WE'RE GOING TO CELEBRATE SOME KIDDOS FOR THE NEXT FEW MINUTES.

THIS IS GOING TO BE MORE OF AN INFORMAL SETTING, WHERE WE'RE GOING TO HAVE STUDENTS COME UP.

WE'RE GOING TO CLAP, APPLAUSE, TAKE PICTURES, HAVE A FUN TIME JUST FOR A FEW MINUTES.

THE WAY THIS IS GOING TO WORK, HERE IN JUST A SECOND, WE'RE GOING TO HAVE THE FIRST GROUP OF STUDENTS COME IT'S GOING TO BE CENTENNIAL TENNIS, THEN THEY'RE GOING TO EXIT WITH THEIR PARENTS AFTER THEY'RE DONE.

NATIONAL MERIT PARENTS, WE WANT YOU TO STAY TIGHT.

WE'RE GOING TO HONOR ALL 12 SCHOOLS, NATIONAL MERIT FINALISTS.

ONCE THE 12 SCHOOLS ARE DONE, WE'RE GOING TO HAVE THEM GO OUT ONE AT A TIME INTO THE ATRIUM.

AFTER THE 12TH SCHOOL, IF YOU WOULD PLEASE, AT THAT TIME, I'LL REMIND YOU, THEN YOU GO OUT TO THE ATRIUM AND YOU'LL HAVE PICTURES AND EVERYTHING DONE OUT THERE AS WELL.

WHILE WE'RE IN HERE, WHEN YOUR STUDENTS COME UP, UP ON THE SCREEN, IT'S GOING TO BE THEIR NAMES. YOU STAND UP.

IN FACT, BOTH OF THEM WERE RECOGNIZED AS THE TEXAS TENNIS COACHES ASSOCIATION REGIONAL COACHES OF THE YEARS. GREAT JOB, GUYS.

THIS GROUP OF ATHLETES THAT IS BEFORE YOU, THEY'RE ON A DISTRICT MATCH WIN STREAK OF 31 MATCHES IN A ROW.

THAT'S PRETTY COOL. GREAT JOB.

WHAT WE'RE HERE TO CELEBRATE, AND I'M GOING TO USE COACH AGUILAR. COME HERE.

I'M GOING TO USE YOU AS AN EXAMPLE.

WE'RE HERE TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL MERIT SEMIFINALIST IN FRISCO.

WE ARE HERE TO RECOGNIZE 146 STUDENTS THAT ARE NATIONAL MERIT SEMIFINALISTS [APPLAUSE] IN THE NAME OF A THREE PIT, THIS IS THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR THAT FRISCO ISD HAS THE MOST NATIONAL MERIT SEMIFINALISTS IN THE STATE OF TEXAS [APPLAUSE] ALL THAT SAID, STUDENTS EARN THIS BY TAKING THE PSAT/NMSQT IN THEIR JUNIOR YEAR.

THIS GROUP OF STUDENTS ARE A PART OF A VERY EXCLUSIVE GROUP THAT REPRESENTS LESS THAN 1% OF HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS IN THE UNITED STATES.

BEYOND HERE, THEY'LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO FULFILL A FEW OTHER STEPS TO POSSIBLY BE FINALISTS AND STUFF.

THEY WERE ALL GIVEN A FANTASTIC NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLAR YARD SIGN THAT I'M SURE IS UP IN ALL OF THEIR YARDS RIGHT NOW.

AS YOU'RE DRIVING AROUND, YOU SHOULD SEE 146 OF THOSE COUNT THEM.

BUT IN THE NAME OF THAT, WE'RE JUST GOING TO CALL UP THE CAMPUSES ONE AT A TIME AND LET THEM STAND UP HERE WITH THE BOARD.

AS DR. WALDRIP PREPARES TO RETIRE, WE PAUSE TO HONOR NEARLY A DECADE OF SERVICE THAT HAS SHAPED THIS DISTRICT IN PROFOUND AND LASTING WAYS. I'M NOT GOING TO CRY.

HIS LEADERSHIP HAS BEEN ROOTED IN COMPASSION, HUMILITY, AND AN UNWAVERING BELIEF IN THE POTENTIAL OF EVERY STUDENT WHO WALKED THROUGH OUR DOORS.

THROUGHOUT HIS TENURE, DR. WALDRIP GUIDED FRISCO THROUGH RAPID GROWTH, LEGISLATIVE CHALLENGES, AND EVEN A GLOBAL PANDEMIC.

HE MADE IT CLEAR TIME AND TIME AGAIN THAT EVERY SINGLE STUDENT MATTERS.

NOT JUST THE HIGH ACHIEVERS, NOT JUST THE ONES WHO ARE EASIEST TO SERVE, BUT ALL STUDENTS.

HE CHAMPIONED PROGRAMS THAT EXPANDED ACCESS, SUPPORTED STRUGGLING LEARNERS, ELEVATED THE ARTS, AND STRENGTHENED PATHWAYS FOR STUDENTS OF EVERY BACKGROUND, ABILITY, AND INTEREST.

HIS COMPASSION EXTENDED FAR BEYOND POLICY.

IT SHOWED UP IN THE WAY THAT HE SPOKE ABOUT OUR KIDS, THE WAY HE CELEBRATED THEIR SUCCESSES, AND THE WAY THAT HE REMINDED US OFTEN WHY WE DO THIS WORK.

HE CARRIED THE WEIGHT OF THIS DISTRICT WITH GRACE, ALWAYS CENTERING STUDENTS AND ALWAYS TREATING OUR STAFF AND COMMUNITY WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT.

I HAD THE HONOR OF SERVING ON THIS BOARD FOR SIX OF HIS NINE YEARS AS SUPERINTENDENT.

DURING THAT TIME, I WITNESSED FIRSTHAND HIS INTEGRITY, HIS THOUGHTFULNESS, AND HIS DEEP COMMITMENT TO COLLABORATION.

HE APPROACHED EVEN THE HARDEST CONVERSATIONS WITH OPENNESS AND EMPATHY.

HE LISTENED AND HE TRULY LISTENED, PARENTS, TEACHERS, AND STUDENTS.

HE FOSTERED A CULTURE WHERE EVERY SINGLE VOICE FELT VALUED AND EVERY CHILD HAD A PLACE IN THIS HOME THAT WE CALL FRISCO ISD.

UNDER HIS LEADERSHIP, OUR DISTRICT GREW STRONGER, NOT JUST IN NUMBERS, BUT IN PROGRAMS, BUT IN COMPASSION, AND INCLUSIVITY.

HIS BELIEF THAT FRISCO ISD SHOULD BE A PLACE WHERE ALL STUDENTS ARE SEEN, SUPPORTED, AND INSPIRED IS NOW WOVEN INTO THE FABRIC OF WHO WE ARE.

