TO LEARN A STAGGERING 7,332 STANDARDS BY THE TIME THEY GRADUATE FROM FRISCO ISD.

THAT'S JUST THE CORE AREAS.

CAN'T CALCULATE COLLECTIVE ERRORS BECAUSE IT KIND OF DEPENDS ON WHAT PATH THEY TAKE.

AND SO THERE IS AN AWFUL LOT THAT'S REQUIRED FOR OUR STUDENTS TO BE EXPOSED TO.

SO THAT'S IMPORTANT WHEN WE TALK AND I SAY A LOT, WE TALK ABOUT GUARANTEEING A VIABLE CURRICULUM, SOMETIMES WE'LL SLIP IN LITTLE ACRONYM LANGUAGE AND CALL IT GVC.

WHAT THAT'S ABOUT IS GUARANTEEING THAT STUDENTS ARE EXPOSED TO THEIR GRADE LEVEL STANDARDS.

THAT'S A ACROSS THE BOARD.

THE VIABLE PEACE ALLOWS OUR STUDENTS TO HAVE THE TIME AND THE APPROPRIATE INTERACTION TO ENSURE THAT WE CAN MEET OUR STUDENTS BY SO IT'S WHAT'S INTENDED, WHAT'S IMPLEMENTED WITH THE TAINT.

THAT'S AGAIN, IF YOU TAKE THE STANDARDS AND YOU TAKE HOW WE APPROACH THOSE.

THAT'S WHAT MAKES FRISCO ISD SO SPECIAL.

WE ALLOW OUR TEACHERS A GREAT AMOUNT OF AUTONOMY AND HOW THEY DO THAT BECAUSE THEY NEED TO MEET THE THERE'S NO WAY THAT MY DEPARTMENT, AS AMAZING AND AWESOME AS THEY ARE, COULD DICTATE HOW TEACHERS NEED TO BEHAVE IN A CLASSROOM IN SUCH A WAY TO MEET THE NEEDS OF OUR STUDENTS.

WE DO, HOWEVER, PROVIDE SOME SUPPORTS FOR OUR TEACHERS AND JUST A COUPLE OF THOSE WE TALK ABOUT A LOT OF SCOPE AND SEQUENCE.

I'M GOING TO SHOW YOU DRAFT IN A SECOND ABOUT HELLWEG SHOCK STANDARDS SO THAT STUDENTS CAN SCAFFOLD LEARNING.

AND THAT IS ALL THE AMAZING WORK OF OUR TEACHERS.

BACK A 100 YEARS AGO, WHEN I WAS IN SCHOOL, WE OPENED A TEXTBOOK PAGE ONE.

AND THEN WE TURN TO PAGE TWO AND THEN WE TURN TO PAGE THREE.

THAT'S NOT HOW WE DO IT IN FRISCO ISD.

WE LOOK AT THE STANDARDS AND OUR TEACHERS TELL US HERE'S HOW YOU SHOULD ORGANIZE THE STANDARDS IN SUCH A WAY THAT STUDENTS CAN LEARN THIS.

AND IN FACT, SOMETIMES WE HAVE,THOSE ARE REALLY, REALLY IMPORTANT STANDARDS THAT WE HAVE TO MAKE SURE STUDENTS GET.

AND WE IDENTIFY THOSE WE CALL THOSE OUT.

AND THOSE CHANGE FROM YEAR TO YEAR BASED ON THE NEEDS OF OUR STUDENTS.

WE HAVE VERTICAL ALIGNMENT DOCUMENTS THAT HELP OUR TEACHERS UNDERSTAND THAT WHAT THEY TEACH IN FOURTH GRADE IMPACTS FIFTH GRADE AND SOME OF THE LEARNING FROM THIRD GRADE GOES UP.

IT'S ABOUT A THREE YEAR SPAN, MOST OF THOSE CASES.

WE DO HORIZONTAL ALIGNMENT DOCUMENTS AND A LOT OF CASES, IT'S AMAZING TO WATCH THE STANDARDS AND THE CONCEPTS AND THE WAY WE TEACH THESE THINGS, NOT JUST IN MATH, BUT IT IMPACTS HOW THEY UNDERSTAND SCIENCE, ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS, SOCIAL STUDIES AND ALL OF THE ELECTIVES.

IT'S ACTUALLY, I CALL IT THE MAGIC, WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS WITH OUR FOLKS.

THE OUTSIDE CIRCLE, JUST GIVES YOU AN IDEA OF SOME OF THE, WHAT SOME OF OUR TEACHERS USE .

WHAT SUPPORTS STUDENT LEARNING? AND WE TALK A LOT ABOUT ADOPTED MATERIALS, THAT'S THE PROOF BY THE STATE, WE ADOPT THOSE.

EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, WE TALK ABOUT INSTRUCTION MATERIALS, ALLOTMENT AND USE THOSE FUNDS TO ADOPT THE TEXTBOOK SO THAT WE HAVE A BASE PIECE OF SUPPORT FOR OUR STUDENTS.

BUT WE HAVE A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF PROFESSIONAL LEARNING THAT'S TARGETED, JOB EMBEDDED, JUST IN TIME FOR OUR FOLKS.

WE HAVE LEARNING FOR ALL STUDENTS, WHETHER THEY'RE IN GT SPECIAL POPULATIONS OR RTI, WHICH IS NOW YOU'LL HEAR US TALK ABOUT NTSS.

IT'S THE SAME THING.

IT'S JUST SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS THAT SCAFFOLD, MAKE SURE THAT WE MEET THEIR NAMES AND NEEDS.

SO WE TALK ABOUT GBC.

I JUST KIND OF WANT TO SHOWCASE THAT WITH YOU.

I WILL TELL YOU THIS.

WE DO PROVIDE SOME CURRICULUM DOCUMENTS FOR OUR STAFF.

WE PROVIDE SOME EXAMPLES OF LESSONS.

WE PROVIDE A LOT OF SUPPORT WITH DIFFERENT STRATEGIES AND SUPPORT THAT TEACHERS CAN USE.

AND WE PROVIDE A LOT OF VARIETY ASSESSMENTS, HOW TO EXAMINE ASSESSMENTS.

AND WE HAVE A PROCESS THAT WE TRAIN TEACHERS THROUGH SO THAT WE CAN ENSURE THAT BEFORE WE EVER GET IN THE CLASSROOM, OUR TEACHERS HAVE ALL THE SUPPORT THEY NEED TO DO THIS VERY, VERY DIFFICULT JOB THAT THEY DO, DAY IN AND DAY OUT.

SO SPEAKING TO THAT TEACHER PLANNING, THIS DOESN'T COVER EVERYTHING, BUT GENERALLY SPEAKING, BEFORE WE EVEN HAVE OUR TEACHER STEP FOOT IN THE CLASSROOM, THERE'S A CONSIDERATION ON THE WHOLE CHILD.

WE CONSIDER THE ACADEMIC AND NONACADEMIC NEEDS OF OUR STUDENTS.

[01:30:01]

THEN WE TAKE A LOOK AT THOSE STANDARDS I TALK ABOUT, THIS IS WHAT MAKES IT GUARANTEED AND VIABLE.

OUR COLLABORATIVE GROUPS OF TEACHERS WORKING TOGETHER TO PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITY TO ANALYZE THE STANDARDS AND DETERMINE WHAT THEIR STUDENTS NEED THAT TIME AND THAT DAY.

THEY HAVE A LOT OF SUPPORT FROM FOLKS SURROUNDING THEM, CAMPUS ADMINISTRATORS, CENTRAL OFFICE SUPPORTS, ALL OVER THE PLACE.

THEN AFTER THEY EXAMINE THE STANDARDS, THEY PLAN THE ASSESSMENT AND FEEDBACK MECHANISMS. HOW ARE WE GOING TO ASSESS WHAT THIS? HOW DO WE KNOW THE STUDENTS HAVE ATTAINED IT? KNOW THAT THEY'VE GOT IT.

AND WHAT KIND OF FEEDBACK DO WE NEED FROM STUDENTS TO ADJUST OUR LESSONS? AND WHAT KIND OF FEEDBACK CAN WE GIVE OUR STUDENTS SO THAT THEY KNOW WHERE THEY'RE AT? THEN WE CAN BEGIN TO DESIGN INSTRUCTION.

AND THAT COMBINES ALL THAT, THE STANDARD, THE ASSESSMENT, THE INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES, THE FUTURE, IT ALL COMES TOGETHER BEFORE WE EVEN STEP FOOT IN THE CLASSROOM.

I SAID MAGIC, IT'S A SCIENCE AS WELL.

YOU'LL HEAR US TALK ABOUT THE ART AND SCIENCE OF TEACHING.

SO TALK ABOUT SUPPORT FOR TEACHERS WE HAVE A RIDER, THIS IS NOT ALL OF IT, BUT WE HAVE READILY AVAILABLE MATERIAL ON OUR FISD WEBSITE, THAT'S EXTERNAL.

WE HAVE SOME ONDEMAND PROFESSIONAL LEARNING SUPPORT FOR OUR STAFF, THAT'S INTERNAL, BUT OUR TEACHERS HAVE A PLETHORA OF OPPORTUNITIES.

