GOOD EVENING. IT IS 6:31 P.M.

[Community Input Meeting]

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR JOINING US FOR COMMUNITY INPUT TONIGHT.

I DID IT. I KEEP CALLING IT COMMUNITY IMPACT NIGHT, BUT THAT'S A PAPER.

THANK YOU ALL FOR JOINING US.

BEFORE WE BEGIN, I'M GOING TO ASK MISS GILLESPIE TO PLEASE READ OUR STATEMENT OF DISCLOSURE FOR ALL OF OUR COMMENTS THIS EVENING AND THEN WE'LL MOVE ON.

GOOD EVENING, EVERYONE.

THE BOARD WELCOMES COMMENTS REGARDING ANY ITEM RELATED TO DISTRICT BUSINESS OR GOVERNANCE FROM CITIZENS WHO HAVE COMPLETED PUBLIC COMMENT OR SIGNED UP THIS EVENING, WHICH ARE ACCEPTED UNTIL THE BEGINNING OF THE MEETING AND ARE NOT TRANSFERABLE TO OTHER SPEAKERS.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE INFORMATION SHARED IN PUBLIC COMMENT IS NOT AN ENDORSEMENT OF THE INFORMATION SHARED BY THE PRESENTER AND SOLELY PROVIDES THE OPINION OF THE INDIVIDUAL SPEAKER, NOT THE DISTRICT.

COMMENTS SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES ONLY, NOT TO OTHER ATTENDEES, AND ONLY MADE ONCE YOU HAVE BEEN CALLED UPON TO SPEAK.

TO ENSURE THAT ALL SPEAKERS ARE TREATED EQUALLY AND HAVE THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME, THE PODIUM MICROPHONE WILL BE TURNED OFF AT THE CONCLUSION OF EVERY OF THE TIME FOR EVERY SPEAKER. EACH SPEAKER SHALL HAVE THREE MINUTES TO ADDRESS THE BOARD REGARDING ITEMS RELATED TO DISTRICT BUSINESS AND GOVERNANCE.

SPEAKERS WILL BE CALLED IN THE ORDER IN WHICH EACH INDIVIDUAL SIGNED UP TO SPEAK.

IF YOU HAVE SPECIFIC CONCERN RELATED TO AN EMPLOYEE OF THE DISTRICT OR SPECIFIC STUDENT ISSUE, YOU SHOULD UTILIZE THE DISTRICT'S GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES PROVIDED IN BOARD POLICIES. DGB LOCAL FMG, LOCAL AND GF LOCAL.

EACH GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE ALLOWS FOR AN INDIVIDUAL TO REDRESS GRIEVANCES WITH THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

ADDITIONALLY, IF THERE ARE FIVE OR MORE INDIVIDUALS THAT WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK ON THE SAME TOPIC, YOU MAY CHOOSE TO APPOINT AN INDIVIDUAL TO SPEAK ON THE BEHALF OF THE GROUP.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

OUR FIRST SPEAKER IS TANNER DAVIS, FOLLOWED BY MICHELLE NICHOL AND THEN SARITA DODSON.

I'M SORRY. I'M GOING TO ASK YOU TO STOP.

NOT BECAUSE WE DON'T LOVE KINDERGARTEN, BUT BECAUSE WE CAN'T HEAR YOU.

SO I'M NOT SURE IF LET ME JUST MAKE SURE THAT THE MIC IS WORKING BECAUSE WE ARE RECORDING.

A LITTLE HORN BUTTON.

THERE IT GOES. OKAY.

MICHELE, WOULD YOU MIND RESETTING HER TIME, PLEASE? THANK YOU. MY NAME IS TANNER KLEIN, AND THIS IS MY FOURTH YEAR AS A KINDERGARTEN TEACHER.

FOR YEARS, LEADERSHIP HAS GIVEN US A PIECE CALLED MAN IN THE ARENA BY TEDDY ROOSEVELT.

IT'S ALWAYS BEEN AN EASY PIECE TO CONNECT TO, BUT THIS YEAR I'VE THOUGHT ABOUT HOW IT RELATES TO TEACHERS BOARD MEMBERS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS WHO ARE IN THE ARENA WITH US.

IT SAYS IT IS NOT THE CRITIC WHO COUNTS, NOT THE MAN WHO POINTS OUT HOW THE STRONG MAN STUMBLES OR WHERE THE DOER OF DEEDS COULD HAVE DONE THEM BETTER.

THE CRITICS HAVE BEEN PLENTIFUL THIS YEAR, BUT TEACHERS HAVE NOT STOPPED DOING THEIR JOBS.

WE'VE HEARD CRITICS TALK ABOUT HOW UNHAPPY WE ARE ABOUT US HATING OUR LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS, INCLUDING FLEXIBLE FURNITURE, ABOUT WHAT WE CAN AND CANNOT TEACH.

BUT TEACHERS OFTEN DO NOT GET THE CREDIT THEY DESERVE.

IN A DAY WE HOLD A TRASH CAN FOR A KID THROWING UP, PUT BAND-AIDS ON INVISIBLE CUTS, TEACH KIDS TO SHARE PROBLEM, SOLVE, COPE, COLLABORATE, ADVOCATE FOR THEMSELVES.

ANSWER WHAT FEELS LIKE 500 QUESTIONS IN A DAY.

I WISH I COULD KEEP COUNT ALL WHILE TEACHING THEM THE EXPECTED CURRICULUM WHILE WEARING MANY HATS.

WE ONLY WISH WE COULD BE SUCCESSFUL WITH EACH OF THESE THINGS, BUT SOMETIMES WE FAIL.

THE MAN IN THE ARENA ALSO SAYS IT IS THE ONE WHO SPENDS HIMSELF IN A WORTHY CAUSE, WHO AT BEST, IN THE END KNOWS THE TRIUMPH OF HIGH ACHIEVEMENT AND WHO, AT WORST, IF HE FAILS, AT LEAST FAILS WHILE DARING GREATLY.

THIS JOB IS HARD.

SOMETIMES WE FAIL, BUT WE SPEND OURSELVES IN A WORTHY CAUSE.

IN THE END, WE COME TO WORK.

LOVE THE KIDS. ALL THE KIDS PUSH THROUGH THE NOISE THAT SOMETIMES FEELS UNRELATED TO EDUCATION AND FEELS MORE LIKE A POLITICAL AGENDA.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, WE SHOW UP.

WE'VE HAD MANY OF YOU SITTING UP HERE SHOW UP IN OUR BUILDING AT VARIOUS TIMES THIS YEAR BY BEING A MYSTERY READER, CELEBRATING KIDS DURING GOAL GETTERS.

SEEING A KID LED SHARK TANK AND A SCHOOL DEDICATION, AND DR.

WALDRIP AND HIS WIFE EVEN SHOWED UP AND SPENT TIME BUILDING PE CARTS ON HIS SATURDAY OFF OVER THE SUMMER, TEACHERS NOTICED THOSE OF YOU WHO SHOW UP TO CLOSE.

I WANT TO MENTION TWO CLASS MEETINGS WE HAVE REGULARLY.

THE FIRST IS THAT EVERY ONE OF US IS DIFFERENT.

WE LOOK DIFFERENT, SOUND DIFFERENT, LEARN DIFFERENTLY, BUT THAT'S WHAT MAKES US SPECIAL.

WE TALK ABOUT A CLASSROOM WHERE IF ALL OF US WERE THE SAME, HOW BORING IT WOULD BE.

KEEP THAT IN MIND WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT KIDS.

WE DON'T GET TO PICK AND CHOOSE WHO WE'RE RESPECTFUL TO.

WE DON'T GET TO PUT EACH OTHER DOWN.

WE DON'T GET TO EXCLUDE CLASSMATES WHO ARE DIFFERENT FROM US.

I ENCOURAGE SOME OF YOU TO COME LISTEN TO THAT CONVERSATION BECAUSE EVEN A ROOM FULL OF FIVE AND SIX YEAR OLDS UNDERSTAND THAT.

THE OTHER IS THAT SCHOOL IS A PLACE FOR A LOT OF THINGS, BUT ONE OF THOSE IS WORK.

WE HAVE EXPECTATIONS AND CANNOT SIMPLY PICK AND CHOOSE.

WHEN WE DO OUR WORK, THEY RECOGNIZE THE RESPONSIBILITY THEY HOLD ONCE AGAIN, EVEN IN KINDERGARTEN, WE REFLECT DAILY ON WHETHER OR NOT WE SHOWED UP AND DID OUR JOB, OR DID WE

[00:05:07]

PICK AND CHOOSE WHEN WE WANTED TO? I CANNOT IMAGINE THE WEIGHT OF THE POSITIONS YOU HOLD, BUT I WANT TO THANK THOSE OF YOU WHO CONTINUE TO SHOW UP AND DO THE WORK.

THANK YOU. MICHELE NICOLE FOLLOWED BY SARITA DOTSON AND THEN MARIA BARONE.

HI, MY NAME IS MICHELE NICOLE.

I AM A SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER AT BRIGHT ACADEMY, AND WE ARE HERE TO SAY THANK YOU TO THE MANY OF YOU WHO HELPED BRIGHT WHEN WE EXPERIENCED OUR FLOOD ON APRIL THE 11TH.

FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT DON'T KNOW, WE HAD A SUDDEN WATER PLUMBING ISSUE THAT JUST SHOWED UP.

AND I JUST WANT TO TAKE A MINUTE TO SAY THAT WHILE THE FRONT OFFICE AND HALLWAYS STOOD UNDER WATER, NOT ONE PERSON PANICKED.

BRIGHT STAFF IMMEDIATELY BEGAN BRAINSTORMING WAYS TO KEEP STUDENTS SAFE AND COMFORTABLE.

ADMIN AND OFFICE STAFF KICKED INTO EMERGENCY PROTOCOL IN MUCH OF THE SCHOOL OPERATIONS WERE ABLE TO CONTINUE, AT LEAST IN PART, UNTIL A PERMANENT SOLUTION COULD BE IMPLEMENTED ON. HONESTLY, I EXPECT THAT OF MY BRIGHT FAMILY.

OUR STAFF ALWAYS RISES TO A CHALLENGE BUT BEFORE US AND WORKS THE PROBLEM THROUGH TO THE END.

AND WE DID UNTIL THE LAST STUDENT WAS PICKED UP BY A PARENT SAFELY AND SENT ON THEIR WAY.

THE BEST PART OF THIS EXPERIENCE, HOWEVER, WAS SEEING THE SHEER VOLUME OF DISTRICT LEVEL SUPPORT STAFF, DIRECTORS, COORDINATORS, CUSTODIANS AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS THAT HEARD THE SOS SHOWED UP AND GOT TO WORK.

THIS WAS NOT PLEASANT WORK.

BACKED UP PLUMBING IS NO ONE'S IDEA OF A GREAT TUESDAY MORNING, BUT THESE SERVANTS SHOWED UP AND JUMPED IN HELPING LOAD KIDS ON BUSSES TO TAKE THEM FOR RESTROOM BREAKS AT OTHER CAMPUSES, PASSING OUT TOILET PAPER, MOVING FURNITURE, WORKING THROUGH OPERATION ADJUSTMENTS, OPENING KETCHUP PACKETS FOR KINDERS WHILE IN A SUIT AND TIE AND ENTERTAINING KIDS AT CARPOOL WHILE WAITING ON PARENTS SOMEWHERE THERE OFFERING A BOTTLE OF WATER.

YES, IT WAS CLEAN FOR THOSE ONE FOR THE ONES KNEE DEEP IN THE MESS.

AT ONE POINT, LUNCH SHOWED UP FOR THE ENTIRE STAFF THAT NEVER HAD A CHANCE TO STOP AND EAT.

PLEASE JOIN ME IN OFFERING A HUGE SHOUT OUT.

AND THANK YOU TO THE FOLLOWING PEOPLE.

I KNOW WE HAVE PROBABLY MISSED A FEW, SO IF YOU'RE ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE, WE APOLOGIZE.

MONICA JACKSON.

INGRID DODD. MIA BENNETT.

JEFF MEN. JODY DAVIS.

KRISTI FIORE.

MELISSA ELLIS.

AURORA. SANTIAGO.

NOEL. NIXON. MIKE.

THE GREAT CUSTODIAN, ALL BRIGHT CUSTODIANS AND ALL FROM THAT DEPARTMENT THAT CAME TO HELP BUILDING MAINTENANCE CREWS, THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT WHO DEPLOYED BUSSES TO MOVE KIDS BACK AND FORTH TO DIFFERENT CAMPUSES.

DANIEL KIM SRO MULTIPLE SECURITY OFFICERS THAT DESCENDED UPON BRIGHT TO KEEP EVERYONE SAFE AND SECURE.

COREY MCCLENDON AND TRUSTEE DYNETTE DAVIS, WHO SHOWED UP AND DID A HUGE AMOUNT OF WORK THAT DAY.

THESE PEOPLE CAME TO HELP.

NOT FOR THE GLORY, NOT FOR THE PHOTO OP.

MOST OF YOU WOULDN'T EVEN BE AWARE OF WHAT ALL TRANSPIRED IN THAT SIX HOUR SPAN.

BUT TO THOSE THAT CAME, I THANK YOU.

YOUR BRIGHT FAMILY THANKS YOU AND FRISCO ISD IS BLESSED TO HAVE EACH OF YOU.

OKAY. GOOD EVENING, MADAM PRESIDENT.

DR. WALDRIP AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.

WHEN YOUR HEART BLEEDS PUBLIC SCHOOLS, YOU UNDERSTAND THAT WE ARE IN THE PEOPLE BUSINESS AND WE SHOW UP FOR ALL KIDS.