DR. WALDRIP'S LEGACY IS VISIBLE AND EXPANDED OPPORTUNITIES IN STRENGTH AND SYSTEMS, AND IN THE COUNTLESS LIVES TOUCHED BY HIS LEADERSHIP.

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, IT LIVES IN THE STUDENTS WHO FELT UNDERSTOOD, ENCOURAGED, AND WELCOMED BECAUSE OF THE ENVIRONMENT THAT HE HELPED CREATE.

DURING THAT TIME, I HAD THE PRIVILEGE TO WORK ALONGSIDE DR. MIKE WALDRIP.

FIRST, WHEN HE WAS A DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT, AND THEN LATER WHEN HE BECAME SUPERINTENDENT FOR FRISCO ISD IN 2017.

DR. WALDRIP IS EXTREMELY SMART, WHICH IS COMPLEMENTED BY HIS WICKED SENSE OF HUMOR.

HE HAS CONSISTENTLY PRIORITIZED WHAT IS BEST FOR STUDENTS AND STAFF, ALL WHILE NAVIGATING THE CONSTANT CHALLENGING CURVEBALLS THROWN AT FISD AND PUBLIC EDUCATION OVER THE YEARS.

HE HAS DEVOTED HIS LIFE TO MAKING A POSITIVE AND POWERFUL IMPACT OR DIFFERENCE FOR PUBLIC EDUCATION AND THE FRISCO ISD COMMUNITY, STARTING IN THE CLASSROOM AND WORKING HIS WAY UP TO SUPERINTENDENT.

FOR OVER 44 YEARS, DR. WALDRIP HAS BROUGHT EXPERIENCE, PASSION, DETERMINATION, AND A TRUE LOVE FOR PUBLIC EDUCATION.

HE HAS ALSO BROUGHT INNOVATION AND VISION, SUCH AS THE DYNAMIC ORGANIZATIONAL STRATEGY AND FISD FLEX, JUST TO NAME A FEW.

THE FRISCO ISD COMMUNITY IS VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE MIKE WALDRIP AS ITS SUPERINTENDENT.

WE ARE ALL BLESSED THAT FRISCO ISD CONTINUES TO BE A DESTINATION DISTRICT FOR FAMILIES DUE TO HIS COURAGE, LEADERSHIP, AND VISION.

SINCE 2020, I HAVE HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF SERVING ALONGSIDE DR. MIKE WALDRIP, A SUPERINTENDENT WHOSE LEADERSHIP HAS TRULY DEFINED WHAT IT MEANS TO SERVE WITH HEART, HUMILITY, AND EXCELLENCE.

OVER THE YEARS, I HAVE WITNESSED FIRSTHAND HIS UNWAVERING COMMITMENT TO ENSURING THAT EVERY STUDENT IN FRISCO ISD HAS ACCESS TO A WORLD-CLASS EDUCATION AND ONE THAT CHALLENGES THEIR MINDS, NURTURES THEIR POTENTIAL, AND PREPARES THEM FOR SUCCESS BEYOND OUR CLASSROOMS. DR. WALDRIP HAS LED WITH BOTH VISION AND STEADINESS, NAVIGATING SOME OF THE MOST COMPLEX SEASONS IN PUBLIC EDUCATION AND FOR OUR DISTRICT, FROM GUIDING OUR DISTRICT THROUGH HISTORIC GROWTH AND RAPID EXPANSION TO PROVIDING A CALM, COMPASSIONATE LEADERSHIP DURING VERY UNPRECEDENTED TIMES.

HIS ABILITY TO FOCUS ON WHAT MATTERS MOST, OUR STUDENTS, OUR STAFF, AND FAMILIES, TRULY SET HIM APART.

UNDER HIS LEADERSHIP, FRISCO ISD HAS CONTINUED TO THRIVE, MAINTAINING ITS REPUTATION FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE, INNOVATION, AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT.

HE HAS CHAMPIONED INITIATIVES THAT EXPANDED STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES, SUPPORTED EDUCATORS IN MEANINGFUL WAYS, AND UPHELD OUR DISTRICT'S COMMITMENT TO FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY AND OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE, ALL WHILE KEEPING A GENUINE CONNECTION WITH THE PEOPLE HE SERVES.

ON A PERSONAL LEVEL, SERVING ALONGSIDE DR. WALDRIP HAS BEEN AN INVALUABLE EXPERIENCE.

I HAVE LEARNED THOUGHTFUL DECISION-MAKING THROUGH HIS DEDICATION TO COLLABORATION, HIS ABILITY TO BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER AROUND A SHARED VISION, AND I LEARNED THAT A MAN OVER SIX FEET COULD MAKE BREAD.

[LAUGHTER] HIS LEADERSHIP HAS LEFT AN UNDENIABLE MARK ON FRISCO ISD AND ON THOSE OF US THAT ARE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO SERVE WITH HIM.

AS WE BEGIN THE PROCESS OF IDENTIFYING FRISCO ISD'S NEXT SUPERINTENDENT, OUR COMMUNITY WILL PLAY A VITAL ROLE IN HELPING SHAPE THE FUTURE OF OUR DISTRICT.

BUT I DID WANT TO JUST ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE COMMUNITY PARADE WAS BACK.

THE VETERANS DAY COMMUNITY PARADE WAS BACK, AND THERE WERE FIVE TRUSTEES ALONG WITH DR. FAUCH AND THE TEACHER OF THE YEAR, ONE OF THE TEACHERS OF THE YEAR THAT MARCHED IN THE PARADE.

IT WAS AT KALEIDOSCOPE PARK THIS YEAR.

BECAUSE OF THE CONSTRUCTION STILL DOWNTOWN, BUT IT WAS REALLY WELL ATTENDED, AND OUR STUDENTS DID AN AMAZING JOB.

IF YOU HAD A CHANCE TO CATCH THAT, GREAT, AND IF NOT, THERE'S A LOT OF PICTURES ON THE CITY WEBSITE.

THEY GOT SOME GREAT PHOTOS OF THE BOARD, TOO. THAT WAS A LOT OF FUN.

THE OTHER THING THAT I WANTED TO MENTION IS LAST MONTH, I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK ON A PANEL ABOUT THE LEGISLATIVE SESSION REGARDING THE RELIGIOUS LAWS THAT WERE PASSED.

IT WAS SPONSORED BY AN ORGANIZATION CALLED THE DFW CENTER FOR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM AND HUMAN DIGNITY.

THEY WANTED A TRUSTEE TO SPEAK ABOUT A CURRENT SITTING TRUSTEE IN TEXAS, TO SPEAK ABOUT THE LAWS THAT THE LEGISLATOR HAD PASSED.

