I'M GOING TO ASK GRACE MCDOWELL, OUR ATHLETIC DIRECTOR FOR FRISCO ISD, TO COME TO THE PODIUM.

AND WHILE SHE IS DOING THAT AND ACTUALLY ALREADY UP THERE AGAINST THE WINDOWS, I JUST WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE WE HAVE QUITE A FEW PRINCIPALS, ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS AND ATHLETIC COORDINATORS AND ASSISTANT ATHLETIC COORDINATOR.

SO THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE TONIGHT.

IT'S ALL YOURS, GRACE.

GOOD EVENING, DR. WALDRIP AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR GIVING US THE OPPORTUNITY TO RECOGNIZE THESE AWESOME STUDENT ATHLETES.

YOU KNOW, THE SPRING HAS CONTINUED TO BE A GREAT ONE FOR FRISCO ISD.

AND TONIGHT WE'RE GOING TO HONOR OUR TEN STATE MEDALISTS, AS WELL AS OUR GIRLS AND BOYS, STATE SOCCER CHAMPIONS.

BUT BEFORE WE BEGIN, I'D LIKE TO ASK ALL THE PARENTS OF SOCCER AND TENNIS STATE MEDALISTS TO PLEASE STAND AND BE ACKNOWLEDGED.

PARENTS. WE WANT TO THANK YOU FOR FOR ALL THE HELP AND SUPPORT THAT YOU GIVE TO YOUR SON AND DAUGHTER, AS WELL AS OUR TEAMS, OUR COACHES AND OUR PROGRAMS. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

SO WE'RE GOING TO START WITH TENNIS, AND OUR TENNIS PROGRAMS ARE SUPER COMPETITIVE.

IF YOU DON'T KNOW A LOT ABOUT OUR TENNIS PROGRAMS, JUST TO GIVE YOU A LITTLE GLIMPSE, LAST FALL OUT OF THE TOP 25, FIVE, EIGHT TENNIS TEAMS IN THE STATE, WE HAD FIVE OF THEM IN FRISCO ISD AND THREE OF THOSE WERE IN THE TOP TEN.

SO VERY COMPETITIVE TENNIS AND WITHIN FRISCO ISD.

AND AS WE MOVE INTO THE SPRING, WE EXPECTED TO HAVE SOME SUCCESS IN OUR REGION.

IN ALL FOUR OF THE REGIONS, THEY ONLY SEND 16 TOTAL TENNIS PLAYERS FROM EACH REGION TO STATE.

16. OUT OF THOSE 16, FRISCO ISD HAD 11.

SO THAT'S PRETTY OUTSTANDING.

SO OVERALL, WE FINISHED WITH FOUR STATE MEDALISTS AND THEIR COACHES ARE GOING TO BE ARE HERE TO INTRODUCE THEM.

AND HE'S GOING TO STEP UP JUST A SECOND.

BUT I'LL START BY INTRODUCING OUR COACHES AND WITH HEAD COACH FROM CENTENNIAL HIGH SCHOOL COACH DOUG FAIR.

THIS IS HIS 20TH YEAR OF EXPERIENCE OF COACHING AND HIS 12TH YEAR IN FRISCO ISD AND HIS FIFTH YEAR AS THE CENTENNIAL HIGH SCHOOL HEAD TENNIS COACH.

SO COACH FAIR.

AFTER. FIRST OF ALL, THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK.

THIS IS AWESOME TO BE RECOGNIZED.

I HAVE A COUPLE OF BOYS.

I HAVE BOYS DOUBLES.

SO I HAVE ARVIND [INAUDIBLE].

AND HE'S GOT A GREAT SMILE AND [INAUDIBLE].

THEY CALL HIM THE DAGGER.

THESE TWO BOYS ARE JUST REALLY REPRESENTS CENTENNIAL AND REPRESENT FISD IN SUCH A GREAT MANNER.

ARVIND IS A JUNIOR AND SHREE IS A SOPHOMORE, SO WE EXPECT TO SEE YOU GUYS NEXT YEAR.

HOPEFULLY, THEY ARE DISTRICT CHAMPIONS.