TWO WEEKS AGO, OUR CAMPUS HAD A SERIOUS PLUMBING ISSUE WHICH STOPPED INSTRUCTION AND REQUIRED A CHANGE IN OUR DAY.

OUR INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT TEAM AND OTHER CENTRAL ADMINISTRATION WORKERS QUICKLY MADE A PIVOT IN THEIR DAY TO SUPPORT THE STAFF AND STUDENTS AT BRIGHT ACADEMY, THE THREE ELEMENTARY MANAGING DIRECTORS OF SCHOOLS, MISS JACKSON, DR.

BENNETT AND MISS DODD WERE ALL THERE IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS SUPPORTING THE CAMPUS AND CALLING PARENTS FOR US.

THE TEACHING AND LEARNING STAFF, MISS DE SANTIAGO, MISS ELLIS AND DR.

FIORE SHOWED UP AND ASSURED KIDS WERE LOADED IN CARS.

DR. DAVIS MET THE TEACHERS AT ACKER TO MAKE SURE THAT ALL STUDENTS NEEDS WERE MET.

MR. MCCLENDON MADE SURE THAT STAFF HAD A CHANCE TO EAT AFTER MUCH LONG, HARD DAY.

MR WARSTLER CONTINUED TO CALL ME AND ASK HOW I WAS DOING AND PROVIDED SEVERAL CHECK INS WITH ME BECAUSE SOMETHING ELSE WAS GOING ON ON OUR CAMPUS.

I TRULY DO THANK HIM FOR THAT.

MISS MCCUNE HELPED WRITE LETTERS SO QUICKLY SO WE COULD COMMUNICATE TO OUR COMMUNITY, AND SHE DID NOT STOP UNTIL I HIT SEND.

SHE CALLED AND ASKED OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

PUSH, SEND, PUSH, SIN.

BUT I KNEW IT WAS BECAUSE SHE CARED ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY.

BOARD MEMBERS WERE MADE AWARE OF THIS SITUATION, AND MISS DAVIS CAME TO SUPPORT THE CAMPUS.

SHE ANSWERED PHONES AND ALSO LOADED CARS FOR US.

THE NEXT DAY, MR CASEY EVEN CHECKED IN AND ASKED ME HOW THE STUDENTS AND STAFF WERE DOING.

TOWARDS THE END OF THE DAY, DR.

LITTON CALLED TO MAKE SURE ALL KIDS HAVE BEEN PICKED UP AND ASKED IF THERE WAS ANYTHING ELSE SHE COULD DO FOR US.

ADDITIONALLY, WE HAD SROS, MAINTENANCE WORKERS AND TRANSPORTATION ALL WORKING TOGETHER TO SUPPORT THE CAMPUS.

[00:10:04]

I WANT TO MAKE IT CLEAR TONIGHT THAT THIS TYPE OF SUPPORT AND SERVANT LEADERSHIP STARTS AT THE TOP, WHICH IN THIS DISTRICT BEGINS WITH DR.

WALDRIP. ONE OF HIS FIRST PRIORITIES WHEN HE CAME TO THIS DISTRICT WAS THAT WE HAD A CLEAR PLAN FOR EMERGENCIES.

HE HIRED MR BODIE, WHO WAS PUT WHO PUT CLEAR SYSTEMS IN PLACE.

THIS IS A TESTIMONY OF WHY ON THIS SPECIFIC DAY, OUR CHALLENGES THAT WERE PRESENTED TO US TURNED INTO CELEBRATIONS.

OUR CAMPUS SPENT THE AFTERNOON DISCUSSING THE EVENTS AND APPLAUDED HOW NO ONE MISSED A BEAT.

THE ONE COMMENT I HEARD OVER AND OVER AGAIN AS THE CAMPUS PRINCIPAL WAS, WOW, THE INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP TEAM SHOWED UP AND THEY WERE HERE FOR KIDS, ALL KIDS.

DR. WALDRIP AND THE INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT TEAM, THE BRIGHT ACADEMY STAFF WANTS TO THANK YOU FOR PUTTING SYSTEMS IN PLACE THAT ENSURES CAMPUS SAFETY.

WE APPRECIATE YOU.

AND OUR BETTER BECAUSE OF YOU.

WE NOTICE YOUR HARD WORK AND DEDICATION TO SUPPORT OUR CAMPUSES.

THANK YOU FOR REMINDING US THAT EVEN IN THE THICKEST MOMENTS, WE ARE IN THE PEOPLE BUSINESS, THE PEOPLE, THE BUSINESS TO SERVE ALL.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU, MARIA BARONE, FOLLOWED BY KELLY MCCORD, JENNA BECKER AND DANIELLE ESPOSITO.

HELLO, EVERYONE.

I'M MARIA BARONE, A SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER AT BRIGHT ACADEMY.

AND YES, I'M HERE ALSO TO THANK EVERYONE THAT SHOWED UP TO OUR CAMPUS ON THAT TUESDAY.

I KNOW THIS IS THE THIRD PERSON TO SPEAK ABOUT SEWAGE WATER IN OUR SCHOOL, BUT IT WAS A VERY BIG DAY FOR US.

AND LOOKING BACK ON IT IN THE MOMENT, IT WAS LIKE HARD TO PROCESS.

BUT LOOKING BACK ON IT AND JUST REFLECTING ON THAT DAY, THE AMOUNT OF DISTRICT PERSONNEL THAT SHOWED UP TO ASSIST US WAS ALMOST BROUGHT ME TO TEARS.

AND I'M SITTING THERE LIKE ON MY COUCH DECOMPRESSING WITH MY HUSBAND AND I'M GETTING TEARY EYED JUST THINKING ABOUT IT.

AND HE'S LIKE, WHY ARE YOU CRYING? AND I WAS LIKE, YOU HAVE NO IDEA.

AND SO I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT IT WAS SO HEARTWARMING FOR ME TO SEE SO MANY PEOPLE LEAVE THEIR OFFICES, THEIR BUILDINGS, WHATEVER IT IS THAT YOU'RE DOING.

SO I KNOW IT'S VERY IMPORTANT STUFF.

AND TO COME TO OUR CAMPUS TO WADE THROUGH INCHES OF SEWER WATER TO ASSIST US.

I WAS ASSISTING A FIRST GRADE CLASSROOM WITH GETTING THEM LINED UP TO GET ON A BUS, TO GO TO ANOTHER SCHOOL, TO GO TO THE BATHROOM, WHICH THEY WERE EXCITED TO TAKE A FIELD TRIP TO THE BATHROOM. AND AS I OPENED THE DOOR, WHAT DO I SEE? BUT DR. FIORE HANDING ME THREE ROLLS OF PAPER TOWELS OR TOILET PAPER, AND SHE'S LIKE, HERE, YOU MIGHT NEED THIS.

SO I'M CARRYING ROLLS OF TOILET PAPER DOWN THE HALL WITH MY FIRST GRADERS AND THEN OUT IN THE PODS AS WE'RE WAITING FOR THE BUSSES IS MS. SANTIAGO, AND SHE IS SINGING SONGS WITH THE KIDS AND KEEPING THEM ENGAGED.

AND THEY'RE JUST SITTING THERE HAPPY AS CAN BE, NOT REALIZING THAT OUR SCHOOL IS ACTUALLY IN A STATE OF CRISIS RIGHT NOW.

AND THEN THEY GET ONTO THE BUS, THEY'RE EXCITED, WE GET TO [INAUDIBLE] AND THERE'S PEOPLE THERE WAITING FOR US, GREETING US WITH OPEN ARMS, HELPING US, SHOWING US WHERE THE BATHROOM IS. I HAD BATHROOM MONITORS THAT WERE THERE WITH ME.

DR. DAVIS IS THERE.

WE WERE SENDING KIDS IN AND OUT IN SUCH AN EFFICIENT STRATEGY, WHICH I DON'T KNOW IF YOU'VE EVER TAKEN A WHOLE GRADE LEVEL OF KINDERGARTEN AND FIRST GRADE TO A BATHROOM, BUT IT IS NOT AN EASY FEAT TO GET THEM ALL IN AND OUT AND BACK ON A SCHOOL BUS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY.

BUT WE WERE ABLE TO DO IT BECAUSE OF THE HELP OF EVERYONE THAT SHOWED UP FROM THE DISTRICT.

AND I AM JUST SO THANKFUL TO BE A PART OF A DISTRICT THAT TAKES TIME TO HELP OUT IN THE SMALL MOMENTS.

I KNOW WE TALK A LOT ABOUT ALL THESE DIFFERENT THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING RIGHT NOW IN EDUCATION, BUT IT'S THESE LITTLE MOMENTS THAT MATTER THE MOST, ESPECIALLY TO US TEACHERS, BECAUSE SOMETIMES WE DON'T FEEL SEEN OR WE DON'T FEEL HEARD.

AND WHEN I OPEN A DOOR AND THERE'S DR.

FIORE HANDING ME TOILET PAPER, I FEEL SEEN.

I FEEL HEARD. AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT.

KELLY MCCORD, FOLLOWED BY JENNA BECKER, DANIELLE ESPOSITO, AND THEN MITCHELL TILLERSON.

HELLO, MY NAME IS KELLY MCCORD AND I'M IN MY 11TH YEAR AS FRISCO ISD EMPLOYEE.

THANK YOU FOR PROVIDING THESE COMMUNITY INPUT NIGHTS AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE ABOUT THE AMAZING THINGS HAPPENING IN OUR DISTRICT.

LIKE MANY OF MY COLLEAGUES, I'VE GROWN WEARY OF HEARING LIES ABOUT HOW OUR STUDENTS ARE BEING INDOCTRINATED AND ILL PREPARED FOR THEIR LIVES BEYOND HIGH SCHOOL.

LET ME SHARE SOME EVIDENCE TO THE CONTRARY.

AS A MEMBER OF THE TEACHING AND LEARNING TEAM, I HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK ALONGSIDE PANTHER CREEK HIGH SCHOOL, AND IT HAS BEEN A JOY TO WATCH THE STAFF REALLY LEAN INTO THE CHALLENGING WORK OF OPENING A NEW SCHOOL BUILDING AND CREATING A UNIQUE CULTURE WHILE AT THE SAME TIME EMBRACING AN INQUIRY STANCE FOR STUDENT LEARNING.

[00:15:07]

LAST WEEK, A GROUP OF EDUCATORS FROM AUSTRALIA CAME TO FRISCO TO GET AN IN-PERSON LOOK AT HOW PANTHER CREEK AND EMERSON ARE PREPARING STUDENTS FOR THEIR FUTURES.

THE HIGHLIGHT OF THESE VISITS WAS LISTENING TO THE PANEL OF STUDENTS ANSWER QUESTIONS FROM THE VISITORS.

STUDENTS DESCRIBED A STRONG FEELING OF CONNECTEDNESS AND ATTRIBUTED THIS TO THE COLLABORATIVE WORK THEY DO WITH THEIR PEERS AND THEIR TEACHERS IN THE CLASSROOM.

WHEN ASKED ABOUT HOW LEARNING IS DIFFERENT AT PANTHER CREEK THAN AT THEIR PREVIOUS SCHOOLS, ONE STUDENT TALKED ABOUT HOW IMPORTANT EVERY SINGLE ASSIGNMENT IS BECAUSE THEY ALL BUILD TO HIS CULMINATING PRODUCT, AND HE CLEARLY STATED THAT HE IS MUCH MORE FOCUSED ON LEARNING NOW RATHER THAN JUST COMPLETING ASSIGNMENTS.

STUDENTS WERE ASKED IF THEY FELT LEARNING THROUGH A PROJECT BASED LENS, WAS ALSO PREPARING THEM FOR SUCCESS ON THE STATE ASSESSMENT, SINCE THAT IS OUR REALITY.

ONE STUDENT, ALMOST A LITTLE PERPLEXED BY THE QUESTION ASKED OR STATED THAT WE'RE STILL LEARNING ALL THE STUFF WE NEED TO LEARN.

IT'S JUST HOW WE'RE LEARNING THAT'S DIFFERENT.

I COULD GO ON AND ON ABOUT THESE AMAZING STUDENTS, BUT I'LL SHARE ONE FINAL HIGHLIGHT.

ONE OF THE VISITORS ASKED THE STUDENTS TO DESCRIBE A CHALLENGE FACING YOUTH TODAY AND HOW THEIR LEARNING ENVIRONMENT IS PREPARING THEM TO FACE THAT CHALLENGE.

ONE STUDENT QUICKLY RESPONDED SOCIAL ANXIETY IS A REAL THING FOR STUDENTS TODAY.

MY CLASSES REQUIRE THAT I LEARN HOW TO COLLABORATE AND COMMUNICATE WITH OTHERS THAT I DO NOT KNOW AND MAY NOT HAVE MUCH IN COMMON WITH.

NOW, WHEN I'M IN SOCIAL SITUATIONS, I'M MORE CONFIDENT AND COMFORTABLE BECAUSE OF WHAT I'VE BEEN ABLE TO DO IN SCHOOLS.

THESE STUDENTS ARE EXPERIENCING BOTH ACADEMIC AND FUTURE READY SUCCESS DUE TO THE CONDITIONS THE TEACHERS ARE CREATING IN THE CLASSROOM.

THERE IS ALSO A TEACHER PANEL THAT DAY.

MOST OF THESE TEACHERS HAD ONLY 2 TO 3 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AND ALL SPOKE HIGHLY OF THE SUPPORT THAT THEY HAVE RECEIVED AT THE CAMPUS FROM INSTRUCTIONAL COACHES AND ADMINISTRATORS.