WE MOSTLY TALKED ABOUT TEN COMMANDMENTS, AND WE MOSTLY ALSO TALKED ABOUT A RULE THAT DISTRICTS CAN ALLOW STUDENTS TO ACTUALLY LEAVE CAMPUS TO GO ATTEND RELIGIOUS EDUCATION, AND THEN THEY ACTUALLY MISS INSTRUCTION AT THE CAMPUSES, AND IT'S EXCUSED, THEN THEY COME BACK.

WHICH OPERATIONALLY, I DON'T KNOW HOW YOU WOULD DO THAT.

BUT I WAS ON THE PANEL WITH TWO STATE REPRESENTATIVES, ONE REPUBLICAN, ONE DEMOCRAT, AND THEN ANOTHER PERSON WHO SPONSORS THIS OFF-CAMPUS RELIGIOUS EDUCATION.

IT WAS A VERY INTERESTING EXPERIENCE.

IT WAS ACTUALLY QUITE A FEW PEOPLE FROM FRISCO THERE.

I WAS A LITTLE SURPRISED BECAUSE IT WAS HOSTED AT SMU CAMPUS.

I DIDN'T EXPECT TO RUN INTO ANYONE ACTUALLY FROM FRISCO, BUT THERE WERE SOME THERE, AND IT WAS A VERY INTERESTING PANEL.

THE TWO LEGISLATORS GOT INTO AN ARGUMENT.

I JUST SAT THERE AND WATCHED. BUT THE ATTENDEES WERE ACTUALLY VERY INTERESTED TO HEAR HOW DISTRICTS WOULD OPERATIONALIZE SOME OF THESE CHANGES THAT THE STATE PASSED.

IT WAS NICE TO BE ABLE TO REPRESENT TRUSTEES AND A PANEL LIKE THAT. JUST WANTED TO SHARE.

STUDENTS FROM EIGHT SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN DALLAS AREA PRESENTED THEIR INNOVATIVE BUSINESS CONCEPTS, SHARING RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT, AND TEAMWORK.

REPRESENTING FROM THE FRISCO ISD STUDENT TEAMS FROM CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL, EMERSON HIGH SCHOOL, FRISCO HIGH, AND LONE STAR HIGH SCHOOL, SHOWCASE THEIR VENTURES ALONGSIDE OTHER TOP PROGRAMS IN NORTH TEXAS.

EACH TEAM PITCHED THEIR BUSINESS IDEAS BEFORE AN AUDIENCE OF FELLOW STUDENT ENTREPRENEURS, DEMONSTRATING THEIR CREATIVITY, RESEARCH, AND TEAMWORK.

AFTER ALL PRESENTATIONS, STUDENTS VOTED TO DETERMINE THE TOP THREE TEAMS IN THE SHOWCASE.

THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE EVENT CAME FROM EMERSON HIGH SCHOOL, WHERE THE NATURES NOTE TEAM AND FIRST PLACE OVERALL FOR THEIR INNOVATION APPROACH AND OUTSTANDING PRESENTATION.

ALSO CAPTURED ATTENTION WITH THEIR PROFESSIONALISM AND ENGAGING PRESENCE.

THE TEAM DEMONSTRATED EXCEPTIONAL CONFIDENCE AND COMMAND WHILE PRESENTING TO THE AUDIENCE, EARNING RECOGNITION FOR THEIR STRONG COMMUNICATION AND PRESENTATION SKILLS.

IT WAS WONDERFUL TO SEE ALL THE FISD TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS AND ALSO SUPPORTIVE PARENTS, IN ATTENDANCE, CELEBRATING THE HARD WORK AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE STUDENT ENTREPRENEURS.

EVENTS LIKE THIS SHOWCASE THE STRENGTH OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND EDUCATION ACROSS THE DALLAS AREA AND THE IMPACT OF PROGRAMS SUCH AS INCUBATOR EDU AND ACCELERATE EDU, WHICH ARE PART OF THE UNCHARTERED LEARNING CURRICULUM.

THESE EXPERIENCES EMPOWER STUDENTS TO DEVELOP REAL-WORLD PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS, COLLABORATE WITH MENTORS, AND BRING CREATIVE IDEAS TO THE LIFE.

THIS DALLAS AREA SHOWCASE SMU NOT ONLY CELEBRATED STUDENT INNOVATION, BUT ALSO REINFORCE THE IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE SCHOOLS, UNIVERSITIES, AND LOCAL BUSINESS LEADERS IN NURTURING THE NEXT GENERATION OF ENTREPRENEURS.

THAT WAS A VERY EXCITING PROCESS BECAUSE I'VE NEVER SEEN THAT.

ALSO AT THAT VISIT, THEIR STUDENT COUNSEL SAT WITH ME AND TALKED TO ME AND INTERVIEWED ME, AND THAT WAS AN AMAZING PROCESS BECAUSE THOSE KIDS ARE SO INSIGHTFUL AND THEIR COUNSELOR SAID THEY CAME UP WITH THEIR QUESTIONS ON THEIR OWN AND THERE WERE SOME REALLY GOOD QUESTIONS.

ALSO, WE VISITED PIONEER MIDDLE SCHOOL.

I'M A LITTLE EMBARRASSED AND TAKE A SINGLE PICTURE THERE AND IF YOU DON'T POST AND TAKE A PICTURE, THEN IT DIDN'T REALLY HAPPEN, BUT I PROMISE IT DID.

IT WAS REALLY COOL BECAUSE IT WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD SEEN INSIDE OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL SPECIAL EDUCATION CLASSROOM.

IT WAS REALLY NEAT TO SEE HOW OUR EDUCATORS START OUR SPECIAL FRIENDS SO EARLY ON LEARNING THEIR LIFE SKILLS TO HAVE THE FUTURE READY.

IT WAS JUST REALLY NEAT TO SEE ALL OF THE OPPORTUNITY IN THE CLASSROOM FOR THEM TO LEARN AND GO THROUGH THOSE PROCESSES.

MANY OF US ATTENDED THE STATE OF EDUCATION.

I THOUGHT THAT WAS REALLY GREAT.

I THINK I WOULD LOVE THE CR CITY TO DO SOME MORE OF THAT.

IT WAS ALSO NEAT BECAUSE THEY HAD U AND T, UTD, AND COLLIN COLLEGE LEADS ON THE SAME PANEL.

IT'S JUST REALLY GREAT TO SEE HOW FRISCO OFFERS THIS WHOLE ENTIRE PROCESS FROM K THROUGH 12 TO THESE OTHER OPTIONS AFTER GRADE SCHOOL AND THE PARTNERSHIPS WITH THAT.