SOME OF IT'S RECORDED WEBINARS, SOME OF ITS DIFFERENT INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES THAT WE'RE FOLLOWING SO WE CAN SHARE WITH THEM WHAT WE TOLD THEM.

IT'S LIKE ANYTHING ELSE WE CAN.

WE SIT THROUGH, OUR TEACHERS SIT THROUGH AN AWFUL LOT OF PROFESSIONAL LEARNING STARTED THE SCHOOL YEAR.

SOME OF IT IS IMPORTANT, RIGHT? THEN SOME OF IT THEY COME BACK TO.

SO THIS IS WHERE THEY CAN DO THAT.

WE HAVE THE STAFF PORTAL WHERE OUR TEACHERS CAN ACCESS A VARIETY OF DIFFERENT THINGS TO SUPPORT STUDENT LEARNING AND SUPPORT THEM.

AND THAT'S JUST A PICTURE OF A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT PIECES THAT WE HAVE AVAILABLE TO OUR STAFF IN THE INTERNAL SIDE.

SO ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE DO WANT TO TALK ABOUT IS, I WANT TO SHARE WITH THE BOARD, IS THAT WE ARE DOING SOME THINGS TO IMPROVE OUR TRANSPARENCY FROM TEACHING OUR DEPARTMENT.

WE WOULD LIKE, FOR THE FIRST POINT OF CONTACT FOR QUESTIONS, COMMENTS ABOUT WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE CLASSROOM TO BE WITH OUR HIGHLY TRAINED, CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL EDUCATORS.

THEY ARE AMAZING AND THEY KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON IN THAT CLASSROOM.

AND THEY CAN TELL YOU, WHICH I JUST SHOWED YOU A SLIDE ALL THE STUFF THAT GOES INTO PLANNING.

THERE'S A LOT IN THERE, BEFORE WE EVEN GET INTO THE CLASSROOM.

AND THEY'RE THE MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT WHAT'S HAPPENING IN OUR CLASSROOMS. WE ARE GOING TO BE POSTING OUR EXTERNAL FACING SCOPE AND SEQUENCE DOCUMENTS, THEY'LL BE AVAILABLE BY THE END OF AUGUST, IF NOT SOONER.

IT'S IMPORTANT TO KNOW THAT THESE HAVE EXISTED IN THE PAST AND WE'VE GOT SOME RIGHT NOW.

WE'RE JUST WE'RE EXAMINING AND REEVALUATING THEM AND MAKING THEM A LITTLE BIT EASIER FOR FOLKS TO ACCESS.

SO IT'S IMPORTANT FOR US TO HAVE THAT TRANSPARENCY.

SO IN TERMS OF THAT, I'LL GIVE YOU EXAMPLE OF WHAT ONE MIGHT LOOK LIKE.

THIS IS SEVENTH GRADE MATH, THIS IS, I COULD UNDERSTAND THIS ONE.

AND SO THIS HAS JUST A LIST OF THE CONCEPTS THAT YOU MIGHT BE TEACHING IN THIS UNIT.

SOMETIMES IT'S KNOWLEDGE, SOMETIMES IT'S SKILLS.

IT'S CONCEPTUAL UNDERSTANDING.

SOMETIMES IT'S HOW WE DO THINGS JUST DEPENDS ON THE UNIT.

OUR TEACHERS, AND YOU'LL HEAR ME TALK ABOUT CURRICULUM WRITING A LOT IN THE SUMMER.

WELL, ITS CURRICULUM DOCUMENT WRITING? OUR TEACHERS GET TOGETHER AND WE LOOK AT THE DATA THAT WE'VE GOT FROM THE PAST FEW YEARS, PLUS THE WONDERFUL ANECDOTAL DATA FROM OUR TEACHERS, WHO HAVE BEEN DOING THIS AND WHAT WE NEED TO MOVE THIS YEAR THAT THEY'RE HERE'S WHAT CAN WORK FOR OUR KIDS, OUR STUDENTS, AND THEN WE IDENTIFY WHERE THEY GO.

AND THEN WE HAVE THESE OF STANDARDS THAT ARE APPROACH TO THAT, SO THESE MATCH THES.E THE LITTLE THINGS WITH THE ASTERISK? THOSE ARE ALL THOSE PRIORITY STANDARDS, THOSE POWER STANDARDS I MENTIONED.

THOSE ARE THE THINGS THAT OUR TEACHERS HAVE BEEN THE MOST IMPORTANT FOR OUR STUDENTS TO, TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS CLASS, IN THIS CONTENT AND IN THIS PARTICULAR TIME.

SO THAT'S JUST AN EXAMPLE OF ONE OF PART ONE MIGHT LOOK LIKE.