I AM PROUD OF THE WORK WE ARE DOING IN FRISCO ISD.

WHAT I HAVE DESCRIBED IS JUST A SNIPPET OF THE STUDENT SUCCESSES THAT CAN BE FOUND IN OUR DISTRICT.

DR. WALDRIP AND DR.

CUNNINGHAM AND THE REST OF ISD.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR FOCUS ON PREPARING ALL STUDENTS FOR THEIR FUTURES AND FOR SETTING CONDITIONS THAT FOCUS ON SUPPORTING AND EMPOWERING OUR EDUCATORS.

DESPITE THE LOUD RHETORIC TO THE CONTRARY, ACADEMIC AND REAL WORLD PREPAREDNESS IS ALIVE AND WELL IN FRISCO ISD.

HELLO, MY NAME IS JENNA BECKER AND I AM A SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST IN FRISCO ISD.

I HOLD THE LICENSE SPECIALIST IN SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY.

THAT'S A MOUTHFUL TO SAY.

EVEN LICENSES ARE BIGGER IN TEXAS.

I ALSO AM THE CURRENT PRESIDENT OF OUR STATE SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY ORGANIZATION.

THOUGH TONIGHT I'M SPEAKING FROM MY OWN PERSPECTIVE.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

I UNDERSTAND A SMALL PART OF WHAT IT'S LIKE TO REPRESENT SOMETHING BIGGER THAN MYSELF.

I THANK THOSE OF YOU THAT PUSH ASIDE YOUR PERSONAL AND POLITICAL AGENDAS TO SERVE THIS DISTRICT.

MY WORK IN THIS DISTRICT IS MOSTLY IN THE SPECIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT, BUT I PROVIDE SUPPORT TO STUDENTS ALL ACROSS OUR DISTRICT.

I AM PROUD TO SAY THAT I WORK IN FRISCO ISD FOR EVERY STUDENT THAT IS REFERRED FOR A SPECIAL EDUCATION EVALUATION.

I CAN SOMETIMES SPEND 20 HOURS WORKING, EVALUATING, WRITING A REPORT AND WORKING WITH STAFF.

DECISIONS ABOUT SPECIAL EDUCATION ARE MADE BY A TEAM OF PEOPLE, INCLUDING TEACHERS, ADMINISTRATORS, PARENTS AND MYSELF.

THERE ARE BOTH FEDERAL AND STATE LAWS GUIDING HOW I PRACTICE SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY IN THE STATE OF TEXAS, INCLUDING A DEFINITION OF THE TERM EMOTIONALLY DISTURBED.

I WENT TO GRADUATE SCHOOL TO BE TRAINED TO IDENTIFY DISABILITIES AND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A DISABILITY AND A DIFFERENCE AND TO PLAN FOR INTERVENTIONS, PLUS DEVELOPING A HOST OF OTHER SKILLS THAT I BRING TO THIS DISTRICT.

I WORK ALONGSIDE TEACHERS IN A VARIETY OF CLASSES AND HAVE SEEN FIRSTHAND HOW HARD THESE EDUCATORS WORK TO APPROPRIATELY INDIVIDUALIZE SUPPORT FOR KIDS WITH EMOTIONAL AND BEHAVIORAL NEEDS.

I CARE DEEPLY ABOUT STUDENTS AND WORK HARD TO ENSURE MY WORK MAKES A POSITIVE IMPACT ON STUDENTS.

IT IS MY HOPE THAT THIS BOARD WORKS JUST AS HARD TO SUPPORT EVERY SINGLE FRISCO ISD STUDENT AND STAFF MEMBER.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

DANIELLE ESPOSITO, FOLLOWED BY MITCHELL TILLISON AND THEN TREY KROUPA.

HI, GOOD EVENING. MY NAME IS DANIELLE ESPOSITO AND I AM JOINT MANAGING CONSERVATOR AND MATERNAL GRANDMOTHER OF TWO CHILDREN AT OGLE ELEMENTARY, A SECOND AND THIRD GRADER.

I CAME HERE PERSONALLY TONIGHT TO SING THE PRAISES OF JODY DAVIS AS SOME OF THE OTHER PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY DONE.

SHE HAS BEEN HANDLING THE SITUATION FOR ME, AND SHE HAS BEEN A ROCK STAR SINCE LAST YEAR WHEN I SPOKE TO HER.

[00:20:01]

AND ALSO SHELLY ANDERSON, I WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW HOW GREAT THEY'VE BEEN.

UNFORTUNATELY, I HAVE HAD TO ESCALATE UP TO YOU GUYS TO THE APPEAL.

AND I WANTED TO COME PERSONALLY TO ASK IF I COULD BE GRANTED AN IN-PERSON HEARING.

FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT IS SUPPOSED TO SUBMIT INFORMATION TO YOU, BUT I DON'T HAVE MUCH TRUST IN THEM BECAUSE THEY HAVE TOLD ME SOME FALSEHOODS AND I WANTED TO ASK IF I COULD.

I KNOW YOU CAN'T ANSWER ME NOW, BUT I JUST WANTED TO COME IN PERSON AND ASK IF I COULD HAVE THAT HEARING, SINCE IT IS THE THIRD LEVEL OF THE APPEAL WITH YOU.

SO I LEFT MY EMAIL AND EVERYTHING AND HOPEFULLY YOU WILL GRANT ME THAT IT'S FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN AND IT'S A VERY SCARY SITUATION.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

AND TO PUT YOUR MIND AT EASE, WE HAVE RECEIVED THE REQUEST FROM OUR LEGAL DEPARTMENT, SO WE CAN'T SPEAK ABOUT IT HERE THIS EVENING.

BUT JUST KNOW THAT THE COMMUNICATION HAS ALREADY BEEN SHARED WITH THE BOARD.

OKAY. THANK YOU.

MITCHELL TILLERSON, FOLLOWED BY SRI KRUPA AND THEN STEPHEN BRUNSON.

MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.

I TEACH COLLEGE LEVEL RHETORIC TO HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS VIA UT ON RAMPS, SO I TAKE GREAT PRIDE AND CARE WHEN I COME TO THESE MEETINGS, LEST MY STUDENTS ONE DAY STUMBLE UPON MY WORDS. TIME AND TIME AGAIN.

I'VE CHOSEN TO COME UP HERE AND JOYFULLY RESIST AGAINST THE MOST IGNORANT AND PREJUDICIAL POLICIES LOBBIED FOR BY ONE OF OUR SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS, MR. MARVIN LOWE. TODAY, HOWEVER, I WISH TO HIGHLIGHT HOW MR. LOWE'S PRESENCE ON THIS BOARD AND HIS SILENCE AGAINST MORE HATEFUL RHETORIC IN A LOCAL ORGANIZATION PRESENTS THIS BOARD WITH EDUCATOR RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION PROBLEMS. I RECENTLY FOUND FOOTAGE OF ONE OF LOWE'S MOST ARDENT SUPPORTERS AND A FREQUENT FLIER HERE IN THESE BOARD MEETINGS, ALLISON DARRELL, SPEWING A LITANY OF LIES AND MISINFORMATION AT AN EVENT CALLED CALLING THE WATCHMEN OF COLLIN COUNTY.

IT IS THERE THAT ALLISON DARRELL SHARED WITH HER AUDIENCE THE ASSERTION THAT UNGODLY ORDER HAS PLACED WOMEN IN CHARGE OF MEN IN CHURCH AND SOCIETY, AND THAT BECAUSE OF THIS, CHILDREN'S MINDS ARE UNCOVERED AND EXPOSED TO ALL SORTS OF DEMONIC SPIRITS SUCH AS DISORDER, ADHD, LEARNING DISABILITIES, GENDER CONFUSION, ETCETERA.

YOU WONDER WHY ONE OF YOUR SPECIAL EDUCATORS FELT THE NEED TO COME UP HERE AND DEFEND THEMSELVES.

SHE THEN LAYS OUT A PLAN TO FIRE OUR SUPERINTENDENT AND PURGE OUR SCHOOLS OF THOSE WHO WOULD NOT COMPORT TO HER VIEWS.

HERE'S WHAT I DIDN'T HEAR AT THE WATCHMEN MEETING.

OUR VERY OWN MARVIN LOWE CALLING OUT STATEMENTS LIKE THOSE AS FALLACIES.

HE WAS THERE, THOUGH, AND HE HAD THE CHANCE TO SOMEONE THIS AUDIENCE TRUSTS AND RESPECTS TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT, TO TELL THIS AUDIENCE THAT OUR SCHOOLS DO NOT CASTRATE KIDS, THAT WE DO NOT MUTILATE THEM, THAT OUR STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS ARE NOT KIDS POSSESSED BY DEMONIC SPIRITS.

THAT SILENCE IS DEAFENING TO THE EARS OF EDUCATORS AROUND FRISCO AND BEYOND.

SEE, ON ALL THOSE OCCASIONS BEFORE, WHEN I'VE STOOD HERE AND SPOKEN AS A FATHER AND A COMMUNITY MEMBER, MY OTHER ROLE IS OFTEN TO SPEAK AS A FELLOW EDUCATOR.

BUT UNTIL NOW, I'VE NEVER EXPLAINED WHY I HAVEN'T SWITCHED TO MY OWN KIDS HOME DISTRICT AS A TEACHER.

I CAN'T TRUST EVERYONE ON THIS BOARD TO HAVE MY BACK AGAINST THOSE WHO WOULD SEEK TO HARM ME FOR MY ADVOCACY AND OUTSPOKEN DEFENSE OF EACH AND EVERY STUDENT THAT PASSES THROUGH MY CLASSROOM DOOR. AND YOU ALL KNOW WHAT YOU'RE MISSING OUT ON A TEACHER INCENTIVE ALIGNMENT DESIGNATED EXEMPLARY TEACHER WHOSE ONLY TWO POINTS SHY OF MASTERS.

A TEACHER WHOSE TEST DOMAINS ONE THROUGH FOUR MEAN SCORES A 4.85.

I'M A TEACHER WHO'S NEVER HAD LESS THAN 57% OF MY STUDENTS DEMONSTRATE GROWTH IN THEIR MATH.

I'M A TEACHER WHO JUST COACHED NOVICE DEBATERS TO MULTIPLE AWARDS AND OUR VERY FIRST SEASON IN OVER 20 YEARS IN OUR CAMPUS.

I'M A TEACHER WHO JUST MENTORED A STUDENT TO AN INVITATION TO JOIN THE BRAVE NEW VOICES DFW REGIONAL TEAM AT THE UPCOMING REGIONAL SLAM CONTEST IN HOUSTON.

I'M AN NTN TRAINED, PROJECT BASED LEARNING TEACHER WITH THREE YEARS AND ONE OF THE LEADING NTN ACADEMIES IN THIS STATE.

I'M A TEACHER WHOSE SUCCESSES OCCURRED DESPITE MY NEAR MONTH OF ABSENCES IN THE EARLY WINTER DURING MY SON'S MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS.

MR. LOWE, YOU ARE THE REASON I WILL NOT APPLY TO THIS DISTRICT.

BUT YOU HAVE A CHANCE RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW, TO CHANGE MY MIND.

TELL ME THAT YOU VOCIFEROUSLY DENY THEIR LEARNING DISABILITIES AND DISORDERS ARE SIMPLY DEMONIC SPIRITS POSSESSING OUR KIDS.

TELL ME THAT YOU WILL SUPPORT A CENSURE OF ALLISON DARRELL.

THANK YOU. AND TELL ME THAT YOU WILL CEASE ATTACKING TRANS KIDS LIKE MINE.

THANK YOU.

IT'S KRUPA.

AND I'M SORRY THAT. WOULD YOU PRONOUNCE YOUR LAST NAME FOR US? SATHYANARAYANAN. I WOULD HAVE ABSOLUTELY MADE YOU SO SAD WITH MY READING OF THAT.

SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

I'M SO SORRY. IT'S PERFECTLY ALL RIGHT.

YOU SAID MY FIRST NAME REALLY NICELY, THOUGH.

[00:25:02]

THANK YOU. GREAT.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

OKAY, SO MY NAME IS SHAKER SATYANARAYANAN AND I'M A JUNIOR ATTENDING EMERSON HIGH SCHOOL, AND I WANTED TO BRING UP THE TOPIC OF STUDENTS IN FISD AND THEIR FINE ARTS CREDITS.

SPECIFICALLY, I WANT TO DRAW ATTENTION TO THE 1500 TO OVER 2000 FISD STUDENTS LEARNING AND PURSUING INDIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC.

THESE STUDENTS HAVE BEEN LEARNING THIS ART FORM FOR FIVE, SOME EVEN TEN YEARS.

BUT THEY'RE HAVING TO TAKE OTHER FINE ARTS CLASSES LIKE ORCHESTRA, BAND, CHOIR THEATER TO GET THEIR CREDIT AND GRADUATE DESPITE THEIR SEVERAL YEARS OF TRAINING. I ALSO HAPPEN TO BE ONE OF THESE STUDENTS AND I'VE BEEN LEARNING FOR THE PAST SEVEN YEARS.

BUT I NEED TO TAKE ORCHESTRA IN HIGH SCHOOL TO GET MY FINE ARTS CREDIT.

SOME OF THESE STUDENTS SADLY EVEN QUIT.

AND AS A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM, I WAS LOOKING THROUGH THE FISD HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMIC GUIDE AND COURSE CATALOG, AND I NOTICED IN THE WORLD LANGUAGES DEPARTMENT THERE WAS AN OPTION WHERE STUDENTS CAN SHOW THE DISTRICT A CERTIFICATE FROM AN ACCREDITED SCHOOL AND GET CREDIT.