I ATTENDED WAKELAND HIGH SCHOOL, WHERE THE LIBRARIAN THERE WORKS WITH HER EDUCATOR TO CREATE THIS INTERACTIVE PROCESS FOR THEIR TEXAS HISTORY CURRICULUM, AND THAT WAS AMAZING AND ALSO, THEIR LIBRARIAN IS THE TEACHER OF THE YEAR.

THAT WAS FUN TO EXPERIENCE.

WE DELIVERED FRISCO EDUCATION FOUNDATION GRANTS TO TEACHERS NOT LONG AGO WITH MS. SAMPLE, AND I THINK MS. DAVIS WAS THERE.

OVER $92,000 IN GRANTS GIVEN TO OUR EDUCATORS GO FEF. I SEE YOU MS. SIGN.

THEN WE HAD LIBERTY REDHAWKS, THEIR VOL THEIR GIRL VOLLEYBALL THEIR GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM, JUST COMPETED IN THE SEMI STATE FINALS ON SATURDAY.

UNFORTUNATELY, WE DIDN'T BRING HOME THE WIN, BUT I WAS AT SOME OF THE MATCHES THE MATCH BEFORE THAT FOR THE REGIONAL FINALS WAS AMAZING.

THESE GIRLS I SEE YOU OVER THERE, TERRY SHAKING YOUR HEAD.

THESE GIRLS CAN REALLY PLAY.

IT AMAZES ME HOW MANY TIMES OUR STUDENTS, SOMETIMES YOU GO TO THEIR EVENTS LIKE THE CENTENNIAL TENNIS TEAM HERE.

YOU FEEL LIKE YOU'RE SITTING IN A PROFESSIONAL EVENT, WHICH IS NICE.

THEN WAN'YE PANTHER CREEK MARCHING BAND.

I DIDN'T GET TO GO TO SAN ANTONIO, BUT WHAT I DID DO WAS BUY THE UL PACKAGE, WHICH LET ME WATCH IT FROM THE COMFORTS OF MY HOME.

THEY COMPETED AT STATE FOR 5A IN SAN ANTONIO.

I'M MISSING ONE LONESTAR, LEBANON TRAILS, WAN. I THOUGHT WE HAD FOUR.

WE HAD THREE THAT WENT TO STATE.

ANYWAY, IT WAS A FUN EVENTFUL MONTH.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE EVENTS OF THE YEAR SUPPORTING FEF AND JUST SEEING THE INSTRUCTORS AND THE STUDENTS RECEIVE THEIR AWARDS BECAUSE IT IS A SURPRISE.

TO SEE THOSE TEACHERS REACTIONS IS PRECIOUS IT'S DEFINITELY PRECIOUS.

WE'VE SEEN SOME JUMP UP AND DOWN.

WE'VE SEEN SOME CRY ACTUALLY, AND WE'VE SEEN JUST THE STUDENTS GET SO EXCITED BECAUSE THEY THINK THEY WANT SOME MONEY, BUT THEY DIDN'T [LAUGHTER] MY OTHER ADVENTURES WILL WORK, I GUESS, THE TEACHING AND LEARNING SUBCOMMITTEE.

I WANT TO GIVE A BIG THANK YOU TO DR. JONES, DR. CUNNINGHAM, DR. FIORI, DR. FAUST, AND DR. HART FOR PUTTING ON THE PROGRAM TOUR FOR US FROM FISCAL ISD AG BOND AND TO THE CENTENNIAL CTE PROGRAMS INCUBATOREDU.

WE SHERI SALAS, TRUSTEE SAMPLE AND TRUSTEE MANDEVA, BOTH WENT ON THAT TOUR WITH US.

WE STARTED AT THE AG BOND AND AT THE AG BOND.

WE GOT TO SEE SOME STUDENTS WITH THEIR ANIMALS, TAKING CARE OF THE ANIMALS.

WE GOT TO ASK THEM HOW DO THEY GET JUDGED.

THAT'S WHEN I LEARNED THEY ACTUALLY GET COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS FROM TAKING CARE OF THEIR ANIMALS AND PUTTING THEM IN COMPETITIONS ENOUGH TO ACTUALLY COVER THEM FOR OVER MORE THAN TWO YEARS WORTH OF COLLEGE EDUCATION.

THAT IS JUST AWESOME TO SEE AND I LOVE THE INTERACTIVE ENVIRONMENT, AND THEY LEARN A LOT FROM TAKING CARE OF OTHER ANIMALS.

WHAT ELSE WE THEN WE LEFT THERE, WE WENT TO CENTENNIAL.

THEY WERE SO EXCITED.

THEY LOVE WORKING WITH METAL VERSUS WOOD.

THEY UNDERSTAND THE COST OF MATERIALS AND THEY REALLY ENJOY THEIR TEACHER.

I THINK THAT WAS ONE OF THE QUESTIONS THEY ASKED IS, CAN WE STAY WITH HIM FOR OTHER PROGRAMS, CTE PROGRAMS THAT ARE ACTUALLY AT THE SCHOOL, AND THEY WANTED TO STAY WITH HIM BECAUSE HE HAS DONE SUCH A GREAT JOB.

I ALSO ATTENDED A REZONING COMMITTEE MEETING WITH TRUSTEE MADDOX TO JUST TO LEARN ABOUT A LOT OF THE FACTORS THAT ARE INVOLVED IN MAKING THE DECISIONS THAT THE STAFF AND IS TEAM MAKE FOR REZONING.

IF THEY HAD ANY ALTERNATIVE APPROACHES, WHAT ARE THEIR PLANS FOR THE UPCOMING YEARS AND IN THE FUTURE, I WAS JUST REALLY INFORMATIVE, GREAT WAY TO GATHER SOME MORE INFORMATION. THANK YOU.

WHEN YOU HAVE A DISTRICT OF OUR SIZE WITH ALL THE ISSUES RANGING FROM CURRICULUM TO HUMAN RESOURCES TO ATHLETICS TO FINANCE, THERE ARE A LOT OF ISSUES THERE AND THEY ARE NOT EASY, AND YOU HAVE TO HAVE GOOD PEOPLE IN THE RIGHT SPOTS.

I'VE ALWAYS BEEN IMPRESSED WITH THAT.

I BELIEVE THAT'S A REAL TRAIT THAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE THAT DOESN'T GET DISCUSSED ENOUGH.

IT'S A GOOD SIGN OF LEADERSHIP AND IT'S GOING TO BE SOMETHING THIS DISTRICT HAS BENEFITED FROM, AND SO WE WILL HAVE MANY CHANCES TO TALK ABOUT THAT IN THE FUTURE, BUT THAT IS A HALLMARK OF A GOOD LEADER, AND WE HAVE THAT HERE IN FRISCO ISD.

>> I'M GOING TO START OUT AND SET IT UP A LITTLE BIT, AND THEN DR. CUNNINGHAM IS GOING TO GET INTO THE MECHANICS OF IT A LITTLE BIT.