SO THE OTHER THING TO SHARE WITH YOU, WE'VE GOT SOME UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES FOR FEEDBACK.

WE'LL BE SHARING WITH YOU ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR SOME CURRICULUM NIGHTS WHERE PARENTS AND COMMUNITY CAN VIEW OUR OFFICIALLY ADOPTED CURRICULUM RESOURCES AVAILABLE FROM FRISCO ISD.

THIS IS WHAT I TALKED ABOUT, ADOPTED MATERIALS.

, THAT'S WHERE THIS WHAT THESE WILL LIVE.

AND WE'LL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHOWCASE WHAT WE'VE GOT AND PROVIDE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR FEEDBACK.

OUR TEACHING LEARNING TEAMS WILL BE PRESENTING TO A VARIETY OF DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES THIS YEAR, BOTH INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL, TO ANSWER QUESTIONS, ADDRESS ANY CONCERNS FOLKS MIGHT HAVE.

AND THEN ON OUR PUBLIC FACING SCOPE AND SEQUENCE DOCUMENTS, WE'LL HAVE A FEEDBACK MECHANISM SO THAT PARENTS CAN ASK QUESTIONS, PROVIDE COMMENTS, AND WE CAN HEAR THAT, THAT'S VALUABLE TO US.

WE TAKE A LOT OF FEEDBACK FROM OUR STAFF, BUT THIS IS INCREASING OUR FEEDBACK FROM OUR STUDENTS, AS WELL AS OUR PARENTS AND COMMUNITY.

AND SO I'M GOING TO TURN IT OVER FOR A MOMENT TO MS. MILLER TO TALK ABOUT SOME OF THE OPPORTUNITIES FOR WHOLE CHILD.

THANK YOU.

I WANTED TO JUMP ON THIS PRESENTATION AND ALSO GIVE SOME INFORMATION ABOUT HOW WE APPROACH OUR SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING CURRICULUM IN THE DISTRICT.

SO FIRST OF ALL, WE WANT PARENTS TO HAVE ACCESS TO WHAT WE'RE DOING IN THE

[01:35:05]

CLASSROOM.

THERE'S GOING TO BE A CUTE LITTLE ICON IN THE PORTAL THAT PARENTS CAN GO INTO.

IT'S GOING TO LOOK LIKE A BRAIN WITH A LITTLE HEART ON IT.

AND IF YOU CLICK ON IT, THIS IS THE EXACT ARGUMENT THAT'S GOING TO COME UP.

AND IN THIS DOCUMENT, FIRST OF ALL, IT'S GOING TO GIVE JUST AN OVERVIEW OF SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING IN THE DISTRICT AND OUR APPROACH.

THE FIRST THING IS THAT OUR APPROACH IS TO NOT BUY CURRICULUM FROM ANYONE ELSE.

SO WE DEVELOP OUR OWN CURRICULUM AND OUR APPROACH IS TO PRIORITIZE THE REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL FOCUSES BY THE STATE.

SO THAT'S THE POSITIVE CHARACTER EDUCATION AND THEN THE MENTAL HEALTH PROMOTION AND INTERVENTION.

AND THEN WE WRITE OTHER CURRICULUM AS WELL.

BUT WE'RE FOCUSED ON STANDARDS JUST LIKE, OUR TEACHING AND LEARNING.

SO THESE ARE THE STANDARDS OF THE MINDSETS THAT WE FOCUS ON SO PARENTS CAN GO IN AND THEY CAN CLICK ON THIS AND BASICALLY THESE ARE OUR TEKS, SO THESE ARE THE STANDARDS WE'RE GOING TO LOOK AT AS WE'RE DEVELOPING LESSONS.

SO WHEN YOU GO BACK IN HERE, YOU HAVE A LITTLE MORE INFORMATION ON SEL, AND BASICALLY OUR APPROACH IS THAT WE'RE WORKING ON A COMMON LANGUAGE.

WE'RE WORKING ON DEVELOPING PERSONAL SKILLS IN A SOCIAL SETTING.

SO THAT CREATES OPPORTUNITIES FOR EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN A SOCIAL SETTING, AND THAT'S OUR APPROACH TO SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING.

AND THEN IF YOU SCROLL DOWN AND WE'VE LOADED ALL OF OUR LESSONS IN HERE.

SO FAR, WE HAVE AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER LOADED AND THIS IS IN THE PORTAL RIGHT NOW.

SO YOU CAN GO IN AND YOU CAN CLICK ON THE ACTUAL LESSONS THAT WE'RE GOING TO BE TEACHING THAT MONTH ALL THE WAY THROUGH, WE'VE GOT PRE-K ALL THE WAY THROUGH MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL.