[00:25:01]

THEY ARE REGIONAL RUNNER UPS, BARELY ALMOST WON REGIONALS AND THEN TOOK THIRD PLACE AT STATE, WHICH IS A GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT TO BE ABLE TO MEDAL.

TO GIVE YOU A LITTLE BIT OF MATH, DON'T DON'T CHECK THE NUMBERS ON THIS.

BUT IT REALLY IS A VERY SPECIAL SITUATION.

WHEN YOU HAVE SOMEBODY QUALIFY FOR STATE AND TENNIS, YOU'RE IN THE LESS THAN ONE PERCENTILE.

SO ABOUT 99 POINT WHATEVER PERCENT IS NOT.

WE'LL NEVER HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET TO STATE.

AND THEN THESE GUYS ARE EVEN MORE EXCLUSIVE COMPANY BY MEDDLING SO SUPER PROUD OF THEM AND EXCITED FOR FOR THEIR RETURN SO THANK YOU AGAIN CONGRATULATIONS.

NEXT UP IS OUR HEAD COACH FROM LIBERTY HIGH SCHOOL, ERIKA DOBSON.

SHE'S COACHED FOR 18 YEARS IN TENNIS TOTAL, BUT HAS BEEN AT LIBERTY HIGH SCHOOL SINCE LIBERTY OPENED 16 YEARS AGO AS THE HEAD TENNIS COACH. YOU'LL NOTICE THAT ONE OF COACH DOBSON'S PLAYERS HAS THE SAME LAST NAME AS HER, AND THAT HAPPENS TO BE BECAUSE IT'S HER DAUGHTER.

SO IT'S PRETTY EXCITING.

PRETTY SPECIAL. COACH THOMPSON.

WELL, I WASN'T GOING TO GET EMOTIONAL, BUT THERE YOU GO.

SO THEY ARE BOTH JUNIORS AND DOBSON AND SANJIV RAO, AND THEY BEGAN PLAYING TOGETHER IN MIDDLE SCHOOL AND THEY WON THE CHAMPIONSHIPS. SORRY.

OH, THANKS, GRACE.

ANYWAY, BUT THEY WENT TO STATE LAST YEAR AS JUNIORS AND THEY GOT THIRD.

AND THIS YEAR THEY THEY WON IT.

THEY WERE DISTRICT, REGIONAL AND STATE CHAMPIONS AND THEY ONLY LOST A TOTAL OF FOUR GAMES AT THE STATE TOURNAMENT.

CONGRATULATIONS. HEY.

NEXT WE HAVE SOCCER, SO WE HAVE TWO STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SOCCER TEAMS TO RECOGNIZE.

NEXT.

SO I'M NOT GOING TO TALK ABOUT THEIR SEASONS.

BUT I DO WANT TO REMIND OUR SHARE TWO THINGS WITH YOU GUYS ABOUT THESE TWO TEAMS. FIRST OF ALL, NEITHER OF THESE TEAMS WERE DISTRICT CHAMPIONS.

Y'ALL THINK ABOUT THAT. THEY WERE STATE CHAMPIONS BUT DID NOT WIN THE DISTRICT.

THAT'S THIS SHOWS THE INCREDIBLE LEVEL OF SOCCER THAT WE HAVE IN OUR DISTRICT AS WELL AS OUR REGION.

AND IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO MAKE IT TO STATE.

BUT TO WIN THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, OBVIOUSLY, IS IS THE PINNACLE.

THE SECOND THING I WANT TO SHARE IS THAT IN THE HISTORY OF THE UIO, THERE'S ONLY BEEN THREE TIMES WHEN THE BOYS AND THE GIRLS FROM THE SAME SCHOOL HAS WON THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE SAME YEAR.

THREE. TWO OF THOSE THREE WAS WAKELAND HIGH SCHOOL.

NOW I'M GOING TO SHARE A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE COACHES WHEN I INTRODUCE THEM, BECAUSE THEY WOULD NEVER SHARE THESE THINGS ABOUT THEMSELVES OR VERY HUMBLE MEN AND AWESOME COACHES AND VERY ACCOMPLISHED.

SO I WANT TO BRAG ON THEM A LITTLE BIT.