BUT AS YOU ALL KNOW, MAY OF 2027, THE WEEK OF MAY 17, SOMETHING AWESOME IS HAPPENING, ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE A GOLF FAN IN FRISCO, THE PGA CHAMPIONSHIP IS GOING TO COME HERE THAT WEEK.

FOR US, IT DOES CAUSE SOME A LOT OF OPERATIONAL THOUGHTS THIS COMING IN.

FROM TYPICALLY THAT WEEK, AND I'M LOOKING AT MY COUNTERS WHILE I KEEP LOOKING DOWN, THAT WEEK OF THE 17TH WOULD BE OUR LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL WITH THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL, TYPICALLY BEING THAT FRIDAY THE 21ST.

DURING THAT TIME, THAT'LL BE THE SECOND DAY OF THE GOLF TOURNAMENT.

THERE WILL BE 60,000 UNIQUE INDIVIDUALS HERE EACH DAY.

THERE'S BASICALLY GOING TO BE A TEMPORARY CITY BUILT FOR 100,000 PEOPLE IN THE NORTHWEST QUADRANT OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT.

AS WE'RE LOOKING AT THIS WITH SO MANY OF OUR SCHOOLS BEING IN CLOSE VICINITY TO IT, AND YOU ALL KNOW WE STARTED TALKING ABOUT THIS A YEAR AGO, THEN STARTED TALKING ABOUT IT MORE LAST SPRING.

MS. DAVIS AND I GOT TO GO AND SEE WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE IN PERSON, ALONG WITH QUITE A BIT OF MS. DAVIS DID NOT ENJOY IT.

REALLY, YOU'RE TALKING HOTEL ROOMS, IT'S NOT JUST THE EIGHT OR NINE SCHOOLS THAT ARE REALLY CLOSE TO THAT.

I BELIEVE THIS IS GOING TO AFFECT OUR ENTIRE COMMUNITY.

IN THE FIRST CALENDAR COMMITTEE MEETING, ONE OF THE OFFICERS AND I CAME AND TALKED ABOUT OUR EXPERIENCE THERE TO GIVE THE CALENDAR COMMITTEE A FEEL FOR WHAT IT WAS LIKE.

BY MEETING 2, WE HAD SPLIT UP INTO OUR TWO TEAMS, WHICH, BY THE WAY, TEAM KIM WAS MUCH BETTER.

OBVIOUSLY, OUR BIGGEST CONSTRAINT WAS, OF COURSE, THE PGA, WHICH CAUSED A LOT OF SHIFT IN THE CALENDAR.

WE HAD TO ADJUST OUR MINUTES, OUR DAYS, OUR TIMINGS, BUT WE WERE STILL ABLE TO KEEP OUR BREAKS THE SAME ALIGNED WITH ALLEN, PROSPER, PLANO, OF COURSE, GRADUATION OF COURSE, WAS PUSHED TOWARDS THE END OF THE YEAR, OR IT WAS ADJUSTED.

SOME UNIQUE CONSIDERATIONS WAS THAT WE HAD THREE LESS CONTRACT DAYS FOR TEACHERS, AND THIS YEAR, WE HAVE NO MORE BANK DAYS.

IF WE WERE GOING TO HAVE A BAD WEATHER MAKEUP DAY, WE WOULD HAVE TO USE IT.

WE WERE ABLE TO HIT ALL OF OUR GOALS WITH THE MINUTES AND THINGS LIKE THAT.

WHAT WAS REALLY INTERESTING IS THE VERY FIRST MEETING WEST SAID, YOU'RE OURS FOR THE NEXT SIX WEDNESDAYS, AND WE WERE ALL RETHINKING THAT DECISION TO BE ON THAT COMMITTEE.

BUT WHEN WE FINALLY MET TOGETHER THE TWO DIFFERENT COMMITTEES, WE WERE VERY CLOSE.

THEY WERE VERY SIMILAR.

IT WAS JUST A TWEAKING OF JUST A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT DAYS, WHICH ALL THE FEEDBACK, AS YOU CAN SEE, IT WAS INTERESTING BECAUSE AS A SECONDARY TEACHER TO HEAR AN ELEMENTARY TEACHER SAY, HEY, THIS AFFECTS SPECIALS, WHEN YOU MOVE A PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY HERE, WHEN YOU HAVE THIS DAY OFF, AND THE PARENTS WHO WOULD SAY, THIS IS WHEN WE DO COLLEGE VISITS, THAT EVERYBODY ON THE COMMITTEE WAS VERY ARTICULATE AND VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT THIS, BECAUSE IT AFFECTS EVERYBODY IN THE COMMUNITY AT SOME TIME OR THE OTHER.

MOST TEACHERS WERE LOOKING AT IT FROM A SANITY PERSPECTIVE, OURS, NOT CHILDREN'S, AND HAVING THOSE BREAKS THROUGHOUT EVERY MONTH, BECAUSE EVEN A PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY FEELS LIKE A BREAK WHEN YOU GET TO GO FOR A GROWN UP LUNCH AND NOT EIGHT IN 20 MINUTES.

MAKING SURE THAT WE HAD ALL THOSE SET SO THAT PARENTS COULD PLAN ACCORDINGLY, BUT YET WE PLAN FOR AP TESTING TOWARD THE END OF THE YEAR AND KNEW THAT WHEN WE DID THE BACKWARDS PLANNING ON GETTING OUT ON THE 14TH, NO ONE WANTS TO START IN JULY.

NOT ONE PERSON ON THAT COMMITTEE THOUGHT THAT WAS A GOOD IDEA.

THEN HOW DO WE FIT THIS ALL IN? THE 5 MINUTES DIDN'T FEEL LIKE ANY BIG DEAL AT ALL AT

THAT POINT COMPARED TO STARTING IN JULY, ADD THE MINUTES, WE'LL TAKE IT.

BUT BOTH THE SEMESTERS ARE BALANCED.

TELLING STAFF, I WAS TRYING TO EXPLAIN THIS CALENDAR TO SOMEONE TODAY AND I SAID, ACTUALLY, WE HAVE LESS DAYS THAT WE'RE WORKING, BUT WITH NO PAY DEDUCTION, BUT WE'LL REVERT BACK TO THE SAME NUMBER OF DAYS.

THEY JUST GAVE US THE FEEDBACK WHEN THEY'RE LIKE, WELL, YOU MIGHT WANT TO THINK ABOUT THIS, BUT THEY STAYED OUT OF IT, WHICH WAS PRETTY IMPRESSIVE.

IF THEY DO QUALIFY AND ARE SERVED AS AN EMERGENT BILINGUAL STUDENT OR AN EB STUDENT, THEY THEN RECEIVE CONTENT BASED LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION FROM THEIR CLASSROOM TEACHERS.