AND I IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT, WHY NOT IMPLEMENT THIS IN THE FINE ARTS DEPARTMENT AS WELL? I LOOKED INTO IT AND THERE ARE SEVERAL ORGANIZATIONS HERE IN FRISCO THAT CONDUCT EXAMINATIONS AND TESTS A STUDENT'S PROFICIENCY IN THE ART FORM THROUGH PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS AND EXPERTS.

ONE EXAMPLE OF THESE ORGANIZATIONS IS SANGEET BHARATI AMERICA, A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT I VOLUNTEER AT, AND I KNOW ALL THE STUDENTS PURSUING INDIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE FISD SUPPORTING THEM AND THEIR PASSIONS BY OFFERING CREDITS. AND IT'S NOT JUST INDIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC, IT'S OTHER ART FORMS AS WELL, FROM OTHER CULTURES MUSIC, DANCE, PAINTING, DRAWING, WHATEVER IT IS. ALL STUDENTS WOULD BE SO HAPPY TO BE PART AND BE RECOGNIZED BY THEIR SCHOOL FOR THE THINGS THAT THEY DO OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL.

NOW, THESE CURRICULUM STANDARDS AND ALL THE FORMALITIES HAVE ALREADY BEEN WELL ESTABLISHED IN THESE MUSIC ORGANIZATIONS.

SO THE ONLY THING THAT WILL NEED TO HAPPEN IS THE LINK FROM THE DISTRICT TO THESE ORGANIZATIONS TO BE CREATED.

AND I REQUEST THE HELP OF THE CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION LEADERSHIP TO MAKE THIS A REALITY.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU, DR. CUNNINGHAM.

YES. THANK YOU, MADAM PRESIDENT.

FIRST, I WANT TO SAY I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU WENT, BUT MY GOSH, SO WELL SPOKEN.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

ANYONE. IF THAT'S NOT FUTURE READY.

I'M NOT SURE WHAT IS, BUT WHAT I WANTED TO SAY IS THAT THERE ARE SOME POSSIBILITIES THAT WE WANT TO LOOK THROUGH.

AND IF MS. MILLER AND I WILL GET IN TOUCH WITH YOU AND WE'LL GET SOME THINGS IN THE BACKGROUND.

THERE ARE SOME LEGAL HURDLES WITH THE TEKS TO HANDLE, BUT WE'LL GET BACK TO YOU VERY SOON.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. MR. BRUNSON. THE FLOOR IS YOURS. GOOD EVENING.

MY NAME IS STEVEN BRUNSON. I'VE GOT TWO GRANDCHILDREN.

ONE GRADUATED FROM HERITAGE LAST YEAR AND ONE IS AT LEBANON TRAIL.

I WANT TO TALK ABOUT TWO PNL STATEMENTS THAT ARE ON YOUR WEB PAGE FOR FISCAL YEAR ENDING 2022 AND 2021.

AND MY QUESTION IS THIS IN 2022 AND 2021, THIS DISTRICT EXPENDED $343,065,988 THAT IT DID NOT RECEIVE IN REVENUE.

WHERE DID THE MONEY COME FROM TO RETIRE THE DEFICITS? DOES ANYBODY KNOW? WHERE DID YOU GET THE MONEY TO RETIRE? THE DEFICITS? THAT'S $343 MILLION OF DEBT INCURRED.

VENDORS DON'T SIT AROUND WITH THEIR HANDS OUT.

THEY DON'T TAKE SHITS. WHERE DID THE MONEY COME FROM? DOES ANYBODY KNOW? JUST SHOW OF HANDS.

DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE THE MONEY CAME FROM? I MEAN, THESE ARE YOUR THIS IS YOUR PNL, YOUR INCOME STATEMENT.

OKAY. I HAVE AN IDEA.

YOU READ A LITTLE BIT FURTHER DOWN HERE.

IT'S CALLED OTHER FINANCE SOURCES.

WE INCURRED $182,400,000 OF BRAND NEW DEBT IN 2021, 22, RATHER, 250.

1,000,900 AND THOUSAND DOLLARS.

ADDITIONAL DEBT IN 2021.

THAT'S $434,360 OF ADDITIONAL DEBT THAT YOU PEOPLE, TAXPAYERS GET TO PAY THE PRINCIPAL ON AND PAY THE INTEREST ON UNTIL THE PRINCIPAL IS COMPLETELY RETIRED.

MORE DEBT. I THINK PROBABLY SOME OF THAT MONEY THAT THE DEFICIT GOT PAID THAT WAY.

LET'S TALK ABOUT TEACHERS.

2020 TO 850 TEACHERS LEFT THIS DISTRICT 2021, 620 LEFT.

[00:30:01]

THAT'S 1370 TEACHERS LEFT THIS DISTRICT OVER TWO YEARS.

THAT'S 31% OF OUR TOTAL TOTAL TEACHER WORKFORCE.

DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT IT COST TO REPLACE A TEACHER? DO ANY OF YOU ALL HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT IT COST TO REPLACE A TEACHER? DO YOU? YES OR NO, DO YOU? SO YOU DON'T WANT TO TALK TO THE PEOPLE OVER HERE WHO ARE PAYING THE DEBTS.

ABOUT $20,000.

OKAY. TEXAS EDUCATION ASSOCIATION SAYS USE 25 TO 29,000.

ANOTHER ORGANIZATION SAYS USE 21,000.

SO A LEARNING POLICY INSTITUTE, USE 20,000.

YOU KNOW WHAT, 20,000 TIMES 170 IS $29,400,000 IS EXPENSIVE.

RECRUIT, VET, TRAIN AND MOVE UP THE RANK TO FULL PRODUCTIVITY.

THOUSAND HUNDRED AND 70 TEACHERS, $29.4 MILLION THAT YOU PEOPLE HAVE TO PAY BACK THAT YOU COULD HAVE USED ON TEACHERS TO BUY THEM USABLE FURNITURE AND USABLE COMPUTERS.

1470 TEACHERS LEFT OUR EMPLOY FOR NO GOOD REASON.

HOW MANY OF YOU ALL SAT DOWN WITH THESE DEPARTING TEACHERS AND CONDUCTED EXIT INTERVIEWS? IF YOU DID, JUST RAISE YOUR HAND.

DID ANYBODY SIT DOWN AND FIND OUT WHY THESE TEACHERS ARE LEAVING FROM THEM DIRECTLY? THIS QUESTION IS FOR YOU, MRS. DAVIS, BECAUSE YOU WERE TOUTING HOW IMPORTANT TEACHER RETENTION IS AT THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MEETING THE OTHER NIGHT, THE FORUM.

OKAY. YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO YOU.

WHERE IS YOUR PLAN TO GUARANTEE TO THE PEOPLE OF FRISCO THAT THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN? DO YOU HAVE A WRITTEN PLAN? DO YOU HAVE A REDUCED WRITING PLAN THAT WE COULD ACTUALLY SEE AS TAXPAYERS? DO YOU HAVE A PLAN, MISS DAVIS? DOES ANYBODY HAVE A PLAN TO MAKE SURE THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN? ANYBODY JUST RAISE YOUR HAND.

THANK YOU. GREAT.

KELLY. KELLY MORSE.

FOLLOWED BY MONICA RUSSO AND THEN KEITH GROTE.

MISS. I'M SORRY, MISS SMITH. DID YOU WANT TO RESPOND? I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY REALLY QUICKLY THAT THE DISTRICT DOES NOT TAKE ON DEBT TO PAY OPERATING COSTS, AND ANY NEW DEBT THAT WE DID ISSUE WAS VOTED APPROVED BY THE VOTERS IN FRISCO ISD IN 2018 DURING OUR LAST BOND PROGRAM.

THANK YOU. KELLY MORRIS.

EXCUSE ME, MISS ARCHAMBAULT.

I'M SORRY, DR. LINTON.

JUST WANT TO MAKE A CLARIFICATION TO WITH REGARDS TO WHEN TEACHERS LEAVE OR WHEN ANY STAFF LEAVE.

WE DO GET INFORMATION FROM THEM WITHIN THEIR RESIGNATION FORM, SO WE GET INFORMATION ON THE REASON THAT THEY'RE LEAVING.

AND THAT'S WHY WHEN I PRESENT IT TO YOU GUYS BACK IN SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER, I COULD SAY TO YOU THAT 93, 94% OF THE PEOPLE WHO LEFT FOR REASONS OTHER THAN JOB SATISFACTION AND MANY OF THOSE WHO WENT TO OTHER DISTRICTS, IT WAS BASED ON CAREER ADVANCEMENT AND GETTING CLOSER TO HOME.

AND WHILE IT WAS AN EXTREMELY TOUGH YEAR AND WE ALL KNOW IT WAS AN EXTREMELY TOUGH YEAR ALL AROUND THE AREA.

WE HAD THE SECOND LOWEST TURNOVER RATE IN THIS AREA, BOTH BY LOCAL STATS AS WELL AS BY BASED ON THE STATE.

AND WE WERE SECOND BY ONE TENTH OF A PERCENT FROM BEING HAVING THE LOWEST TURNOVER RATE IN THIS AREA BASED ON JUST LOCAL STATISTICS AND TALKING WITH DISTRICTS.

AND WHEN YOU LOOK AT OUR TAPER REPORT FROM 2021 TO 2022, YOU'LL SEE THAT WE WERE 4/10 BELOW THE ONE WHO WAS FIRST IN THE LOWEST TURNOVER RATE. SO AGAIN, SECOND LOWEST TURNOVER RATE BOTH LOCALLY AND BASED ON STATE STATISTICS.

SO IT WAS TOUGH.

IT WAS HARD. THANK YOU AGAIN TO EVERYBODY WHO STAYED DURING THESE TOUGH TIMES.

BUT JUST KNOW.

SECOND LOWEST.

ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU.

THE FLOOR IS YOURS. THANK YOU.

GOOD EVENING, MADAM PRESIDENT.

DR. WALDRIP AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.

I'M KELLY MORSE, AND I'M A PROUD ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AT BRIGHT ACADEMY.

TONIGHT, I WANT TO PUBLICLY EXTEND A SINCERE THANK YOU TO OUR FRISCO ISD DISTRICT LEADERSHIP FOR THEIR GUIDANCE, PARTNERSHIP AND UTMOST SUPPORT DURING OUR RECENT CAMPUS EMERGENCY.

ON APRIL 11TH, WE HAD A FLOOD.

FEW PEOPLE HAVE MENTIONED THAT ALL OF OUR TOILETS ON OUR CAMPUS AND EVERY BATHROOM OVERFLOWED AT THE SAME TIME.

SOMETHING THAT HASN'T BEEN MENTIONED YET IS THAT WAS DURING KINDER AND FIRST GRADE LUNCH.

SO AS A CAMPUS ADMINISTRATOR, MY FIRST AND FOREMOST IMPORTANT ACTION WAS TO IMMEDIATELY ENSURE THE SAFETY OF ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF.

I WANT TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO MR JOHN BODI FOR DEVELOPING A STANDARDIZED RESPONSE PROTOCOL THAT ENABLED OUR ADMIN TEAM TO TAKE IMMEDIATE AND SWIFT ACTION IN PUTTING OUR CAMPUS ON HOLD WHILE WE CALLED OUR INCIDENT NOTIFICATION LINE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT AND CHECKED ON STUDENTS.

WITHIN MINUTES, ADDITIONAL CUSTODIANS AND MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT STAFF WERE AT BRIGHT TO HELP.

ELEMENTARY DIRECTORS, MISS JACKSON, MISS DODD, DR.

[00:35:02]

DAVIS AND DR. BENNETT WERE NEXT TO ARRIVE TO HELP SUPPORT THE DECISION AS TO WHETHER WE DISMISS EARLY OR CONTINUE THE LEARNING FOR THE DAY.

AND OF COURSE, WE DID EARLY DISMISSAL.

THEY HELPED DRAFT COMMUNICATION TO OUR FAMILIES.

DR. FIORE, MISS ELLIS, MISS SANTIAGO AND MR MEN WERE WONDERFUL THINKING PARTNERS AS WE WALKED THROUGH OUR LOGISTICS PLAN TO ENSURE THAT ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF KNEW EXACTLY WHERE TO GO. AND MISS DYNETTE DAVIS CAME TO HELP ANSWER THE PHONES, CHECK ON STUDENTS AND HELPED WITH DISMISSAL AND REALLY ANYTHING THAT WE NEEDED.

AND TRULY, THIS WAS AN ALL HANDS IN EFFORT BY EVERY DISTRICT DEPARTMENT, ALL THE WAY DOWN TO EVERY SINGLE BRIGHT ACADEMY TEACHER.

WE EVEN JOKED.

BUT IT'S REALLY TRUE.

OUR LEADERSHIP STAFF WAS EITHER ON OUR CAMPUS OR ON THE PHONE, HELPING TO SUPPORT THE LEVEL OF COLLABORATION AND SUPPORT THAT WE EXPERIENCED ON THIS DAY IS THE REASON I HAVE CALLED FRISCO ISD HOME FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO.

THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS HAVING SYSTEMS IN PLACE THAT KEEP ALL OF US SAFE.

THANK YOU. MONICA RUSSO, FOLLOWED BY KEITH GROTE AND THEN SHANNON AYRES.

GOOD EVENING. THANK YOU FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY TO ADDRESS THE BOARD AS A FRISCO TAXPAYER AND RESIDENT.

