IN THE SPRING, WE MET INTERDEPARTMENTALLY EVERY WEEK TO DIVE INTO THIS WORK.

THEN THERE WAS A PAUSE.

WE WANTED TO GET SOME MORE DEMOGRAPHIC NUMBERS, GOT INTO THE SUMMER, BUT REALLY THE CONVERSATION DIDN'T STOP BECAUSE WE KNEW THAT THIS DECISION WAS STILL PENDING.

WE CONTINUED THAT WORK AND REALLY, THE CONVERSATION CONTINUED, AND WE CONTINUED TO PLAN AROUND THAT.

ALL DISTRICT DEPARTMENTS HAVE MET WEEKLY THIS PAST SUMMER TO DEVELOP PLANS SHOULD THE DECISION TO BE MADE FOR STALEY TO BE RETIRED IN 26-27.

WE WANTED TO GO THROUGH A VERY SYSTEMATIC PROCESS IN DETERMINING WHAT NEEDED TO BE ADDRESSED IN THE CLOSING OR THE RETIREMENT.

WE STARTED OFF WITH, WE GOT THE MODEL FROM OUR RESIDENT EXPERT, JOHN BODIE, WHO HAS WALKED US THROUGH A LOT OF DIFFERENT, VERY DIFFICULT THINGS, AND WE FOLLOWED A MODEL THAT HE PUT INTO PLACE WHERE YOU FIRST DEVELOPED PRIORITIES.

WHAT ARE YOUR PRIORITIES? WHAT ARE THE OVERARCHING THINGS THAT YOU'RE TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH? THEN FROM THOSE PRIORITIES, YOU WOULD GO TO WRITING OUT OBJECTIVES.

THERE IS A RECOGNITION THAT IF THERE WERE THE DECISION FOR THE CAMPUS TO BE RETIRED, THAT WE WOULD NEED TO HONOR THOSE WHO CONTRIBUTED TO THAT.

FROM A STAFFING STANDPOINT, IT REALLY CAN'T FOLLOW.

HOWEVER, SOME OF THE THINGS WE THOUGHT ABOUT, WHEN YOU LOOK AT IDS FUNDS AND YOU LOOK AT PROJECTS, I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT FOR OUR COMMUNITY TO REMEMBER, GRIFFIN MIDDLE SCHOOL OPENED IN 2004, HUNT 2010 AND TRENT 2015.

FROM A TRADITIONAL SENSE OF WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO THE FACILITY, THE CAMPUS, THEY'RE FAIRLY NEW AND VERY SIMILAR MINUS WILKINSON TO OUR OTHER MIDDLE SCHOOLS.

BUT SOME OF THE THINGS WE TALKED ABOUT THAT THAT MONEY COULD SUPPORT.

WHEN WE TALK ABOUT ATHLETICS AND FINE ARTS, IS THERE EQUIPMENT THAT WE WILL NEED TO MAKE SURE IF WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH TO SUPPORT THE TRANSITION OF THOSE STUDENTS.

ANOTHER THING WE LOOKED AT, GRIFFIN MIDDLE SCHOOL JUST RECEIVED A FURNITURE REFRESH THIS SUMMER, ONE OF THREE MIDDLE SCHOOLS.

COULD WE GO IN AND MAKE SURE THAT HUNT AND TRENT GET A FURNITURE REFRESH SO THAT IT DOESN'T MATTER WHICH STUDENT FROM STALEY,