SO AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER, YOU CAN CLICK ON ANY OF THOSE AND SEE THE LESSONS THAT THE CAMPUSES ARE GETTING AND THAT THEY'RE GOING TO BE USING WITH OUR STUDENTS.

OK, SO JUST KIND OF A SUMMARY, WE TEACH THE STANDARDS FOR COURSES IN FRISCO ISD.

WE WANT TO PARTNER WITH OUR COMMUNITY, OUR STUDENTS AND OUR PARENTS TO ENSURE WE'RE MEETING THE NEED OF OUR COMMUNITY.

WE ENCOURAGE OPEN DIALOG WITH OUR PHENOMENAL EDUCATORS WHO ARE STRIVING VERY HARD TO MEET THE NEEDS OF EACH AND EVERY ONE OF OUR STUDENTS.

AND WE'RE CONFIDENT IN THE WORK THAT THEY DO EACH AND EVERY DAY AND COULD NOT BE MORE PROUDER TO WORK WITH THIS GROUP PROFESSIONALS.

MAKE SURE I SHARE THAT WITH YOU.

TAKE ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH.

I DO HAVE ONE QUESTION.

IS THERE A HOW TO GUIDE FOR FAMILIES AS TO HOW THEY CAN STEP BY STEP ACCESS ALL OF THIS GREAT CONTENT THAT YOU ALL HAVE PUT INTO THIS PARENT PORTAL? IS THERE IS THERE A GUIDE SOMEWHERE THAT WE CAN DIRECT FAMILIES TO? I JUST THINK THAT WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL.

I KNOW THAT SOMETIMES THE GUARDIAN PORTAL IS KIND OF TOUGH TO NAVIGATE.

SO I THINK IT MIGHT BE KIND OF USEFUL BECAUSE THIS IS ALL SUCH GREAT CONTENT, I WANT EVERYONE TO BE ABLE TO HAVE THE EASE OF ACCESS.

I'M GOING TO ECHO WHAT DR. CUNNINGHAM JUST SAID, SOUNDS LIKE THAT'S A REALLY GOOD IDEA.

AND THAT'S SOMETHING WE CAN PUT IN A NEWSLETTER.

THEY COULD GO OUT.

IT WOULD BE LIKE, HERE'S HOW YOU CAN ACCESS THESE THINGS.

THANK YOU ALL.

BOARD, ANY QUESTIONS? COMMENTS? OK.

CAN I SAY? I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU, I KNOW THAT YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN WORKING DILIGENTLY TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

AND I ALSO WANT TO SAY THANK YOU, BECAUSE I HAD ASKED SOME QUESTIONS EARLIER IN THE WEEK THAT Y'ALL WERE VERY I MEAN, YOU PRESENTED THIS VERY WELL, SO I APPRECIATE IT.

AND I THINK THE PARENTS APPRECIATE IT.

SO THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK.

THANK YOU ALL.

MICHAEL, NATALIE, YOU DID A PHENOMENAL JOB WITH THIS PRESENTATION.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS AVAILABLE.

AS A PARENT, I AM EXCITED ABOUT IT.

I CAN FOLLOW TO MAKE SURE HOMEWORK IS DONE.

OK, WE WILL MOVE ON TO ITEM 9C, DISCUSSION REGARDING FEDERAL GRANT APPLICATIONS.

[9.C. Discussion regarding federal grant applications]

MRS. SMITH ? THANK YOU.

I'M GOING TO MAKE THIS REALLY QUICK.

WE HAVE ADOPTED A NEW POLICY THAT REQUIRES US TO AFFORD A REASONABLE OPPORTUNITY FOR THE PUBLIC TO COMMENT ON ANY FEDERAL GRANT APPLICATION THAT WE SUBMIT TO TEA.

FOR THIS MONTH ONLY, I AM PRESENTING THOSE HERE SO THAT WE CAN SO THAT THE PUBLIC CAN HAVE ACCESS TO THOSE.

AND IF THERE ARE ANY COMMENTS, THE PUBLIC CAN EMAIL FINANCE@FRISCO ISD.ORG.

GOING FORWARD, ANY FEDERAL GRANT APPLICATIONS THAT WE CHOOSE TO APPLY FOR WILL BE POSTED AT HOMEBASE FOR THE BOARD TO SEE AND THEY WILL BE POSTED ON OUR FINANCE WEBSITE.

THERE'S A GRANTS AND COMPLIANCE WEB PAGE ON THE WEBSITE.

AND SO WE'LL PUT THOSE UP WHEN THEY'RE READY AND WHEN WE'RE READY TO APPLY FOR

[01:40:01]

THEM.