SO OUR HEAD SOCCER COACH FROM WAKELAND HIGH SCHOOL, GIRLS SOCCER COACH JIMMY LANKFORD, IS FINISHING HIS 20TH YEAR OF COACHING, 15 YEARS AS A HEAD COACH, AND THE LAST FOUR AT WAKELAND HIGH SCHOOL AS A COACH.

HE HAS MADE SEVEN TRIPS IN THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AND HAS WON THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP FOUR TIMES DURING HIS CAREER.

SO COACH LANKFORD, WOULD YOU LIKE TO SPEAK AND ADDRESS THE GROUP? HOPEFULLY IT'S NOT TOO LOUD.

IT IS DEFINITELY AN HONOR TO BE HERE TO RECOGNIZE THESE GIRLS.

WHAT AN INCREDIBLE YEAR.

THEIR MOTTO THIS YEAR WAS FIND A WAY.

AND IN SO MANY WAYS, THIS YEAR THEY FOUND A WAY.

I DON'T KNOW IF YOU FOLLOWED OUR SEASON, BUT WE ENDED UP SECOND IN DISTRICT.

THEY SAID, YOU KNOW WHAT, IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

WE'RE GOING TO FIND A WAY.

WE GOT INTO THE PLAYOFFS, GET INTO THE REGIONAL TOURNAMENT, FOUND A WAY TO GO TO STATE.

WE GET TO THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP WHEN OUR FIRST SEMIFINAL.

A LOT OF PLAYERS PLAYED. WE FOUND A WAY TO WIN IT INTO THE FINAL.

WE'RE DOWN 2-0.

9 MINUTES TO GO.

THEY FOUND A WAY.

AND THERE ARE STATE CHAMPIONS.

I WOULD BE REMISS IF I DIDN'T THINK MY ASSISTANT COACHES, BUT MOST OF ALL I WANT TO THANK MY SENIORS.

IT'S AN INCREDIBLE GROUP OF SENIORS.

I'VE NEVER HAD ANYTHING LIKE IT.

THEY COME TOGETHER THIS YEAR.

THEY ALL FOUND ROLES.

THEY WERE LEADERS IN THEIR WAY.

AND IT WAS JUST SO MUCH FUN TO WATCH THIS TEAM DEVELOP INTO FRIENDS THAT WILL LAST A LIFETIME.

AND IT WAS LED BY THESE SENIORS.

LEFT A BIG, BIG ROLE FOR YOUR FUTURE TEAMS COMING.

AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO RECOGNIZE THESE GIRLS FOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

[00:30:06]

THIS YEAR WAS INCREDIBLE.

I'M JUST GOING TO LEAVE YOU WITH THIS.

BETWEEN THE BOYS AND GIRLS PROGRAMS. WE BOTH WON. BUT THERE WAS OVER 1000 TEAMS PLAY SOCCER THIS YEAR.

THERE WAS ONLY SIX WEARING THESE MEDALS AND TWO OF THEM ARE HERE TONIGHT.

THANK YOU.

CONGRATULATIONS, LADIES.

SO NEXT WE HAVE OUR HEAD BOYS SOCCER COACH FROM WAKELAND HIGH SCHOOL, ANDY HOLT, WHO'S FINISHING HIS ALSO FINISHING HIS 20TH YEAR OF COACHING.

DURING HIS SIX YEARS AS THE HEAD COACH AT WAKELAND HIGH, HIS TEAMS HAVE MADE FIVE TRIPS TO STATE.

THE ONE SEASON THEY DIDN'T GET TO GO WAS THE YEAR WE DIDN'T HAVE SOCCER.

WE DIDN'T FINISH BECAUSE OF 2020 AND COVID.

HIS TEAMS HAVE WON FOUR STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS.

COACH HOLT, CONGRATULATIONS.

I THANK YOU AGAIN.

I WANT TO THANK COACH ESFANDIARI.

COACH ANDERSON, THESE ARE ASSISTANT COACHES.

COACH ESFANDIARI HAS BEEN HERE SINCE 2007 AND HE'S BEEN A HUGE PART OF THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS THAT HAVE HAPPENED AT WAKELAND.

THESE GUYS ARE OUT HERE THAT STAND BEFORE YOU.

WE HAD LIKE NO OTHER.

WE HAD 22 SENIORS SQUAD THIS YEAR.