I'LL ADMIT I HAVEN'T ALWAYS PAID CLOSE ENOUGH ATTENTION TO THE ACTIONS OF THE BOARD IN DISTRICT NEEDS AND EVENTS IN PRIOR YEARS.

I AM NOW TRYING TO CORRECT THAT LACK, EVEN WATCHING PRIOR BOARD MEETINGS TO GET ON VIDEO TO GET UP TO SPEED.

FIRST, I'D LIKE TO COMMEND THE BOARD AS THE REGULARLY SCHEDULED MEETING.

EARLIER THIS MONTH WAS FANTASTIC.

IT WAS RELATIVELY DRAMA FREE AND FOCUSED SO MUCH ON CELEBRATING THE MANY ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF OUR FISD STUDENTS.

I'M SO GLAD TO SEE THE BOARD PUTTING STUDENTS AND STAFF AT THE CENTER AND FOCUSING ON THEM.

NEXT, I'D LIKE TO THANK OUR BOARD MEMBERS WHO SHOW UP TO SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS IN SCHOOLS AT VARIOUS ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT.

ONE EXAMPLE.

BOARD MEMBERS JOHN DEBBIE AND DYNETTE.

THANK YOU FOR MAKING SURE ALL OF OUR STUDENTS FEEL SEEN AND IMPORTANT.

GOING OUT TO THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS TRACK AND FIELD MEET JUST THIS PAST FRIDAY.

AS A BOARD, IT'S SO IMPORTANT TO THINK ABOUT ALL OF OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF AND NOT PARTICULAR INTERESTS.

THAT BRINGS ME TO MY NEXT POINT.

LOTS OF MONEY IS BEING SPENT BY PEOPLE AND ENTITIES OUTSIDE OF OUR DISTRICT IN THIS UPCOMING ELECTION.

NUMEROUS FLIERS HAVE BEEN SENT OUT ON BEHALF OF TWO CANDIDATES.

SPECIFICALLY, FLIERS AND MONEY MEAN NOTHING IN TERMS OF PICKING THE BEST CANDIDATE.

WE MUST LOOK AT THE CANDIDATES FOR WHAT THEY ENDORSE, STAND FOR, AND WILL BRING TO THE BOARD.

ARE WE FOR KIDS OR ARE WE FOR CHAOS? I SAY WE FOCUS ON KIDS AND CUT OUT ALL OF THE CHAOS, POLITICS AND PARTIZAN DRAMA.

FOR ANYONE WHO CAN HEAR MY VOICE, I'D LIKE TO ENCOURAGE YOU TO DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH.

ASK YOUR STUDENTS, TEACHERS, COUNSELORS AND STAFF WHO THEY SUPPORT IN THIS ELECTION.

I PROUDLY SUPPORT DYNETTE DAVIS AND MARK HILL, AND I WELCOME ANYONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO HAVE CONVERSATIONS ABOUT WHY.

LET'S GET BACK TO THE BUSINESS OF EDUCATING STUDENTS, SUPPORTING TEACHERS AND STAFF IN MAKING FRISCO ISD THE BEST DISTRICT IN TEXAS.

THANK YOU.

GOOD EVENING. I'M KEITH GROAT AND I WANT TO TALK ABOUT A FEW MEETINGS AGO IN A BOARD MEETING.

TRUSTEE ELAD QUESTIONED THE COST OF A WORK PROPOSAL FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL CAFETERIAS.

SHE'D ONLY GOTTEN THAT INFORMATION A FEW DAYS BEFORE, AND SHE COULDN'T DO PROPER RESEARCH ON THAT AND ASK QUESTIONS, NOT AREA OF EXPERTISE.

I DOUBT IT'S AN AREA OF EXPERTISE FOR ANYBODY IN THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

I'D LIKE TO PROPOSE TO HELP THAT SITUATION OUT TOO, AND I DON'T BELIEVE THIS IS EVEN A PART OF YOUR PROCESS.

IT MAY BE, BUT YOU SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE AN INTERNAL COST ESTIMATE PERFORMED BEFORE YOU DO A QUOTE.

YOU SHOULD HAVE THREE QUOTATIONS, NOT JUST ONE.

YOU SHOULD REQUIRE THAT MAYBE TWO WEEKS NOTICE BEFORE YOU GET THIS SO YOU CAN DO YOUR OWN INVESTIGATION RATHER THAN HAVING A COUPLE OF DAYS.

AND YOU SHOULD HAVE A STATEMENT THAT JUSTIFIES THE PROPOSED ACTIVITY, AND I'LL COME TO THAT LATER.

ONE OF THE ITEMS THAT I NOTED ON THE MARCH 6TH MEETING, THE AREA OF EXPERTISE OF MINE IS HVAC CONTRACTING, WHERE HCRC TEST, BALANCE AND COMMISSIONING FOR RIDDLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, BOLLES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND WHATNOT.

SO I REQUESTED A FOIA FOR THAT.

THE AMOUNT STATED IN MARCH WAS $133,000 FOR THAT TEST.

FOR THAT ITEM. THAT LOOKED WAY OUT OF LINE TO ME, WAY OUT OF LINE.

SO I ASKED FOIA FOR THAT AND I GOT NOT FOR 2022, I GOT THE SAME ITEM FOR 2023.

TESTING, BALANCING AND COMMISSIONING THOSE SAME SCHOOLS.

[00:40:04]

SO JUST I'M NOT GOING TO GO THROUGH THE DETAILS OF IT.

BUT FOR MY EXPERTISE, IT LOOKS REALLY OUT OF LINE JUST TO MAKE A POINT.

YOU'RE PAYING $9,300 FOR A REPORT.

$18,600 FOR DDC COSTS, WHICH IS PROBABLY ANOTHER REPORT.

THAT'S PROBABLY $27,000 JUST FOR THAT ONE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

IT WAS RIDDLE. IN THIS CASE, IT'S THE SAME ACCOUNT FOR BOWLES.

HOW MUCH COULD THAT MONEY BE USED TO GIVE TEACHERS BONUSES, EQUIPMENT, WHAT THEY NEED JUST FOR THAT SCHOOL? WE'D HAVE AN EXTRA $27,000 BASED ON PAYING FOR REPORT.

IN MY YEARS IN INDUSTRY, I'VE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO CHARGE A CUSTOMER FOR A REPORT.

THAT'S JUST NONSENSE.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

SHANNON ERRORS FOLLOWED BY MEG READ AND THEN PRAMOD.

NATALIA. ON HANDOUT.

HOW DO I DO THAT? MICHELE.

OKAY, SO MY NAME IS SHANNON AYERS AND I'M THE COLLIN COUNTY EDUCATION DIVISION.

LEAD FOR CITIZENS DEFENDING FREEDOM OR CDF? I'M HERE TO FOLLOW UP ON AN EMAIL THAT I SENT TO EACH OF YOU REGARDING THE RECENT PROPOSED RULE CHANGE TO TITLE NINE THAT BROADENS ITS LANGUAGE TO INCLUDE SEXUAL ORIENTATION AND SEXUAL OR GENDER IDENTITY.

EXCUSE ME. AS STATED IN MY EMAIL, THIS UNDERMINES FEDERAL LAW AND A LEGISLATIVE AUTHORITY OF THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS.

WHILE SOME ORGANIZATIONS HAVE FOLLOWED THE MISLEADING GUIDANCE OF THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION'S 2021 NOTICE OF INTERPRETATION FOLLOWING PRESIDENT BIDEN'S EXECUTIVE ORDER ON THE SUPREME COURT RULING IN BOSTOCK V CLAYTON COUNTY, BOTH HAVE BEEN SIGNIFICANTLY MISINTERPRETED AS IT WAS MADE CLEAR BY THE COURT THAT THE LATTER WAS A TITLE SEVEN ISSUE THAT DID NOT APPLY TO TITLE NINE OR ANY OTHER LAW.

THE SUPREME COURT IN BOSTIC EMPHASIZED THAT SEX BASED EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION CONSISTENT WITH TITLE SEVEN WAS UNCONSTITUTIONAL, BUT EXPLICITLY REFRAINED FROM APPLYING THE RULING TO TITLE NINE.

AS SUCH, THIS RENDERS THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION'S NOI AND THE EXECUTIVE ORDER NULL BECAUSE IT EXPRESSLY CONTRADICTS SUPREME COURT PRECEDENT.

IF THIS WASN'T ENOUGH, THERE HAVE BEEN A HANDFUL OF CASES FURTHER DEMONSTRATING THE INAPPLICABILITY OF THE BOSTIC RULING TO TITLE NINE ISSUES.

THIS INCLUDES A RECENT RULING OUT OF A FEDERAL DISTRICT COURT ISSUING A PRELIMINARY INJUNCTION BARRING THE EXECUTION OF THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION'S NOI AND EXECUTIVE ORDER FROM TAKING EFFECT IN 20 STATES, INCLUDING ARKANSAS AND OKLAHOMA.

SEPARATELY, A FEDERAL DISTRICT COURT IN TEXAS AFFIRMED THAT SEXUAL ORIENTATION AND GENDER IDENTITY ARE NOT PROTECTED CATEGORIES BECAUSE TITLE NINE MUST BE READ IN THE ORIGINAL CONTEXT IN WHICH IT WAS DRAFTED IN 1972, WHERE SEX WAS UNDERSTOOD TO BE BIOLOGICAL AND BINARY.

A FEDERAL APPELLATE COURT COVERING FLORIDA, GEORGIA AND ALABAMA JURISDICTIONS ALSO FOUND THIS TO BE TRUE, RULING THAT A LOCAL SCHOOL BOARD'S BATHROOM POLICY DID NOT VIOLATE TITLE NINE BECAUSE TITLE NINE CONFORMS TO AN UNDERSTANDING OF SEX CONSISTENT WITH SOCIETAL UNDERSTANDING OF SEX AT THE TIME OF ITS DRAFTING.

THIS KIND OF RULE CHANGE REQUIRES A PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD, WHICH WE ARE IN RIGHT NOW.

AS STATED IN MY EMAIL THAT I SENT YOU, THE ADOPTION OF THIS CHANGE WILL HAVE DEVASTATING EFFECTS ON WOMEN AND GIRLS ATHLETICS.

SO I'M HERE TO PUBLICLY AND STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU, EACH OF YOU AND EVERYONE LISTENING TO GO TO CITIZENS DEFENDING FREEDOM.COM/PROTECT CHILDREN BEFORE THE DEADLINE OF MAY 15TH FOR THE LINK TO THE FEDERAL REGISTER WHERE YOU CAN PROVIDE MEANINGFUL INPUT ON THIS TOPIC.

NOT COMMENTING IS IN AND OF ITSELF A COMMENT AND WILL BE NOTED.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

MEG READ, FOLLOWED BY PRAMOD, NATALIA AND DESIREE DAWSON.

I'VE HAD IT WITH A SMALL GROUP OF POLITICALLY POWERFUL PEOPLE TELLING THE REST OF US HOW TO LIVE OUR RIGHT, TO LIVE OUR OWN LIVES AS WE SEE FIT, AS LONG AS WE DON'T HURT ANYONE ELSE IS FUNDAMENTAL.

BUT NOW ALL Y'ALL LOW ELOD NOW BOND AND KERSHAW HAVE DECIDED THAT PARENTAL RIGHTS MEANS YOUR PARENTAL RIGHTS TO THE EXCLUSION OF MINE.

NOW, IF YOU WANT YOUR KID TO READ A PARTICULAR DON'T WANT YOUR KID TO READ A PARTICULAR BOOK, NOBODY ELSE GETS TO READ IT.

IF ALL THE HOURS YOUR KID SPENDS AWAY FROM SCHOOL ISN'T ENOUGH TO INCULCATE YOUR RELIGION, THEN ALL KIDS WILL HAVE MANDATORY PRAYER AND TEN COMMANDMENTS IN EVERY

[00:45:09]

CLASSROOM. YEAH, THOSE ARE TWO BILLS THAT ARE ACTUALLY DOING WELL IN THE TEXAS LEGISLATURE AS WE SPEAK.

ASIDE FROM ESTABLISHING A STATE RELIGION, WHICH YOU MAY RECALL IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL, YOU'D PITCH A FIT IF A NON-CHRISTIAN RELIGION TRIED TO DO THAT.

SO STOP IT.

IF YOU THINK LGBTQ PEOPLE ARE DEVIANT, THAT'S SAD.

BUT IT'S YOUR RIGHT.

YOU DON'T GET TO TRY TO ERASE THEIR EXISTENCE RIGHT NOW.

YOU SAY YOU JUST WANT THEM TO USE THE BATHROOM YOU DEEM APPROPRIATE AND FOR TRANS GIRLS NOT TO PLAY GIRLS SPORTS.

BUT WE KNOW THAT'S JUST THE BEGINNING.

OTHER CHRISTIAN NATIONALISTS HAVE SAID THE QUIET PART OUT LOUD.

THE END GAME IS TO ROLL BACK ALL LGBTQ RIGHTS.

I DON'T GET IT.

THEY AREN'T HURTING YOU AT ALL.

YOUR KID IS AT STATISTICALLY ZERO RISK OF BEING ASSAULTED BY A TRANS KID IN A BATHROOM, YET YOU ACT LIKE IT'S A PERVASIVE THREAT.

AS FOR BOOKS ABOUT LGBTQ FOLKS, KEEP THEM AWAY FROM YOUR KIDS AND STOP THE HYSTERIA.

WHEN I'VE TRIED TO DISCUSS THIS WITH MR. LOWE AND MS. KERSHAW.