AND THEN IF ANY OF OUR MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY HAVE COMMENTS ON THOSE, THEY CAN EMAIL FINANCE@FRISCOISD.ORG.

WE THINK THAT WILL BE AN EASIER WAY TO DO IT SO THAT WE DON'T HAVE TO WAIT FOR A BOARD MEETING EVERY TIME IN ORDER TO SUBMIT THOSE APPLICATIONS.

SO I HAVE ATTACHED ALL OF THE APPLICATIONS THAT WE ARE GETTING READY TO SUBMIT TO TEA IN THE NEXT MONTH TO THE BOARD BOOK.

THIS IS JUST A QUICK RUNDOWN OF WHAT THOSE ARE.

MOST OF THEM ARE GRANTS THAT WE APPLY FOR EVERY YEAR.

SO YOU'LL SEE UNDER OUR ESSA CONSOLIDATED FEDERAL GRANT APPLICATION, WE HAVE ALL OF THE ENTITLEMENT GRANTS, TITLE ONE, TWO, THREE AND FOUR.

AND YOU CAN SEE HERE ON THE SLIDE, THESE ARE ALL FOR THIS FISCAL YEAR, 2021-2022 AND THE DIFFERENT AMOUNTS AND WHAT THE PURPOSES OF THOSE PROGRAMS ARE.

THE ATTACHMENTS HAVE A LITTLE BIT MORE DETAIL ABOUT WHAT THE BUDGET WOULD LOOK LIKE AND THAT KIND OF THING.

WE ALSO HAVE OTHER GRANTS THAT WE APPLY FOR ANNUALLY, THE SPECIAL EDUCATION CONSOLIDATED GRANT, THAT'S IDEA-B PRESCHOOL AND FORMULA GRANTS, AND THEN OUR PERKINS' GRANT, WHICH IS OUR CTE GRANT.

AND THEN FINALLY, WE HAVE TWO CORONAVIRUS RELIEF GRANTS, SORRY, THREE CORONAVIRUS RELIEF GRANTS.

WE HAVE THE ESSER II GRANT AND WE DID ESSER III BACK IN JUNE.

WE'RE DOING ESSER II NOW.

SO THEY CAME A LITTLE BIT OUT OF ORDER.

JUST A QUICK NOTE ON THAT ONE.

ESSER II LIKE ESSER I, WAY BACK WHEN, IS BEING USED BY THE STATE TO SUPPLANT OUR FOUNDATION SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR THE 2021 FISCAL YEAR.

SO THAT'S NOT ACTUALLY EXTRA GRANT MONEY FOR US, BUT WE DO HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE APPLICATION SUBMISSION AND ALL OF THAT.

THE ESSER SUPPLEMENTAL GRANT IS THE ONE THAT WE TALKED TO YOU ABOUT WITH THE TEMPORARY ONLINE SCHOOL.

AND THEN WE ALSO ARE APPLYING FOR SOME EMERGENCY CONNECTIVITY FUNDS TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL DEVICES TO OUR STUDENTS, WHO ARE LEARNING VIRTUALLY, IF THEY NEED IT.

SO AS A REMINDER, COMMENTS ON THESE GRANTS AND ON FUTURE GRANT APPLICATIONS CAN BE EMAILED TO THAT F I NANCE@FRISCOISD.ORG EMAIL ADDRESS.

THANK YOU.

BOARD, ANY QUESTIONS? OK, THANK YOU SO MUCH, WE APPRECIATE IT.

MOVE ON TO 9D, DISCUSSION REGARDING SUMMER PROJECTS UPDATE.

[9.D. Discussion regarding Summer Projects Update]

DR. FOUCHE? JUST ON PAGE 497 OF YOUR BOARD BOOK IS WHERE THE SPREADSHEET LIVES.

IT'S A THREE PAGE SPREADSHEET.

AND REALLY, I JUST WANT TO UPDATE YOU GUYS AND AND ANYBODY WATCHING AND I'M ON SOME OF OUR BOND FUND EXPENDITURES FROM THIS SUMMER IS A VERY BUSY SUMMER.

AND IT WAS SUPER INTERESTING FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF NOT GETTING MATERIALS IN ON TIME, NOT GETTING FURNITURE IN ON TIME.

I THINK BETWEEN THE FREEZE AND THE COVID AND ALL THE THINGS, IT JUST, IT PUSHED BACK LOTS OF THINGS.

BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS WE ARE WRAPPING UP AND WE'RE READY FOR KIDDOS TO COME IN OUR BUILDINGS THIS THURSDAY.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WERE ON THE CITIZENS BOND COMMITTEE THAT WE HAD WITH THE 2018 BOND PROGRAM, WE ACTUALLY HAD A MEETING AT SMITH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, WHICH IS ONE OF OUR OLDER CAMPUSES NOT FAR FROM HERE.