THAT IS A REQUIREMENT THAT TA SETS BEFORE US.

EACH SPRING, THEY TAKE NOT ONLY THE STATE REQUIRED STAR AND EOC TESTS, BUT AN ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE TEST, THAT'S CALLED TELPAS, TO SHOW THEIR GROWTH.

THEN HOPEFULLY AT THE END OF THE YEAR, IF THEY MEET THOSE REQUIREMENTS, FOR BOTH OF THOSE ASSESSMENTS, THEY CAN RECLASSIFY OR EXIT FROM THE PROGRAM BECAUSE THEY ARE NOW ENGLISH PROFICIENT.

AT THE END OF THE YEAR, THE GOAL IS THAT THEY'RE GOING TO RECLASSIFY AND MOVE ON INTO THE GENERAL EDUCATION PROGRAM WITHOUT OUR SUPPORT AND JUST OUR MONITORING OF THOSE STUDENTS, WE TESTED 18,052 STUDENTS THAT ARE NEW TO TEXAS THIS YEAR.

ABOUT 800 OF THOSE ARE OUR PRE K STUDENTS.

PRE K IS DEFINITELY ADDING TO OUR EB STORY IN THIS DISTRICT.

THESE ARE THE TOP 10 LANGUAGES THAT WE SERVE CURRENTLY.

WE HAVE 77 LANGUAGES THAT WE SERVE IN FRISCO ISD AS OF RIGHT NOW.

THIS IS THE FIRST YEAR THAT ACTUALLY TELUGU SURPASSED SPANISH.

OUR LANGUAGES ARE GROWING AND JUST CONTINUE TO CHANGE AND EVOLVE.

YOU CAN SEE HERE THAT THE MAJORITY OF THE STUDENTS IN OUR PROGRAM MET AT THAT ADVANCED LEVEL ON TELPAS LAST YEAR.

IF YOU'RE DOING THE MATH IN YOUR HEAD, OUR CURRENT PRE KINDERGARTEN AND KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS HAVEN'T TAKEN TELPAS YET, SO THEY'RE NOT REFERENCED HERE ON THIS GRAPH, JUST OUR OLDER STUDENTS ARE.

THE WAY THAT WE SERVE ALL OF THESE AMAZING STUDENTS ARE WITH SOME VERY AMAZING STAFF MEMBERS.

THE PLACEMENT OF ALL OF THESE STAFF MEMBERS IS BASED ON THE NEEDS AND THE NUMBERS AT EACH CAMPUS.

THE WORK AND THE DAILY WORK OF THOSE FOLKS IS TO SUPPORT WHO YOU SEE THERE IN THOSE BOTTOM YELLOW BOXES, WHICH ARE OUR GENERAL EDUCATION CLASSROOM TEACHERS.

BECAUSE AT THE END OF THE DAY, THEY'RE THE ONES WHO KNOW OUR STUDENTS BEST.

THEY'RE THE ONES THAT TEACH THESE CHILDREN DAY IN AND DAY OUT, SO THEY ARE THE ONES WHO IMPLEMENT THAT CONTENT BASED LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION, AS WELL AS ANY LINGUISTIC SCAFFOLDS THAT THE STUDENTS MIGHT NEED.

OUR GOAL AT THE END OF THE DAY IS THAT STUDENTS ARE LEARNING CONTENT KNOWLEDGE AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE KNOWLEDGE AT THE SAME TIME.

WE DON'T WANT TO DO ONE OR THE OTHER.

WE DON'T HAVE TIME TO WAIT FOR THAT.

WE'RE DOING BOTH OF THOSE AND GROWING THOSE AT THE SAME TIME.

AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE GREEN ROCK HERE, THAT SUPPORTING OF TEACHING AND LEARNING IS JUST ONE OF OUR FOUR MAIN FOCUSES.

COACHING AND STAKEHOLDER RELATIONSHIPS ARE THE WAY WE SUPPORT THOSE CLASSROOM TEACHERS AND ALL OF THE OTHER PEOPLE THAT SERVE OUR STUDENTS.

THEN AN EXTRA SPECIAL PIECE THAT WE GET TO BE IN CHARGE OF IS THAT COMPLIANCE SIDE.

THAT IS THOSE INITIAL IDENTIFICATION TESTS TO DETERMINE IF STUDENTS NEED OUR PROGRAM OR NOT.

THE ACCOMMODATIONS THAT HELP THEM ACHIEVE LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY IN THE CLASSROOM, AND THEN ADMINISTERING THAT STATE TEST TELPAS IN FEBRUARY AND MARCH.

WE ARE SO THANKFUL TO DR. NICE TEAM BECAUSE OF HIM, WE ARE ABLE TO HAVE THIS BEAUTIFUL DOCUMENT THAT YOU SEE A PICTURE OF HERE, WHICH WE CALL OUR PROGRESS MONITORING FORM.

WHAT HIS TEAM DID WAS BUILD A BEAUTIFUL DATA CODED BACKGROUND THAT AUTOMATICALLY UPLOADS EVERY STUDENT SCORES INTO ONE SPREADSHEET.

THEY SET THE TONE AT THEIR BUILDING FOR WHAT EXPECTATIONS ARE IN SUPPORTING STUDENTS WHO DON'T SPEAK ENGLISH QUITE YET.

HE IS ACTUALLY PRESENTING AT A NATIONAL CONFERENCE IN LOUISVILLE THIS WEEK.

WE MS. JON BEING HERE, BUT WE ARE PLEASED TO HAVE OUR COORDINATOR OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT, CHOWEY BLARNEY, TO GIVE YOU AN UPDATE.

TONIGHT, I'M HERE TO DISCUSS THE RESULTS OF THE INTRUDER DETECTION AUDITS THAT ARE CONDUCTED BY THE TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY EVERY YEAR, PARTICULARLY THIS SCHOOL YEAR OF 2025/26.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON'T REMEMBER, I'LL REFRESH REAL QUICK, THAT THESE AUDITS BEGAN IN AUGUST OF 2022, FOLLOWING A DIRECTIVE BY GOVERNOR ABBOTT.

THEY HAVE A SPECIFIC PURPOSE OF ASSESSING THE ABILITY FOR AN INTRUDER TO GAIN ENTRY TO OUR SCHOOLS THROUGH AN EXTERIOR ENTRY POINT.

AS OF TODAY ON NOVEMBER 17TH, THE TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY HAS CONDUCTED INTRUDER DEDUCTION AUDITS AT 27 FISD CAMPUSES.

THAT REPRESENTS 35% OF OUR DISTRICT CAMPUSES TO DATE.