MOST USUALLY YOU HAVE ABOUT 12 TO 14.

SO WE HAVE 22 SENIORS, A GROUP THAT FOR ME THEY'VE DONE THREE THINGS.

AND THE THEME OF IT IS WORKED.

YOU KNOW, THEY'VE WORKED ON THEIR CRAFT.

THESE GUYS ARE UNBELIEVABLE SOCCER PLAYERS.

I SAY THAT EVERY YEAR.

GUYS ASK, HOW DO YOU GUYS LIKE WHAT'S THE FORMULA? HOW DO YOU GUYS KEEP GOING BACK? WELL, IT'S BECAUSE WE GOT TALENTED GUYS THAT WORK AND ARE SUPER TALENTED.

AND THEN NUMBER TWO, THEY WORK AS A TEAM.

FOR FOUR YEARS, THESE GUYS HAVE GROWN AND DEVELOPED AND UNDERSTOOD AND REALIZED WHAT TEAMWORK IS.

AND THEY GIVE THEMSELVES TO EACH OTHER.

THEY CELEBRATE. IF YOU WATCH US WHEN WE SCORE A GOAL, IT'S LIKE THEY SCORED A GOAL.

IF YOU'RE SITTING ON THE BENCH, IT'S LIKE THEY SCORED A GOAL.

THEY'RE THERE, THEY ARE EXCITED FOR THEIR TEAMMATES.

AND THEN THE LAST THING.

THESE GUYS HAVE GROWN AS YOUNG MEN.

THEY HAVE WORKED TIRELESSLY TO GROW AS YOUNG MEN.

AND IT'S BEEN A PHENOMENAL FOUR YEARS.

I'VE HAD A LOT OF FUN COACHING.

THESE GUYS, YOU KNOW, SOMETHING THEY ASKED ME ONE TIME, COACH OR WERE YOUR FAVORITE TEAM TO EVER COACH? THIS GROUP IS SPECIAL.

THEY HAVE BEEN A LOT OF FUN AND JUST A GREAT GROUP.

THANK YOU. CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR STATE CHAMPIONS.

THAT'S RIGHT.

CONGRATULATIONS, EVERYBODY.

THAT'S AMAZING. GIVE THEM A MINUTE TO EXIT THE BOARDROOM AND THEN WE'LL MOVE ON TO ITEM FOR DISCUSSION REGARDING PARTNERS AND

[4. Discussion regarding Partners in Education]

EDUCATION. MS. MCCUNE THANK YOU.

I'D LIKE TO INTRODUCE ALISON MILLER, DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY RELATIONS.

DR. WALDRIP PRESIDENT ARCHAMBAULT BOARD ISTE AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS.

I'M ACTUALLY GOING TO RECOGNIZE TWO GROUPS TONIGHT.

SO, DR. WALDRIP, IF YOU AND PRESIDENT ARCHAMBAULT COULD COME UP FOR THE FIRST TIME HERE IN JUST A MINUTE, LET ME READ.

SO YOU'RE NOT STANDING UP THERE TONIGHT? I WOULD LIKE TO RECOGNIZE THE FRISCO ISD BUSINESS INCUBATOR PROGRAM AND OUR VOLUNTEERS.

THIS PROGRAM USES THE INCUBATOR EDU AND ACCELERATOR EDU CURRICULUM AND OFFERS STUDENTS AN AUTHENTIC ENTREPRENEURSHIP EXPERIENCE.

THE PROGRAM TAKES STUDENTS AT FOUR FRISCO ISD HIGH SCHOOL CENTENNIAL, FRISCO HERITAGE AND LONE STAR.

THROUGH THE PROCESS OF TURNING A BUSINESS IDEA INTO AN ACTUAL PITCH INCUBATOR EDU PROVIDES CURRICULUM, RESOURCES AND TRAINING TO SUPPORT AN ALREADY EXISTING ENTREPRENEURSHIP COURSE OFFERED AT ALL FISD HIGH SCHOOLS FOR STUDENTS IN GRADES TEN THROUGH 12.

THE PROGRAM TRANSFORMS THE TRADITIONAL HIGH SCHOOL CLASSROOM INTO A PLACE OF COLLABORATION AND PRACTICAL, PROJECT BASED LEARNING.