THAT 25 YEAR UPDATE WAS JUST COMPLETED.

SO FOR THOSE OF YOU ON THAT COMMITTEE, WE'RE GOING TO DO ANOTHER MEETING AT SMITH HERE IN THE NEXT, THIS FALL, EARLY THIS FALL WITH THE CITIZENS BOND COMMITTEE SO THAT YOU CAN SEE ALL THE AWESOME THINGS THAT HAPPEN TO THAT BUILDING AS A RESULT OF THAT BOND PROGRAM.

LOTS OF PAINT AND CARPET THIS SUMMER.

EVERYBODY'S REAL EXCITED ABOUT GETTING PAINT AND CARPET UNTIL THEY REALIZE HOW INVASIVE PAINT AND CARPET IS.

WHEN YOU CARPET A BUILDING, YOU'VE GOT TO MOVE EVERYTHING OUT OF THE BUILDING TO GET THE CARPET ON THE FLOOR.

AND WHEN YOU PAINT A BUILDING, YOU'VE GOT TO GET EVERYTHING OFF THE WALLS.

SO THAT'S A LOT OF FUN AND THAT'S ALL BEING WRAPPED UP.

BUT THERE'S THREE PAGES OF THIS STUFF ON HERE, SO YOU CAN PERUSE THAT AND ASK ANY QUESTIONS WHENEVER YOU WANT.

THANKS.

THANK YOU.

THE BOARD IS REALLY SUPER FORTUNATE BEFORE THIS MEETING TO BE ABLE TO DO A FINAL WALKTHROUGH OF EMERSON HIGH SCHOOL, AND IT IS A BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS.

WE ARE SO THRILLED TO WELCOME OUR MAVERICKS INTO THIS DISTRICT.

SO WE'RE EXCITED FOR FOR SCHOOL TO GET KICKED OFF ON THURSDAY, ESPECIALLY FOR A NEW CAMPUS , THERE'S A LOT OF EXCITEMENT IN THE AIR WALKING THROUGH THAT BUILDING.

SO WE WILL MOVE ON TO ITEM 9E, DISCUSSION REGARDING AP IGNITE CANDIDATES MR.

[9.E. Discussion regarding AP Ignite Candidates]

MCCLENNAN.

ALL RIGHT.

THANK YOU.

YOU'LL HEAR ME BRAG ON OUR LEADERSHIP AND OUR LEADERS IN THE DISTRICT ALL THE TIME.

AND ONE GROUP I WANT TO TALK ABOUT TONIGHT ARE OUR ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS ALWAYS SAY THAT THE DAILY GRIND, THE DAILY JOB OF ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL IS ONE OF THE HARDEST IN THE DISTRICT BY FAR.

HATS OFF TO THEM EVERY SINGLE DAY.

AND LAST YEAR WE CREATED, OUR DIRECTORS IN THE DISTRICT, CREATED A GROUP CALLED AP IGNITE.

AND THIS IS A, IT'S A GROUP THAT'S HARD TO GET INTO.

[01:45:02]

WE HAVE APPLICATIONS EVERY SINGLE YEAR FOR OUR ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS GET INTO IT.

AND IT'S A MENTORSHIP PROGRAM AND THEY DO A LOT OF WORK THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO REALLY HELP THEMSELVES, BETTER THEMSELVES AS LEADERS AND ALSO TO TAKE THAT NEXT STEP, WHATEVER THAT MAY BE.

SO WE HAVE A NEW GROUP THIS YEAR.

I WILL SAY BEFORE I GET IN THE NEW GROUP, A LOT OF THE MEMBERS OVER THE LAST YEAR ARE NOW CURRENT PRINCIPALS WITHIN THE DISTRICT.

SO CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF THEM.

BUT I JUST WANT TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO THOSE THAT ARE IN THE AP IGNITE PROGRAM AND WE'LL GIVE YOU MORE INFORMATION ON THIS PROGRAM THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

SO KELLY MORRIS FROM MCSPEDDEN, CAROL DAVIS FROM CHRISTIE, AND SARA CLAUNCH FROM NEWMAN.

THOSE ARE ELEMENTARY CANDIDATES OR PARTICIPANTS THIS YEAR.

AND SECONDARY PARTICIPANTS ARE CAITLIN ELDRIDGE FROM CLARK, LINDSEY BROTHERSON FROM VAN DEVENTER, FERN BENFOLD OTTO FROM LIBERTY, MELISSA SWALLOW FROM FOWLER, DAN KANSLER FROM WESTER, ALLISON GWEN LEBANON TRAIL HIGH SCHOOL.