NOW, WHILE COMMUNITY MEMBERS ARE LIKELY INTERESTED IN THE DETAILS OF THESE AUDIT RESULTS, THE STATE HAS INFORMED OUR DISTRICT, IT'S IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE STUDENTS THAT WE DO NOT SHARE THIS INFORMATION TO THE BROADER PUBLIC AS IT COULD LEAD TO COMPROMISING IMPORTANT CAMPUS SECURITY INFORMATION.

ALSO, AS REQUIRED BY THE STATE SPECIFIC DETAILS OF THE INTRUDER DETECTION AUDITS WERE DISCUSSED IN THE BOARD EXECUTIVE SESSION EARLIER THIS EVENING.

RESULTS WERE ALSO DISCUSSED IN AN EXECUTIVE SESSION OF THE DISTRICT SAFETY AND SECURITY COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON NOVEMBER 16TH, AS REQUIRED BY LAW.

THE CONTINUED SUPPORT OF THE TEA TO CONTINUE THESE AUDITS TO HELP US KEEP OUR STUDENTS SAFE IS IMPORTANT, BUT THE CONTINUED SUPPORT OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND THE IST IS WHAT'S GOING TO HELP US CONTINUE TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE FUTURE.

OUR AUDIT WAS CONDUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH GENERALLY ACCEPTED GOVERNMENT AUDITING STANDARDS AND THE UNIFORM GUIDANCE, WHICH IS WHAT WE CONDUCT THE FEDERAL FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AUDIT OF THE MAJOR PROGRAMS THAT THE DISTRICT USING.

WE ALSO TESTED THE DISTRICT'S COMPLIANCE WITH VARIOUS PROVISIONS OF LAWS, REGULATIONS, CONTRACTS, AND GRANT AGREEMENTS, INCLUDING THE PUBLIC FUNDS INVESTMENT ACT AND VARIOUS TEA REQUIREMENTS.

>> WE USE A RISK BASED APPROACH, WHICH MEANS THAT WE TAILOR OUR RESOURCES MORE HEAVILY IN AREAS OF HIGHER RISK OF MATERIAL MISSTATEMENT.

SO THEY'RE NOT ANYTHING THAT THERE'S AN ISSUE HERE AT FRISCO.

WHAT WE DO IS WE HAVE TO COMMUNICATE THOSE TO YOU.

IMPROPER REVENUE RECOGNITION IS A RISK THAT MEANS THAT REVENUES COULD BE IMPROPERLY INFLATED OR THEY COULD BE RECOGNIZED IN THE WRONG PERIOD.

MANAGEMENT OVERRIDE OF CONTROLS MEANS THAT SOMEBODY COULD CIRCUMVENT CONTROLS TO RECORD THINGS THAT ARE UNAUTHORIZED.

WHAT WE DO AS PART OF OUR PROCEDURES IS WE LOOK AT THE CONTROLS, WE GO THROUGH THE PROCESSES IN THESE AREAS, IDENTIFY CONTROLS, AND THEN WE ACTUALLY WALK THROUGH TRANSACTIONS TO MAKE SURE THAT THE CONTROLS THAT WE HAVE REVIEWED ARE IN PLACE AND OPERATING AS DESIGNED.

WE ALSO PERFORMED SIGNIFICANT TRANSACTION TESTING.

SO WE USE SUBSTANTIVE TESTING, FOR INSTANCE, WITH FEDERAL AND STATE GRANT REVENUES AND STATE FOUNDATION SCHOOL PROGRAM REVENUE.

WE ACTUALLY DO DETAILED TESTING, TESTING THOSE AMOUNTS TO THE PAYMENT REPORTS PROVIDED BY THE TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY, AS WELL AS THEIR SUMMARY OF FINANCE REPORTS.

SO AT THE END OF THE DAY, THERE WERE NO MATERIAL MISSTATEMENTS, THERE WERE NO MATERIAL WEAKNESSES IN INTERNAL CONTROLS.

IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING BAD WHEN YOU HEAR SIGNIFICANT RISK, BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY, THERE WAS NO ISSUES HERE AT FRISCO ISD.

PART OF OUR TESTING, WE LOOK AT OTHER SIGNIFICANT AUDIT AREAS SUCH AS CASH INVESTMENTS, RECEIVABLES, CAPITAL ASSETS, VARIOUS LIABILITIES.

WE TESTED ALL OF THOSE AREAS.

AS I MENTIONED, WE WALK THROUGH INTERNAL CONTROLS OVER VARIOUS SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING CONTROL AREAS, SUCH AS PAYROLL, CASH DISBURSEMENTS, REVENUES, FINANCIAL CLOSE.

AND THEN AGAIN, WE MAKE SURE THAT THE CONTROLS ARE IN PLACE AND OPERATING IS DESIGNED, AND I'M HAPPY TO REPORT THAT THERE WERE NO MATERIAL WEAKNESSES OR SIGNIFICANT DEFICIENCIES IN INTERNAL CONTROL.

WE TESTED INTERNAL CONTROLS OVER BOTH FINANCIAL REPORTING AND COMPLIANCE, AS WELL AS FEDERAL COMPLIANCE, AND WE TESTED COMPLIANCE WITH THE MAJOR FEDERAL PROGRAMS OF THE DISTRICT AS WELL.

WE TESTED CAPITAL PROJECTS, BOTH THE EXPENDITURES THEMSELVES, AS WELL AS PROCUREMENT AND BIDDING REQUIREMENTS.

WE USED VARIOUS TYPES OF TESTING TECHNIQUES SUCH AS VOUCHING, MATERIAL TRANSACTIONS, SAMPLING, AND ANALYTICAL PROCEDURES AS PART OF OUR TESTING.

THE NEXT FEW SLIDES, GO THROUGH THE AUDIT RESULTS, WHICH I'M SURE YOU'D LIKE TO HEAR.

THE TWO SLIDES RIGHT NOW, THE FIRST OF WHICH IS A SUMMARY OF THE FINANCIAL STATEMENT AUDIT.

WE'VE ISSUED AN UNMODIFIED OPINION ON THE DISTRICT'S FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR FISCAL 25, THAT MEANS THAT WE FEEL THAT THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS ARE PROPERLY PRESENTED IN ALL MATERIAL RESPECTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH GAAP.

AS I MENTIONED, NO MATERIAL WEAKNESSES OR SIGNIFICANT DEFICIENCIES OR AREAS OF NON COMPLIANCE.

THE SECOND SLIDE SHOWS THE AUDIT RESULTS FOR THE FEDERAL AWARDS, AND I WANT TO MENTION HERE THAT THE MAJOR PROGRAMS THAT WE HAD TO TEST THIS YEAR WERE THE SPECIAL EDUCATION CLUSTER AND TITLE II PART A.

WE'VE DONE ALL OF OUR TESTING.