[00:35:02]

REAL ENTREPRENEURS AND BUSINESS EXPERTS SERVE AS VOLUNTEER COACHES AND MENTORS, GUIDING STUDENT TEAMS THROUGH THE PROCESS OF DEVELOPING HYPOTHESIS ABOUT A BUSINESS CONCEPT, TESTING THOSE HYPOTHESES, ADAPTING AND CONTINUALLY LEARNING AND IMPROVING.

THE PRIMARY FOCUS OF THIS COURSE IS TO HELP STUDENTS UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS OF ANALYZING A BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, PREPARING A BUSINESS PLAN, DETERMINING FEASIBILITY OF AN IDEA, USING RESEARCH AND DEVELOPING A PLAN TO ORGANIZE AND PROMOTE THE BUSINESS AND ITS PRODUCTS AND SERVICES.

THIS PROGRAM REQUIRES A GREAT NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS WORKING WITH OUR STUDENTS TO MAKE BOTH THE STUDENT AND THE PROGRAM SUCCESSFUL.

ON APRIL 28TH, FISD BUSINESS INCUBATOR HELD ITS FINAL PITCH NIGHT.

OUR STUDENTS WOULD HAVE NEVER GOTTEN THIS FAR WITHOUT THE AMAZING VOLUNTEERS GIVING MANY HOURS OF THEIR TIME THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AS COACHES, MENTORS, SHARKS AND COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS. THANKS TO THE FRISCO EDUCATION FOUNDATION, WHO SERVES AS THE FISCAL AGENT? $3,000 WAS AWARDED TO FIVE TEAMS, ACTUALLY FOUR TEAMS AT THE PITCH, SO THAT THEY COULD MOVE ON TO THE ACCELERATOR PROGRAM AND APPLY FOR THEIR LLCS. TONIGHT IT GIVES ME GREAT PLEASURE TO RECOGNIZE SOME OF OUR VOLUNTEERS FOR THIS PROGRAM, AND I KNOW I'M GOING TO GO AHEAD AND SPEAK FOR THE INSTRUCTORS.

THEY COULD NOT DO THIS WITHOUT THESE VOLUNTEERS AND OUR STUDENTS WOULD NOT GET WHERE THEY HAVE GOTTEN SO FAR WITHOUT THESE VOLUNTEERS.

SO NOW DR.

WALDRIP AND PRESIDENT ARCHAMBAULT, IF YOU COULD COME TO THE STAGE, PLEASE.

AND IF. SHARON WHITE, COMMUNITY OUTREACH LIAISON WOULD MEET ME HERE.

I'M GOING TO START WITH JAMARCUS LANGSTON.

HE'S THE INSTRUCTOR AT FRISCO HIGH.

AND WITH HIM, HOPEFULLY TONIGHT WE HAVE DARRELL DUVALL.

AND DARRELL, IF YOU'LL COME UP.

GO AHEAD. GO UP TO THE STAGE.

MATT AND SABEL WEIR, IF THEY'RE HERE.

YES. MATT'S HERE.

DR. WALDRIP.

MATT OWENS-DILLES.

JUST THOUGHT YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THAT.

I DON'T KNOW. JOSH WOODS? IS JOSH WOODS HERE? NEXT, I'D LIKE TO CALL UP A GENTLEMAN WHO HAS BEEN WITH US SINCE THE VERY BEGINNING.

HE'S VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT THIS.

AND I KNOW THAT CENTENNIAL HIGH SCHOOL INCUBATOR PROGRAM IS BETTER FOR IT.

SO IF TOMMY THOMPSON COULD COME UP, PLEASE.

TOMMY SERVES AS THE COMMUNITY CHAMPION, AND HE HELPS TO RALLY OTHER VOLUNTEERS TO ENGAGE WITH THE INCUBATOR PROGRAM STUDENTS THERE AT SEA.

THIS IS JENNIFER FLORENCE HERE.

ALSO TONIGHT, WE'D LIKE TO RECOGNIZE RICH ALLEN IF HE'S HERE.

TAMMY MINOR SAGAN, WHO WORKS WITH OUR HERITAGE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS.