THEY BOTH RAISED THEIR VOICES, CUT ME OFF, AND STARTED FROTHING ABOUT THEIR FAVORITE LAMINATED EXAMPLE OF PORNOGRAPHY.

HOW ABOUT WE STOP FREAKING OUT ABOUT WHAT DO I SAY IF LITTLE JOHNNY ASKS ME WHAT? INSERT YOUR FAVORITE PORN EXAMPLE HERE AND HANDLE IT THE WAY YOU HANDLE ALL DIFFICULT QUESTIONS.

WHAT ARE TRUCK NUTS? MOM? HOW DOES THE BABY GET IN THERE ANYWAY? WHY DO. HOW ABOUT THIS ONE? HOW DO SO MANY KIDS GET KILLED IN SCHOOL? AM I GOING TO GET KILLED AT SCHOOL? MOM. THERE ARE REAL DANGERS IN THE WORLD.

GUN VIOLENCE IS NOW THE LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH FOR KIDS THROUGH AGE 18.

BUT LGBTQ KIDS ARE JUST TRYING TO LIVE THEIR LIVES, AND THAT IS NOT ONE OF THE DANGERS.

YOUR ENTIRE MO THESE DAYS IS BUILT ON FEAR.

CRT HAS NEVER BEEN TAUGHT BELOW THE COLLEGE LEVEL, BUT NOW IT'S CODE FOR ANY HISTORY THAT MAKES YOUR KID FEEL BAD.

SLAVERY AND JIM CROW SHOULD MAKE YOUR KIDS FEEL BAD, BUT NOT ABOUT THEMSELVES.

GERMAN KIDS LEARN THEIR PAINFUL HISTORY AND THEY'RE BETTER FOR IT.

TEACH IT ALL, INCLUDING THE GOOD PARTS ABOUT ABOLITIONISTS AND CIVIL RIGHTS LEADERS.

TEACH YOUR CHILDREN YOUR RELIGION.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. AND CHURCH.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR FORCING YOUR BELIEFS ON THE REST OF US.

THANK YOU.

PRAMOD NATALIA, FOLLOWED BY DESIREE DAWSON AND THEN [INAUDIBLE].

GIVE US A SECOND. SORRY.

SURE. YOU HAVE A LITTLE SHOW AND TELL.

I'M SO EXCITED. WE WERE WONDERING WHAT THAT WAS.

YEAH.[INAUDIBLE] NO, YOU SHOULD BE GOOD.

DON'T WORRY. HOPEFULLY.

COULD IT. CAN IT FIX THE WOOD FLOORS DOWN THERE? I WISH. OKAY, WELL, MAYBE NEXT TIME.

YEAH. OKAY. HELLO, FISD BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

MY NAME IS PERNIL SETH.

MY NAME IS NIKHIL TALAPADY AND MY NAME IS PRAMODA TALLO.

WE ARE SENIORS OF INDEPENDENCE HIGH SCHOOL AND WE ARE THE CAPTAINS OF OUR SCHOOL'S CURRICULAR ROBOTICS CLUB FOR THE FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION, WHICH IS AN INTERNATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL ROBOTICS COMPETITION.

EACH YEAR, TEAMS OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS LIKE US WORK DURING A SIX WEEK PERIOD TO BUILD ROBOTS CAPABLE OF COMPETING IN THAT YEAR'S GAME.

OUR TEAM'S MISSION IS TO ENCOURAGE THE PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF STEM SKILLS IN OUR COMMUNITY.

FOR EXAMPLE, THIS YEAR OUR TEAM HAD FIVE SENIORS AND 30 FRESHMEN ON OUR TEAM.

IF YOU GUYS HAVE MORE QUESTIONS ABOUT THAT, WE CAN ANSWER THEM LATER.

SO WE ENDED UP SPENDING A MAJORITY OF OUR SCHOOL YEAR TEACHING WORKSHOPS ON PROGRAMING, ENGINEERING AND CAD DESIGN TO HELP THESE KIDS DEVELOP THE SKILLS THEY NEEDED TO BOTH PARTICIPATE IN THIS YEAR'S COMPETITION AND TEACH THE NEXT YEAR OF STUDENTS.

THROUGH OUR WORK THIS PAST YEAR, EACH KID ON OUR TEAM WAS ABLE TO FIND A NEW COMMUNITY WITHIN THE SCHOOL AND AN EVEN BIGGER COMMUNITY THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE WORLD.

THROUGH THE FRC PROGRAM THIS YEAR, WE WERE ABLE TO ENGAGE WITH TEAMS FROM ALL OVER THE US AND EVEN ENGAGE WITH TEAMS FROM BIG COMPANIES LIKE NASA, BOEING AND LOCKHEED MARTIN.

OVER THE PAST SIX YEARS, OUR TEAM HAS MADE IT TO THE WORLD LEVEL COMPETITION, WON STATE LEVEL AWARDS AND RECEIVED SPONSORSHIP FROM COMPANIES LIKE NASA AND LOCKHEED MARTIN, ALL WHILE WORKING WITH LIMITED RESOURCES, SPACE AND SCHOOL SUPPORT, WHICH IS WHAT WE WE'RE HERE TODAY TO DISCUSS.

WE'RE HERE TODAY TO REQUEST TWO THINGS DISTRICT FUNDING FOR OUR YEARLY REGISTRATION COSTS AND DISTRICT SUPPORT WITH THE SPACE TO WORK OUT OF IN THE CTE CENTER FOR OUR TEAM.

OVER THE PAST SIX YEARS THAT WE HAVE BEEN A TEAM, WE'VE WORKED OUT OF TWO CAR GARAGES AND ONE CAR GARAGE SPACES WHICH HAVE SIGNIFICANTLY HINDERED OUR PERFORMANCE IN COMPETITION DUE TO NOT HAVING ENOUGH SPACE TO ACTUALLY BUILD THE ROBOT.

WE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A SPACE IN THE CT CENTER SIMILAR TO HOW ALLEN ISD PROVIDES A SPACE IN THEIR STEAM CENTER FOR OUR FRC TEAM TO BUILD, LEARN AND PRACTICE OUT OF.

[00:50:09]

THIS IS GOING TO INVOLVE AFTER OUR 3 TO 4 HOURS AFTER SCHOOL FOR US, OUR TEAM TO BE ABLE TO BE IN THE CT CENTER AS WELL AS 3 TO 4 HOURS EVERY WEEKEND FOR THE STUDENTS TO BE IN THE CT CENTER DURING.

SORRY, DURING THE BUILD SEASON IN SIX WEEKS OF THE SECOND SEMESTER.

WE WOULD LIKE TO FINISH WITH OUR ULTIMATE VISION FOR THE FUTURE OF FRC IN FISD, WE ENVISION A WORLD WHERE EACH FRISCO HIGH SCHOOL HAS A TEAM OF DIVERSE INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATING IN THIS ROBOTICS COMPETITION, LEARNING AND GROWING AS PEOPLE THROUGH THE STEM PROGRAM THAT NOT ONLY TEACHES THEM APPLICATION BASED STEM SKILLS AND HELPS THEM BUILD REAL WORLD CONNECTIONS, BUT ALSO INSPIRES THEM TO PURSUE A CAREER IN STEM IN THE FUTURE.

YEAH. NEXT, ONE WAY WE CAN GET STARTED WITH THIS PROCESS IS BY LOOKING AT SIMILAR DISTRICTS LIKE RICHARDSON ISD.

DURING OUR COMPETITION THIS PAST YEAR, WE MET RICHARDSON ISD'S TEAM.

THEY START LIKE US WITH ONE FRC TEAM IN THE ENTIRE DISTRICT, AND NOW THEY HAVE AN FRC TEAM IN EVERY HIGH SCHOOL, AN FTC TEAM IN EVERY MIDDLE SCHOOL, AND AN FLL TEAM IN EVERY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, WHICH IS LIKE THE LOWER AND YOUR YOUTH LEAGUES LOOKING AT TEMPLATE THAT SCHOOLS LIKE THEM HAVE PROVIDED.

WE THINK IT'S A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR FISD TO INVEST IN THE ROBOTICS TODAY TO HELP THE STEM FOR THE FUTURE.

WE UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS GOING TO BE SOMETHING THAT IS GOING TO TAKE A COUPLE OF YEARS TO GO THROUGH.

SO WE'RE HERE TO GET THIS PROCESS STARTED, TO HAVE OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS HAVE THIS OPPORTUNITY.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

THANK YOU. OH, YEAH.

AND IF ANYONE WANTS TO TALK ABOUT OUR ROBOT, WE'LL BE OVER THERE AT THE END OF THE MEETING.

YOU CAN ASK US QUESTIONS IF YOU WANT.

AWESOME. THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH.

THANK YOU ALL AND THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THE BOTS.

I HAVE A LOT OF QUESTIONS, SO I'LL COME AND SEE YOU AFTER THE MEETING.

DESIREE DAWSON FOLLOWED BY NIKITA NAKANISHI AND THEN AISHA VAHIA.

HI. THANKS FOR LETTING ME HAVE MY VOICE HEARD TONIGHT.

LIKE YOU SAID, MY NAME IS DESIREE DAWSON, AND THIS IS REALLY A PERSONAL ACCOUNT OF MY EMPLOYMENT AND MY EXPERIENCE IN FRISCO AS OF RECENTLY. BUT FIRST I WANTED TO SAY I'M A PARENT OF A FRISCO ISD HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT, A TAXPAYER, A VOTER, VOTED TODAY.

AND I AM A FORMER EMPLOYEE AS OF MARCH 9TH OF THIS YEAR.

I'LL GET BACK TO WHY I'M NO LONGER AN EMPLOYEE IN JUST A SECOND.

I STARTED OUT AS A SUBSTITUTE IN FRISCO BECAUSE I WANTED TO HELP IN OUR DISTRICT, ESPECIALLY POST COVID.

I WANTED TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE KIDS LIVES.

I WANTED TO SEE BEHIND THE SCENES OF WHAT OUR WONDERFUL TEACHERS AND STAFF DO EVERY DAY.

SHORTLY AFTER SUBBING, I WAS OFFERED A POSITION AND HIRED ON IN FRISCO ISD AT A MIDDLE SCHOOL AS A PARAPROFESSIONAL IN A SPED CENTRALIZED PROGRAM. I KNEW I COULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

I HAVE A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART FOR SPED KIDS ESPECIALLY.

I KNOW I DID MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN ALL OF THESE AMAZING STUDENTS THAT I INTERACTED WITH ON A DAILY BASIS, IF ONLY FOR A YEAR AND A HALF.

WHY AM I A FORMER EMPLOYEE? IN MY RESIGNATION LETTER TO MY PRINCIPAL, I STATED THAT I NO LONGER FELT SAFE IN MY WORK ENVIRONMENT.

TO THIS DAY, IT REALLY BREAKS MY HEART THAT I HAD TO LEAVE.

IT BROKE MY HEART TO LEAVE MY STUDENTS WHO I HAD BUILT A HUGE RAPPORT WITH THOSE WHO HAD TRUST IN ME.

BUT OVERALL, MY SAFETY CONCERNS WERE SIMPLY TOO OVERWHELMING ON A DAILY BASIS, AND THEY BEGAN TO HINDER HOW I FELT ON A DAILY BASIS, HOW THE TEACHERS AND MY COWORKERS AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, STUDENT, MY STUDENTS AND THEIR FELLOW CLASSMATES OF OTHERS IN MY PROGRAM WERE TREATED.

EVERYONE'S SAFETY CONCERNS SHOULD BE PARAMOUNT.

I'VE SEEN TEACHERS AND STAFF, UNFORTUNATELY MISTREATED, SPIT ON, CURSED AT HIT, AND WHEN ALL THESE TEACHERS WANT TO DO IS MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THEIR STUDENTS LIVES.

MY POINT IN SPEAKING HERE TONIGHT IS I WANT ALL STUDENTS TO FEEL SAFE, PERIOD.

I KNOW WE ALL WANT THE BEST FOR OUR TEACHERS, AND I KNOW WE ALL WANT THE BEST FOR OUR STUDENTS.

THAT'S WHAT WE'RE HERE FOR, ESPECIALLY FOR OUR STUDENTS TO FEEL SAFE AND SECURE IN THEIR LEARNING ENVIRONMENT.

I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING CHANGES MADE TO ONLY HELP EVERY SINGLE STUDENT BE PRODUCTIVE CITIZENS ONCE THEY LEAVE FRISCO ISD.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

[00:55:07]

GOOD EVENING, MEMBERS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD.

MY NAME IS NISHEENA CONTI AND I'M A 10TH GRADE STUDENT AT PANTHER CREEK HIGH SCHOOL HERE TO SPEAK TO YOU ONCE AGAIN ABOUT THE UNFORTUNATE LACK OF TITLE NINE ACCESSIBILITY IN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT. I'M HERE TO DISCUSS THE POSSIBLE CENSORSHIP OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT OCCURRING IN DIGITAL MATERIALS AND COMMUNICATIONS FOR K THROUGH 12 STUDENTS IN FISD.

RECENTLY, AS I WAS EMAILING OUR DISTRICT'S TITLE NINE COORDINATOR WHOSE EMAIL I HAD TO FIND BY EMAILING HR SINCE IT WAS NOT LISTED ON THE FISD WEBSITE, I DIDN'T RECEIVE A RESPONSE FOR ALMOST TWO WEEKS BEFORE I CHOSE TO SEND A FOLLOW UP EMAIL AND THEN PROMPTLY RECEIVED AN AUTOMATED RESPONSE SAYING THAT IT HAD BEEN BLOCKED WHEN I SENT EMAILS REFERRING TO SEXUAL HARASSMENT.