WE'VE DONE OUR REVIEW PROCESS.

WE'VE GONE THROUGH OUR REVIEW PROCESS.

HOWEVER, WE CANNOT ISSUE OUR FINAL REPORT, THE UNIFORM GUIDANCE REPORT ON THE FEDERAL FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS UNTIL SUCH TIME THAT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT RELEASES THE FINAL VERSION OF THE OMB COMPLIANCE SUPPLEMENT.

SO I THINK WE ALL UNDERSTAND THAT WITH THE FEDERAL SHUTDOWN THAT THEY'RE BEHIND THE EIGHT BALL.

BUT AGAIN, WE'VE DONE ALL OF THE TESTING, EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD.

WE'VE DONE ALL ALL OF OUR QUALITY CONTROL REVIEWS.

AND AS SOON AS THE OMB TAKES THE DRAFT STAMP OFF OF THE OMB COMPLIANCE SUPPLEMENT, THEN WE'LL BE IN A POSITION TO ISSUE OUR FINAL REPORT.

AGAIN, WE HAD NO DIFFICULTIES IN COMPLETING OUR AUDIT, RECEIVING NOTHING BUT FULL COOPERATION.

THE LAST FEW SLIDES I HAVE ARE FINANCIAL HIGHLIGHTS THAT DERIVED FROM THIS YEAR'S ANNUAL COMPREHENSIVE FINANCIAL REPORT.

THE FIRST TWO SLIDES, LOOKING AT THE DISTRICT'S GOVERNMENTAL FUNDS REVENUES, WHICH TOTALED $1.025 BILLION.

THAT WAS A $41.9 MILLION INCREASE OVER THE PREVIOUS YEAR.

MUCH OF THAT INCREASE WAS THE RESULT OF A $51 MILLION INCREASE IN LOCAL AND INTERMEDIATE SOURCES, WHICH IS PRIMARILY THE RESULT OF INCREASED PROPERTY TAX REVENUE.

YOU CAN SEE THAT ON THIS SLIDE WHICH BREAKS OUT THE DISTRICT'S REVENUES INTO THREE BUCKETS WHERE THE LOCAL AND INTERMEDIATE SOURCES INCREASED BY $51.1 MILLION OVER FISCAL 24.

THE NEXT TWO SLIDES LOOK AT THE EXPENDITURES OF THE DISTRICT, WHICH TOTALED $1.08 BILLION.

THAT WAS A $38.8 MILLION INCREASE OVER THE PREVIOUS YEAR.

MUCH OF THAT WAS THE RESULT OF AN INCREASE IN DEBT SERVICE EXPENDITURES, AND CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG, BUT MOST OF THAT RELATED TO THE CASH DEFEASANCE IN WHICH THE DISTRICT INTENTIONALLY PAID DOWN SOME ADDITIONAL DEBT TO ACHIEVE FURTHER SAVINGS DOWN THE ROAD.

THE FUND BALANCES FOR THE DISTRICT TOTALED ALMOST $589 MILLION AS OF JUNE 30TH.

THE MAJORITY OF THAT IS IN THE GENERAL FUND, THE MAIN OPERATING FUND OF THE DISTRICT.

OVERALL, GOVERNMENTAL FUND BALANCE DECREASED BY $50 MILLION THIS YEAR, THAT WAS PRIMARILY DUE TO THE $47.6 MILLION DECREASE IN THE CAPITAL PROJECTS FUND, WHICH IS JUST A TIMING ISSUE BECAUSE THE DISTRICT WAS SPENDING BOND PROCEEDS ON BONDS THAT WERE ISSUED LAST YEAR DURING THIS YEAR.

AND WITH THAT, I'D BE HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS, BUT AGAIN, VERY GOOD AUDIT, AND THANKS TO KIM AND HE STAFF.

THERE ARE REVISIONS TO ALL THREE OF THE COMPLAINTS TO ALIGN WITH SB 12.

HOWEVER, THE MOST SIGNIFICANT REVISIONS ARE REQUIRED IN THE PARENT AND STUDENT POLICY, AND I DO JUST WANT TO FOR THE PUBLIC GIVE SOME EXPLANATION ABOUT WHAT THOSE CHANGES ARE.

IT IS A VERY SIGNIFICANT OVERHAUL TO THE GRIEVANCE PROCESS IN GENERAL.

LARGELY, THE BIGGEST CHANGE IS THAT PARENTS NOW HAVE A MUCH LONGER TIMELINE TO EXPRESS THEIR CONCERNS AND COMPLAINTS TO THE DISTRICT.

ALSO, PARENTS CAN AMEND THEIR COMPLAINT AT ANY POINT IN TIME DURING THE GRIEVANCE PROCESS.

WHEREAS PREVIOUSLY, A COMPLAINANT WOULD START WITH THEIR COMPLAINT THAT THEY INITIALLY FILE, AND THEY COULD NOT ADD ANY CLAIMS OR ADDITIONAL COMPLAINTS THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS OR REQUESTS FOR REMEDY.

NOW, THEY ARE ALLOWED TO AMEND THEIR COMPLAINT THROUGHOUT THE COMPLAINT PROCESS AND ASK FOR ADDITIONAL REMEDIES THROUGHOUT.

ALONG WITH THAT, THAT MEANS THAT, SOMETIMES, NEW INFORMATION WILL COME OUT DURING THE GRIEVANCE PROCESS, AND THE DISTRICT WILL HAVE TO REMAND A GRIEVANCE BACK TO A PREVIOUS LEVEL FOR FACT FINDING.

THAT'S ALSO BEEN ADDED TO THE GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES AND POLICIES.

OVERALL, THE BIGGEST CHANGE ARE TO MAKE THIS.

THE INTENT IS TO MAKE IT MORE USER FRIENDLY FOR PARENTS, AND TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE HOPEFULLY ENGAGING IN INFORMAL PRACTICES TO HELPFULLY RESOLVE THEIR COMPLAINTS BEFORE GETTING TO THE FORMAL GRIEVANCE PROCESS.

THIS EXTENDS THE AMOUNT OF TIME THAT THEY CAN WORK THROUGH THOSE INFORMAL CHANNELS BEFORE BEING REQUIRED TO FILE A COMPLAINT FORMALLY WITH THE DISTRICT.

HOPEFULLY, WE CAN RESOLVE MORE THINGS THROUGH DIRECT COMMUNICATION WITHOUT REQUIRING US TO GO THROUGH THAT FORMAL GRIEVANCE PROCESS.

BUT IT DOES GIVE PARENTS THAT ROOM TO ENGAGE IN THE FORMAL COMPLAINT PROCESS, IF THEY AREN'T ABLE TO WORK OUT THEIR PROBLEMS MORE INFORMALLY.