ALBERT LEOU, MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL, RENE SAANA FROM INDEPENDENCE.

JENNIFER KING FROM WESTER, STACEY WAYLAND FROM LIBERTY AND MICHELE ZüRICH FROM HERITAGE.

WE WANT TO WATCH THEM AS THEY GROW THIS YEAR.

AND ALSO I WANT TO THANK OUR DIRECTORS WHO'LL BE WORKING WITH THOSE ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS AS THEY CONTINUE IN THEIR LEADERSHIP.

SO CONGRATS TO THEM.

THAT'S AWESOME.

CONGRATULATIONS.

THAT'S, IT'S SUCH A GREAT PROGRAM, AND BUILDING LEADERSHIP FROM WITHIN OUR DISTRICT IS SO IMPORTANT.

SO THANK YOU FOR SPEARHEADING THAT AND TAKING SUCH GOOD CARE OF OUR AP CANDIDATES.

NEXT UP, WE WILL GO TO9F, PURCHASING DEPARTMENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

[9.F. Purchasing Department accomplishments]

MRS. SMITH, THANK YOU.

I JUST WANT TO TAKE A MINUTE TO GIVE SOME KUDOS TO OUR PURCHASING DEPARTMENT.

THEY WORKED A GOOD CHUNK OF LAST YEAR TO CREATE CONTENT AND UPDATE OUR WEBSITE TO EARN THE COMPTROLLER'S TRANSPARENCY STAR FOR CONTRACTS AND PROCUREMENT.

THE TRANSPARENCY STARS PROGRAM RECOGNIZES LOCAL GOVERNMENTS ACROSS TEXAS THAT ARE STRIVING TO MEET A HIGH STANDARD FOR FINANCIAL TRANSPARENCY ONLINE.

PROVIDING CITIZENS WITH CLEAR, CONSISTENT INFORMATION ABOUT PUBLIC SPENDING AND USER FRIENDLY FORMATS.

THE COMPTROLLER'S OFFICE LAUNCHED THE TRANSPARENCY STAR PROGRAM IN MARCH OF 2016 TO RECOGNIZE CITIES, COUNTIES, SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND SPECIAL PURPOSE DISTRICTS MAKING IMPORTANT STRIDES TOWARDS GREATER GOVERNMENT TRANSPARENCY.

LOCAL ENTITIES CAN GO ONLINE AND APPLY FOR UP TO FIVE TRANSPARENCY STARS.

FRISCO ISD IS ELIGIBLE FOR THREE OF THE FIVE STARS, AND AS OF JUNE, WE HAVE OFFICIALLY FINALLY EARNED ALL THREE.

SO THANK YOU TO OUR PURCHASING DEPARTMENT FOR GETTING THAT ONE COMPLETED FOR US.

AND THEN ONE OTHER EXCITING ACCOMPLISHMENT FROM PURCHASING THIS SUMMER IS OUR ROLL OUT OF AMAZON BUSINESS SERVICES.

SO OUR DEPARTMENT WORKS SUPER HARD TO BE ABLE TO QUALIFY AMAZON AS A VENDOR THIS SUMMER AND PROVIDE OUR CAMPUSES AND DEPARTMENTS WITH ACCESS TO WHAT IS ESSENTIALLY AN AMAZON PRIME MEMBERSHIP FOR THEM TO BUY THEIR SUPPLIES AND THINGS THAT THEY NEED FOR THEIR CAMPUSES.

SO WE'VE BEEN HOPING WE'VE HAD STAFF ASKING FOR AMAZON FOR A LONG TIME, AND SO WE'RE REALLY EXCITED TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE THAT THIS SCHOOL YEAR.

THANK YOU.

BOARD, ANY QUESTIONS? I JUST WANT TO THANK THE OFFICERS FOR BEING WITH US TONIGHT.

GUYS, APPRECIATE YOU BEING HERE.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

WITH THAT, IF THERE ARE NO QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS, HAVE A GREAT START OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.

KICKING IT OFF ON THURSDAY, CAN'T WAIT.

LOTS OF EXCITEMENT IN THIS DISTRICT RIGHT NOW.

AND SO WE'RE EXCITED TO GET IT KICKED OFF AND WISH OUR STUDENTS, TEACHERS, STAFF, FAMILIES AN AWESOME SCHOOL YEAR.

WITH THAT, BOARD, I WILL LOOK FOR A MOTION ON ADJOURNMENT.

SECOND.

ALL RIGHT.

MOTION OF MY MS. HEBERT, SECOND BY MR. CLASSE.

WE ARE ADJOURNED.

THANK YOU ALL FOR COMING AND JOINING US.