THE FISD SYSTEM BLOCKS OUR EMAILS.

THIS IS DANGEROUS AND HIGHLY CONCERNING FOR A NUMBER OF REASONS, BUT TO START, IT'S AN OBVIOUS BARRIER IN STUDENTS LOOKING TO REPORT SEXUAL HARASSMENT OR ASSAULT, OR EVEN SEEK SUPPORT FROM FRIENDS AND FACULTY IN REGARDS TO IT.

THIS IS CENSORING THE FREE SPEECH OF STUDENTS AND STAFF TO DISCUSS ISSUES LIKE SEXUAL HARASSMENT, WHICH IS ALREADY A CRITICAL ISSUE IN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT.

I DID EVENTUALLY RECEIVE A RESPONSE FROM OUR TITLE NINE COORDINATOR ON PAPER THROUGH MY HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELOR, WHICH EXPLICITLY SAID, IF YOU OR ANY OTHER STUDENT IS EXPERIENCING SEXUAL HARASSMENT, I URGE YOU TO SEEK OUT YOUR CAMPUS ADMINISTRATOR TO REPORT IN ORDER FOR A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION TO OCCUR.

FIRST OF ALL, WE HAVE CLEARLY EXPRESSED THAT STUDENTS ARE EXPERIENCING SEXUAL HARASSMENT IN FISD AND OFTEN BEING IGNORED.

IN MANY WAYS THAT MAY CONSTITUTE DELIBERATE INDIFFERENCE AND THUS VITALLY VIOLATE TITLE NINE ALREADY.

SO TO TAKE WEEKS TO ADDRESS OUR CONCERNS AND THEN SIMPLY REFER TO US, REFER US TO A SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR BY SAYING IF STUDENTS ARE EXPERIENCING SEXUAL HARASSMENT IS OUTRAGEOUS, WE ARE HERE TODAY BECAUSE SCHOOLS ARE NOT ADDRESSING CASES OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT.

WE WILL NOT BE PLACATED BY LETTERS IMPLYING THAT THERE ISN'T AN ONGOING SEXUAL HARASSMENT CRISIS.

AND WE ARE HERE TO ASK FOR BETTER BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT.

SECOND, I MUST ASK HOW STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO REPORT SEXUAL HARASSMENT IF THEY CAN'T EVEN SEND EMAILS WITH THE TERM SEXUAL HARASSMENT IN THEM.

WELL, WE UNDERSTAND THAT THE PURPOSE OF THE TECHNOLOGY POLICY IS TO PREVENT STUDENTS FROM SHARING SEXUALLY EXPLICIT CONTENT.

SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND SEXUAL ASSAULT ARE NOT INHERENTLY EXPLICIT.

THE KEY WORDS IN THOSE PHRASES ARE HARASSMENT AND ASSAULT.

AND TO BAN THOSE PHRASES SILENCE THE STUDENTS AND IMPLIES THAT WE SHOULD NOT BE DISCUSSING SEXUAL HARASSMENT.

NOT ONLY DOES THIS FURTHER HINDER STUDENTS FROM FILING OFFICIAL REPORTS, BUT THE CURRENT LACK OF TITLE NINE ACCESSIBILITY AND KNOWLEDGE IS VERY CLEARLY EXACERBATED BY SUCH CENSORSHIP. I'M HERE ASKING YOU AS A SCHOOL BOARD TO TAKE ACTION AND ENSURE THAT STUDENTS CAN FREELY SEEK SUPPORT AND FILE OFFICIAL REPORTS IN OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND SEXUAL ASSAULT.

THIS IS BOTH A LEGAL AND ETHICAL IMPERATIVE, AND STUDENTS DESERVE NO LESS.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

THANK YOU, AISHA.

I'M SORRY. I'M. OH, I'M SORRY.

MISS MILLER, DID YOU WANT TO.

OKAY. ALL RIGHT.

GO AHEAD. GOOD EVENING.

MY NAME IS AISHA VIOLA AND I'M A SENIOR AT MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL.

I'M HERE TO SHARE MY CONCERNS AGAIN WITH A LACK OF PROPER SUPPORT FOR SURVIVORS OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND ASSAULT AND FISD HEADLINE OFFICES.

ALONG WITH ANOTHER STUDENT, I WROTE AND SENT EMAILS TO STOP MEMBERS AND ADDITIONALLY FISD TITLE NINE COORDINATOR.

IN THESE EMAILS, WE REQUESTED MEETINGS TO DISCUSS OUR PROPOSAL AND WE SENT A RUTH PROJECT INITIATIVE DOCUMENT CONTAINING SPECIFIC SUGGESTIONS FOR HOW FISD CAN IMPROVE.

IT TOOK WEEKS TO GET A RESPONSE AND WHEN WE DID IT WAS VAGUE, UNHELPFUL AND COMPLETELY IGNORANT OF ISSUES WE'VE BEEN ADVOCATING ABOUT FOR YEARS.

WE'VE ALSO CONTACTED MY PRINCIPAL AT MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL ABOUT PUBLICIZING A POSTER WITH TITLE NINE INFORMATION SEVERAL TIMES, AND I'VE RECEIVED NO RESPONSE, MOST LIKELY DUE TO THE BLOCKING AND CENSORSHIP OF EMAILS.

GIVEN THE GRAVITY OF AN ISSUE LIKE SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND ASSAULT, STUDENTS ARE OWED AN IMMEDIATE, THOROUGH RESPONSE TO THIS CRITICAL ISSUE.

WE HAVE ALREADY SHARED TESTIMONIES OF STUDENTS IN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT WHO HAVE BEEN REPORTED SEXUAL HARASSMENT OR ASSAULT AND HAVE BEEN DIRECTLY IGNORED OR DISMISSED BY SCHOOL STAFF. THIS IS DELIBERATE INDIFFERENCE, WHICH IS THE LEGAL STANDARD FOR VIOLATING TITLE NINE ONE.

ONE INSTANCE THAT I WILL REEMPHASIZE AGAIN HAPPENED TWO YEARS AGO A STUDENT REPORTING SEXUAL HARASSMENT TO A STAFF AT HER SCHOOL THREE TIMES AND STILL RECEIVING NO RESPONSE OR HELP FROM THEIR CAMPUS OR TITLE NINE COORDINATOR, LEAVING HER FACING HER PERPETRATOR CONTINUOUSLY ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS.

DELIBERATE INDIFFERENCE IS CONTINUING TO OCCUR, AND WE'RE ASKING THE SCHOOL DISTRICT TO SINCERELY ACT TO PREVENT MORE OCCURRENCES OF IGNORED SEXUAL HARASSMENT ASSAULT CASES.

AS STUDENTS, WE ARE HERE TO DELIVER STUDENT CONCERNS REVOLVING AROUND SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND FIGHTING FOR THE PROPER PREVENTION RESOURCES TO HELP TAKE PLACE IN ENSURING ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF FEEL SAFE IN THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT.

MY PEERS AND I HAVE SPOKEN AT SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS MULTIPLE TIMES.

WE APPRECIATE YOU TAKING THE TIME TO LISTEN TO US.

HOWEVER, WE URGE YOU, THE SCHOOL BOARD, TO TRULY LISTEN TO THE SUGGESTIONS OF STUDENTS WHO ARE ALREADY DEEPLY IMPACTED BY THE FREQUENCY OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT IN SCHOOLS AND FULFILL STUDENTS RIGHTS TO SCHOOLS THAT SUPPORT THEM WHEN THEY ARE LEGALLY OBLIGATED TO TITLE NONEXISTENCE.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

[01:00:02]

THANK YOU, MISS MILLER.

THANK YOU. I JUST WANTED TO THANK ISHA AND NIKITA AGAIN FOR COMING AND SPEAKING.

THE LAST TIME THEY CAME AND THEY SPOKE, WE DID MEET.

AND AFTER MEETING WITH EACH OF THEM AND GETTING BACK TO THEM, I JUST WANT TO KIND OF THIS IS WHAT WE FOLLOWED UP WITH STUDENT SERVICES AND GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING MET.

AND WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO IS ENSURE THAT ALL STAFF UNDERSTAND THE APPROPRIATE AND EMPATHETIC WAY TO RESPOND TO A STUDENT WHEN THEY REPORT A CONCERN OF POSSIBLE HARASSMENT.

AND THAT'S SOMETHING THAT WE SPOKE OF WITH GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING ABOUT ADDITIONAL TEACHER TRAINING IN AUGUST REVIEW BEGINNING OF THE YEAR, TEACHER TRAINING MATERIALS AND ALSO REVIEW AVAILABLE METHODS OF STUDENTS REPORTING TITLE NINE VIOLATIONS AND AWARENESS OF TITLE NINE.

I LET THE GIRLS KNOW THAT THIS WAS EVERYTHING THAT WE WERE CONSIDERING FOR THE 2324 SCHOOL YEAR.

AND IN ADDITION, WE DO HAVE THE RUTH PROJECT DOCUMENT AND I LET THE TITLE NINE COORDINATOR KNOW THAT WE DO HAVE THAT DOCUMENT, THAT WE'RE REVIEWING IT.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

SHANNON HENDERSON, FOLLOWED BY LINNEA HARTUNIAN, JENNIFER LAZARD.

AND THEN OUR FINAL SPEAKER IS JENNA MASQUELIER.

SHANNON. OKAY.

HELLO. I AM A FRISCO RESIDENT, A PARENT OF TWO FRISCO ISD STUDENTS AT VAUGHAN AND PIONEER, AS WELL AS A LICENSED SPECIALIST IN SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY IN THE DISTRICT OR LSB FOR SHORT.

MANY PEOPLE ARE CONFUSED BY THE OBSCURE TITLE, BUT WHAT WE ARE CALLED IN EVERY OTHER STATE EXCEPT TEXAS AND ARKANSAS ARE SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGISTS THROUGH 3 TO 5 YEARS OF GRADUATE COURSEWORK.

WE ARE TRAINED TO DO MANY OF THE THINGS THAT CROSS MULTIPLE POSITIONS IN THE DISTRICT, BUT OUR PRIMARY ROLE HERE IN FRISCO ISD IS TO COMPLETE SPECIAL EDUCATION EVALUATIONS FOR STUDENTS SUSPECTED OF HAVING ONE OF SEVERAL SPECIAL EDUCATION DISABILITIES EITHER OTHER HEALTH IMPAIRMENT DUE TO ADHD, EMOTIONAL DISTURBANCE OR AUTISM.

IN LIGHT OF THE INCREASES IN MENTAL HEALTH AND BEHAVIOR CONCERNS, I'M SURE IT WOULD COME TO NO SURPRISE TO YOU GUYS THAT WE ARE A VERY BUSY GROUP THESE DAYS.

ALMOST EVERYTHING WE DO IN SPECIAL EDUCATION IS DRIVEN BY FEDERAL LAW CALLED THE INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES ACT, INCLUDING DISABILITY IDENTIFICATION PLANS FOR SUPPORTS AND SERVICES, AS WELL AS DISCIPLINE.

WHILE THERE ARE 13 DIFFERENT DISABILITY CONDITIONS THAT EXIST DURING UNDER IDEA, INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES, LEARNING DISABILITIES AND SPEECH IMPAIRMENTS ARE THE ONES MOST PEOPLE ARE MOST FAMILIAR WITH.

HOWEVER, WE LSPS EVALUATE THE ONES THAT PEOPLE MAY NOT BE AWARE OF WHEN THEY THINK ABOUT SPECIAL ED.

ONES THAT INVOLVE SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL AND BEHAVIORAL CONCERNS.

THE DISABILITY CATEGORY I WANT TO FOCUS ON TONIGHT IS EMOTIONAL DISTURBANCE.

EMOTIONAL DISTURBANCE IS A TERRIBLE NAME THAT NONE OF US LIKE.

BUT MANY FREQUENTLY KNOWN MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS FALL UNDER THIS CATEGORY, SUCH AS ANXIETY, DEPRESSION, BIPOLAR DISORDER, DISRUPTIVE MOOD DYSREGULATION DISORDER, AND OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER, TO NAME A FEW.

TO BE ELIGIBLE, FEDERAL LAW REQUIRES US TO EVALUATE IF THE ISSUES ARE SEEN ACROSS SETTINGS HAVE OCCURRED FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME, AND IF THE ISSUES ARE SO SEVERE, THEY REQUIRE SPECIALIZED INSTRUCTION.

AND A LOT OF THIS THERE'S QUITE A BIT OF DATA COLLECTION THAT OCCURS THAT INVOLVES INTERVIEWING THE PARENTS, TEACHERS, COMPLETING MULTIPLE CLASSROOM OBSERVATIONS, GATHERING, SCORING, INTERPRETING STANDARDIZED DATA, INTERVIEWING THE STUDENTS THEMSELVES, WORKING WITH THEM, DOING DIRECT TESTING.

WE MUST WRITE UP THE RESULTS OF THE EVALUATION IN A WRITTEN REPORT.

I SHARE THIS INFORMATION SO YOU KNOW THAT THE TYPICAL EVALUATION TAKES BETWEEN 12 AND 20 HOURS TO COMPLETE, NOT TO MENTION ALL THE TIME SPENT IN MEETINGS.

WITH THIS BACKGROUND IN MIND, IT BRINGS ME TO THE CRUX OF MY COMMENT.

IT CONCERNS ME THAT THERE IS MISINFORMATION OUT THERE FROM A BOARD CANDIDATE THAT THE DISABILITY CONDITION OF EMOTIONAL DISTURBANCE IS AS EASY TO GET AS A PRESCRIPTION.