[INAUDIBLE] WASN'T SURE IF SHE'D GET HERE ON TIME, BUT.

ALL RIGHT. SO THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH.

I KNOW THAT YOU GUYS HAVE PUT IN A LOT OF TIME.

THEY SPEND CLOSE TO AN HOUR A WEEK, IF NOT A COUPLE OF MONTHS, A COUPLE OF DAYS OF OUT OF THE MONTH VOLUNTEERING WITH OUR STUDENTS.

THESE STUDENTS ARE STARTING REAL BUSINESSES.

YOU CAN FIND SOME OF THEM ARE ALREADY GENERATING REVENUE.

AND WE'RE VERY, VERY THANKFUL TO YOU ALL.

DID WE GET A PICTURE? ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU, GUYS.

YEAH, MOST OF YOU HAVE.

YOU MIGHT WANT TO SIT DOWN WHILE I READ MY LITTLE VERBIAGE.

RIGHT. OKAY.

DID YOU PULL THOSE SIGNS? JUST THE ONES WITH CHECKS.

ALL RIGHT. ALL RIGHT.

NEXT UP, WE WOULD LIKE TO RECOGNIZE OUR 2019, 2020 AND OUR 2021 2022 FISD INSIGHT CLASS MEMBERS.

FISD INSIGHT IS A COMMUNITY EDUCATION FORUM DESIGNED TO PROVIDE A BEHIND THE SCENES LOOK INTO SCHOOL DISTRICT OPERATIONS TO FRISCO ISD STAKEHOLDERS IN EACH OF THE FOUR COMMUNITIES WE SERVE FRISCO, LITTLE ELM, MCKINNEY AND PLANO, FROM STUDENTS AND THE SCHOOL BOARD TO TRANSPORTATION AND TECHNOLOGY CLASSES, WILL ALLOW US TO SHED LIGHT

[00:40:04]

ON WHAT GOES INTO CULTIVATING THE SUCCESS OF OUR STUDENTS.

THE OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAM IS TO GENERATE AWARENESS AMONG STAKEHOLDERS.

BY SHARING THE STORY OF FRISCO ISD, CULTIVATING THESE RELATIONSHIPS WILL CREATE INFORMED CITIZENS WHO CAN HELP ADVANCE HIGHER LEVELS OF COMMUNICATION AND ENGAGEMENT AMONG FAMILIES, CITIZENS AND THE SCHOOL DISTRICT.

CLASS MEMBERS DEDICATE THEIR TIME ONE FRIDAY MORNING A MONTH TO ATTEND CLASSES FROM JANUARY THROUGH MAY.

APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2022-23 SCHOOL YEAR WILL OPEN IN NOVEMBER.

AGAIN, THIS GROUP OF COMMUNITY CITIZENS HAVE DEDICATED THEIR TIME TO LEARNING MORE ABOUT FRISCO ISD AND WE APPRECIATE THEM FOR THEIR DEDICATION TO THAT.

SO WE APPRECIATE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THOSE HOURS THAT YOU SHARED WITH US.

WE'LL MOVE ON TO ITEM FIVE DISCUSSION REGARDING PERFORMING ARTS CENTER PROGRESS.

[5. Discussion regarding Performing Arts Center progress]

DR. FOUCHE? I'D LIKE TO INVITE JOE WITH CORGAN AND ALLISON AND WITH CRBE TO COME UP TO THE MICROPHONE.

THEY'RE GOING TO GIVE YOU GUYS A PRESENTATION AND I'LL JUST DO A QUICK 30 SECOND HISTORY, IF YOU REMEMBER, OF FOUR YEARS AGO.

RIGHT NOW, OUR CITIZENS BOND COMMITTEE WAS MEETING ON THE 2018 BOND PROGRAM, AND OUR CITIZENS GROUP AT THE TIME VOTED ON EACH PIECE OF THE BOND PROGRAM.

AND YOU HAD TO GET.

WE HAD TO GET 80% VOTE FROM THE CITIZENS GROUP FOR IT TO MOVE FORWARD AND BE PART OF OUR BOND PROGRAM.

AND THIS ONE WAS RIGHT THERE AT THE 80% MARK.