IT HAS ALSO BEEN STATED THE ROOT CAUSE CAN BE FROM PARENTS NOT TELLING THEIR TWO YEAR OLD NO AND THAT SOME ARE QUASI CRIMINAL.

I KNOW THERE'S A LOT OF PEOPLE OUT HERE WITH ANXIETY DISORDERS AND DEPRESSION.

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THAT BEING DESCRIBED? NOT ONLY IS IT ERRONEOUS, IT'S FRANKLY INSULTING TO ME, MYSELF OR MYSELF AND MY FELLOW LLSPS WHO SPEND MANY HOURS PER DAY AS WELL AS MANY NIGHTS AND WEEKENDS WORKING TO EVALUATE AND SUPPORT THESE STUDENTS.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. OFTEN AT THE EXPENSE OF OUR OWN FAMILIES.

THANK YOU. GOOD EVENING. PARENTS FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS HAVE EXERCISED OUR FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS TO REDRESS OUR GRIEVANCES.

WE WERE MOCKED AND MALIGNED FOR ADDRESSING THE CURRENT STATE OF OUR FRISCO ISD.

MANY OF US MOVED HERE TO THE LAND OF MILK AND HONEY FOR THIS GREAT PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT.

WE REALLY DID. I DID RESEARCH EVERYTHING, A LOT OF ACCOLADES TO THE DISTRICT OF FRISCO ISD.

IF WE HATED PUBLIC SCHOOLS, WHY WOULD WE MOVE HALFWAY ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO PUT OUR CHILDREN IN THEM?

[01:05:04]

HERE ARE EIGHT REASONS WHY WE SPOKE UP AND WHY WE'VE BEEN SPEAKING AT THE BOARD MEETINGS.

NUMBER ONE, LIMITED PARENT INVOLVEMENT AND TRANSPARENCY ISSUES.

NUMBER TWO, TEACHER RETENTION, BIG CLASS SIZES AND LACK OF SUPPORT OF TEACHERS.

NUMBER THREE, EVER EVOLVING STANDARDS BASED GRADING, EXHAUSTING STUDENTS AND TEACHERS.

NUMBER FOUR, SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING, WHICH ADDS MORE WORK FOR TEACHERS AND STUDENTS WHILE NOT LEADING TO BETTER OUTCOMES.

NUMBER FIVE SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS AND TEACHERS NEEDS ARE NOT BEING MET.

NUMBER SIX, DISCIPLINE AND BOUNDARIES ARE INCONSISTENT, LEADING TO A CULTURE OF BAD BEHAVIOR AND UNSAFE CLASSROOMS, BATHROOMS AND MORE. KIDS ARE AFRAID TO USE THE BATHROOMS AND TEACHERS KNOW IT.

AND IT'S THE LEADERS IN THE SCHOOL KNOW IT.

NUMBER SEVEN IS INAPPROPRIATE MATERIALS IN THE LIBRARY.

SEXUALIZING CHILDREN, CREATING A CULTURE LACKING, LACKING DIGNITY AND RESPECT.

AND NUMBER EIGHT IS WASTEFUL SPENDING.

I THINK STEVE COVERED SOME OF THAT.

WE AS A COMMUNITY OF PARENTS, TEACHERS, STUDENTS AND CONSTITUENTS ARE TIRED OF LEADERS WHO LACK COURAGE, HONESTY, INTEGRITY AND RESPECT.

THIS HAS NEVER BEEN POLITICAL POWER DRIVEN.

IT'S ABOUT THE LOVE OF LEARNING AND GETTING BACK TO THE BASICS.

THE FRISCO ISD THAT ONCE WAS.

WE WANT THAT BACK.

THANK YOU. JENNIFER LAZAAR.

FOLLOWED BY JENNA MRS. SWITCHING CLASSES HERE.

MY NAME IS JENNIFER LAZAAR AND I'VE BEEN A TEACHER IN FRISCO SINCE 2005.

I AM ALSO A PARENT AND A RESIDENT OF FRISCO ISD.

FIRST AND FOREMOST, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR SERVICE AND THE WORK THAT YOU DO EACH DAY IN OUR DISTRICT.

BUT MOST OF ALL, FOR OUR STUDENTS.

IN MY CLASSROOM DAILY, WE HAVE A CLASS MEETING AND WHETHER IT'S TO SHARE OUR SUNSHINE OR CLOUD FOR THE WEEKEND OR LEARN ABOUT OUR MONTHLY CHARACTER TRAITS, I INSTILL IN MY STUDENTS TO BE KIND AND RESPECTFUL TO ONE ANOTHER.

I HAVE WATCHED THE DISTRICT BOARD MEETINGS EVERY SINGLE MONTH BECAUSE I WANTED TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE DYNAMICS TEAMS AND LEADERS, ALL THE PEOPLE WHO MAKE OUR DISTRICT RUN GREAT AS WE ARE ALL WE KNOW THAT IT TAKES A VILLAGE.

I HAVE DEFINITELY LEARNED ABOUT UNPROFESSIONALISM AND WHAT NOT TO DO.

I CAME TO SHARE A SNIPPET OF AN ESSAY WRITTEN BY MY DAUGHTER, LAUREN, WHO IS A SENIOR AT INDEPENDENCE AND A PART OF DR.

WALDRIP DISTRICT ADVISORY COUNCIL, AND SHE WILL BEGIN HER JOURNEY AS AN SMU HUNT SCHOLAR THIS FALL.

ALTHOUGH THERE IS NO DEFINITIVE OUTLINE OF A LEADER, THE BEST LEADERS ARE THOSE WHO ARE GENUINE AND EMBRACE WHO THEY ARE.

A TRUE LEADER CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE BY LISTENING WITH INTENT, BUILDING A CULTURE OF BELONGING, VALUING THE WELL BEING OF OTHERS, BEING TRANSPARENT AND EMPOWERING OTHERS, ALL WHILE BEING ABLE TO RECOGNIZE AND EVOLVE THEIR OWN THINKING.

THEY'RE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THAT THEIR MEASURE OF LEADERSHIP DOES NOT LIE IN WHAT THEY DO FOR THEMSELVES, BUT INSTEAD HOW THEY HAVE DIRECTLY IMPACTED OTHERS.

LEADERSHIP IS A MINDSET FOUNDED ON PERSONAL VALUES.

HOW ONE CHOOSES TO LEAD DIRECTLY IMPACTS THEIR INFLUENCE ON OTHERS.

BEING A LEADER IS A CONSTANT AND CONSCIOUS DECISION TO ACTIVELY SERVE OUTSIDE OF YOURSELF.

A TRUE LEADER IS A LEADER IN EVERYTHING AS THEY ARE AWARE OF WHO THEY ARE AND THE ROLE THAT THEY PLAY IN ALL ASPECTS OF THEIR LIFE.

GOOD LEADERS LEAD.

GREAT LEADERS LEAD BY EXAMPLE.

IT IS HOW YOU INSPIRE AND HELP OTHERS WITH WHOM YOU COME IN CONTACT WITH EVERY DAY.

AND GREAT LEADERS RECOGNIZE AND PROMOTE THE LEADERS OF OTHERS, OFFER GUIDANCE, BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER TO WORK TOWARDS A COMMON GOAL AND TO RECOGNIZE THE POTENTIAL IN OTHERS AND BUILD AWARENESS AROUND ISSUES, ALL WHILE CONTINUING TO LEARN AND CHALLENGE YOURSELF.

LEADERSHIP IS OBTAINING THE RIGHT MINDSET AND ABILITY TO ACTIVELY INFLUENCE AND SERVE THOSE AROUND YOU.

SIMPLY STATED, LEADERSHIP IS AN ACTIVITY, NOT A HIERARCHICAL POSITION.

IT IS WHAT IT IS.

WHAT ONE DOES FOR OTHERS IN COMBINATION WITH WHO YOU ARE AND THE MORALITY THAT YOU STAND FOR.

TO ME, LEADERSHIP IS ABOUT CREATING AN IMPACT.

IT'S ABOUT LEAVING A LEGACY AND WORKING TO MAKE EACH PERSON, PLACE AND PROGRAM BETTER THAN WHEN YOU FIRST FOUND IT.

LEADERS SERVE OTHERS.

I WANTED TO SHARE THIS WITH YOU AS I ASK ALL OF YOU TO REMEMBER THAT WE SHARE ONE COMMON GOAL.

THE STUDENTS.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. THANK YOU.

[01:10:07]

HI THERE. I'M READING ON BEHALF OF A FRIEND OF MINE, A PARENT WHO IS ON THE ROAD.

MY NAME IS TAYLOR COLE AND I AM THE FATHER OF THREE DAUGHTERS, AGES TEN, SEVEN AND SIX, WHO ALL ATTEND ALLEN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

I WANT TO ADDRESS THE LAUGHABLE AND DEMONSTRABLY FALSE NOTION THAT FRISCO ISD IN ITS CURRENT STATE IS TOUGH ON VIOLENCE WITHIN THE SCHOOLS.

MY SEVEN YEAR OLD DAUGHTER EARLIER THIS YEAR WAS STRUCK MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE FACE BY A MALE STUDENT AND THEN KICKED TO THE GROUND.

THAT STUDENT FACED NO DISCIPLINARY ACTION AT ALL, CONFIRMED BY MY DAUGHTER.

HE WAS IN CLASS THE NEXT DAY, BEHAVING TERRIBLY ONCE AGAIN.

THE PART OF THIS THAT IS THE MOST DISTURBING IS THAT WE WEREN'T EVEN NOTIFIED BY THE SCHOOL.

THE ONLY REASON WE FOUND OUT IS BECAUSE MY WIFE WAS AT THE SCHOOL VOLUNTEERING THAT DAY.

I CALLED THE POLICE TO FILE ASSAULT CHARGES AND THE OFFICER TOLD ME THEY WERE FREQUENTLY GETTING CALLS FROM PARENTS WITHIN THE FISD, BUT THEY CAN'T DO MUCH ON THE END.

ON THEIR END IN MOST SITUATIONS.

HE DID, HOWEVER, ENCOURAGE ME TO LOOK UP FRISCO ISD IN DISCIPLINE AND WHAT I FOUND WAS HORRIFYING AND I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE ALL PARENTS TO GOOGLE THIS EXACT PHRASE. FRISCO ISD AND DISCIPLINE AND SHOUT WHAT IS GOING ON FROM THE ROOFTOPS? FRISCO ISD ENGAGES IN THE POLICY OF ACTIVELY CHOOSING NOT TO PUNISH BAD BEHAVIOR OF CERTAIN STUDENTS.

HERE'S A DIRECT QUOTE FROM COMMUNITY IMPACT ARTICLE.

AARON MILLER QUOTE FISD WANTS TO MOVE AWAY FROM THE IDEA OF DISCIPLINE AND FOCUS ON BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT.

THIS MEANS FOCUSING ON RESTORATIVE PRACTICES, TEACHING MOMENTS AND CHANGING BEHAVIOR, BUT NOT PUNISHING STUDENTS.

THIS DISTRICT HAS ALSO BEEN ADDRESSING IMPLICIT BIAS AS PART OF THIS WORK.

END QUOTE.

BACK TO MY DAUGHTER.

LESS THAN A MONTH LATER, THE SAME STUDENT PUSHED HER INTO THE WALL, SCRAPED THE WHOLE ENTIRE SIDE OF HER BODY WITH A VERY VISIBLE WOUND.

I EMAILED A PICTURE OF IT TO THE PRINCIPAL AND AGAIN, NOTHING WAS DONE.

THE PRINCIPAL ALSO FAILED TO TELL ME ABOUT THIS INCIDENT.

I NOTICED IT MYSELF AND SHE SAID, DAD, THAT'S JUST WHAT HE DOES.

SO THESE YOUNG, SWEET, IMPRESSIONABLE CHILDREN SEE THIS BEHAVIOR TOLERATED BY ADULTS, BY THE PEOPLE THEY TRUST IN THE SCHOOLS AND ARE BEING INFLUENCED BY GARBAGE POLICIES IN A TERRIFYING WAY.

A RECENT REPLY TO A CONCERNED PARENT BY MR WALDRIP DR.

WALDRIP WAS LACED WITH PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE, CONDESCENDING PASSAGES AS HE TRIED TO SKIRT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE RISE IN VIOLENCE ACROSS THE FISD.

THE MOST NOTABLE PART OF THE EMAIL IS WHEN HE ASKED THE PARENT TO PROVIDE DATA HERSELF AND NOT PROVIDE A DATABASE WHERE WE, THE PARENTS, CAN SEE THE INCIDENTS THAT THE FISD SHOULD SO PROUDLY.

IF THIS PROGRAM IS WORKING, SHARE WITH US THE PARENTS.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

SO IT IS 743 AND THAT WAS OUR FINAL SPEAKER.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR JOINING US FOR COMMUNITY INPUT TONIGHT.

AND I JUST WANT TO GIVE ANOTHER ROUND OF APPLAUSE TO EVERYONE THAT CAME TO TEAM BRIGHT TO HELP WITH A REALLY TOUGH SITUATION AND BRIGHT ACADEMY.

I MEAN, WE YOU ALL KNOW WE LOVE YOU GUYS.

AND THAT WAS A HORRIFIC SITUATION.

BUT YOU HANDLED IT WITH GRACE AND YOU HANDLED IT WITH THOUGHTFULNESS AND YOU GOT OUR KIDS SAFE AND KEPT OUR STAFF SAFE.

SO CAN WE JUST GIVE ANOTHER ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR TEAM BRIGHT? THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH.

AND WE HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A LOVELY EVENING.