AND WHAT OUR CITIZENS BOND COMMITTEE, IF YOU REMEMBER, WHEN THEY CAME HERE AND PRESENTED TO US, SAID, WAS, WE WANT YOU GUYS TO GO OUT AND EXPLORE PARTNERSHIPS.

WE'RE KNOWN FOR HAVING GREAT PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT.

AND IF IT'S IN THE BEST INTEREST OF KIDS, WE WANT YOU TO EXPLORE PARTNERSHIPS.

AND IF IT'S NOT, IT'S NOT, BUT WORK HARD TO DO THAT.

AND I THINK WE'VE DONE A REALLY GOOD JOB OF THAT WITH WHAT YOU'RE ABOUT TO SEE AND WHAT THEY'RE ABOUT TO PRESENT TO YOU GUYS, WHICH IS AN UPDATE OF WHERE WE ARE IN THE PROCESS

[00:45:03]

RIGHT NOW. THANKS, TODD.

MY NAME IS ALISON BAKER AND I'M WITH CBRE.

WE'LL JUMP RIGHT INTO THE KEY TEAM MEMBERS.

AS YOU KNOW, FRISCO ISD, THE CITY OF FRISCO AND HALL GROUP HAVE ENTERED INTO A MASTER DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS AND EXCUSE ME, VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS CENTER. CBRE, ALONG WITH THE PROJECTS GROUP, ARE THE PROJECT MANAGEMENT TEAM AND OUR DESIGN TEAM WAS ENGAGED FOR THE SPATIAL ANALYSIS ONLY PORTION OF THIS.

THEY ARE NOT YET RELEASED TO DESIGN.

SO THAT IS CORGAN AND STUDIO GANG.

AND WE'VE ALSO BEEN USING SCHULER SHOOK, WHO ARE THEATER PLANNERS, TO ASSIST IN A LOT OF THE SPATIAL ANALYSIS THAT YOU'LL SEE TONIGHT.

SO AS TODD SAID, THE ORIGINAL BOND PACKAGE, WE WERE LOOKING AT HOW TO EXPLORE PARTNERSHIPS.

WE WERE LOOKING FOR FLEXIBLE LEARNING SPACES, PERFORMING ARTS SPACES, AND TO ACCOMMODATE THE SCHEDULE FOR THE FRISCO ISD NEEDS. AND AT THAT TIME IT WAS SAID TO BE 160 DAYS.

I BELIEVE THAT THAT POSSIBLY HAS BEEN EXPANDED SOME.

AND AT THE TIME, THE 2018 BOND WAS APPROVED FOR 43 MILLION.

AND THAT WILL COME INTO PLAY WHENEVER WE DISCUSS BUDGET NUMBERS HERE IN A FEW MINUTES.

AND JOE HABER WITH CORGAN, PLEASE.

THANK YOU AND GOOD EVENING.

SO I WANTED TO TO START OFF BY ALSO IDENTIFYING THE THE SPECIFIC SCOPE.

AND AS ALISON MENTIONED, THIS IS THE SPATIAL ANALYSIS FOR THE POTENTIAL VENUE.

AND SO FOR US THAT REALLY.

STATED TO US THAT WE NEEDED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE NOT ONLY LOOKED AT THE RIGHT SIZE OF THE FACILITY IN TERMS OF SEAT COUNT AND SQUARE FOOTAGE, BUT ALSO LOOKED AT CONCEPTUAL BUDGET ESTIMATES AS WELL AS THE TIME.

IT'S THOSE THREE ITEMS THE SIZE, THE BUDGET AND THE SCHEDULE THAT WE ALL NEEDED TO COME TO TERMS WITH.

AND ON THIS SLIDE, JUST FROM A PROGRAMMATIC STANDPOINT, IN ORDER FOR US TO TO ENGAGE THE COMMUNITY AS WELL AS THE ISD, WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE WE INVITED AS MANY GROUPS THAT WE KNEW WERE GOING TO BE USING THIS FACILITY TO COME IN AND SPEND TIME WITH US SO THAT WE COULD UNDERSTAND WHAT THEIR NEEDS WERE.

AND WE DIDN'T.

THE QUESTIONS THAT WERE ASKED ARE REALLY TIED TO THE NUMBERS OF PRODUCTIONS AND THE SIZES OF PRODUCTIONS AND NOT NECESSARILY THE SPACE REQUIREMENTS.

SO GATHERING ALL THAT INFORMATION, WE WERE ABLE TO ASSESS THE INFORMATION AND START TO DETERMINE THE WHAT WE FELT WERE DIFFERENT SIZE OPTIONS.

AND SO AS I GO TO THE NEXT SLIDE HERE, THIS IS THE RESULT OF A LOT OF THE FINDINGS, AND WE'RE CALLING THIS OUR COMPATIBILITY MATRIX.

WHAT IT DOES IS IT ESSENTIALLY LINES UP ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE, THE USER GROUPS, AND WE START WITH THE FRISCO ISD FRISCO COMMUNITY GROUPS AS WELL AS THE POTENTIAL TO SUPPORT B AND C LEVEL COMMERCIAL PRODUCTIONS.

THESE ARE BROADWAY PRODUCTIONS AS WELL AS POTENTIAL TO SUPPORT A LEVEL COMMERCIAL PRODUCTIONS.

AND SO AS YOU SEE ON THE TOP MARGIN THERE, LEFT TO RIGHT, WE'VE GOT DIFFERENT SIZE SEAT COUNTS FOR EACH OF THESE VENUES.

WE'RE STARTING WITH 1250 SEATS MOVING UP TO 1500, 1750 AND 2000.

AND SO AS YOU TRACK THIS LEFT OR RIGHT, WHAT YOU FIND IS THE KIND OF THE APPROPRIATENESS, IF YOU WILL, OR THE FIT FOR EACH OF THESE USER GROUPS.

SO YOU'LL SEE THAT THE FRISCO ISD ON UNDER BOTH A 1250 AND 1500 SEAT COUNT, THOSE WOULD BE APPLICABLE AND THOSE WOULD WORK WELL FOR THAT GROUP.

AS WE START TO GET INTO LARGER SEAT COUNTS, WE FIND THAT IT WILL NOT WORK AS WELL.

AND PART OF THAT HAS TO DO WITH JUST THE SHEER VOLUME OF THE SPACE AND THE APPROPRIATE OF THE THE EXPERIENCE OF THE STUDENTS.

SIMILARLY WITH THE FRISCO COMMUNITY GROUPS, IT LOOKS LIKE THERE'S A A GOOD FIT ON BOTH THE 1250 AND 1500.

I WILL NOTE THAT MOST OF THESE COMMUNITY GROUPS ARE GOING TO BE USING THE COMMUNITY THEATER.

AND SO WE'RE PAIRING THAT WITH ABOUT 400 SEATS WITH EACH OF THESE SEAT COUNTS, THE SEAT COUNTS LISTED ABOVE OR FOR THE MAIN THEATER.

AND AS REPRESENTED DURING ALL OF OUR STUDIES, THERE WAS NO GROUP, NONE OF THE COMMUNITY GROUPS NOR THE ISD THAT HAD A NEED BEYOND WHAT WE'RE CALLING A 1500 SEAT MAIN THEATER THAT IS EQUIVALENT TO THE EISMANN AND THEN THE POTENTIAL TO SUPPORT BOTH B AND C LEVEL PRODUCTIONS. WE'RE SHOWING HERE THAT ONCE YOU GET INTO THE 1500 SEAT AND ABOVE, THOSE WOULD BE VIABLE USES.

[00:50:01]

AND AS YOU LOOK IN THE VERY BOTTOM LINE, THE A LEVEL COMMERCIAL, IT'S OUR ASSESSMENT THAT THAT THOSE LARGE PRODUCTIONS WOULD NOT BE VIABLE UNDER SMALLER SEATS.

SO YOU START TO GET INTO THE 2000 ABOVE AND THAT'S WHEN THERE'S A MORE APPROPRIATE FIT FOR THOSE THOSE KINDS OF EVENTS.

CAN WE ASK QUESTIONS AS YOU GO THROUGH IT, OR WOULD YOU LIKE FOR US TO WAIT TILL THE END? NO, PLEASE. WHEN YOU WERE SPEAKING WITH THE DIFFERENT USER GROUPS FOR THE A LEVEL COMMERCIAL USE, WHAT HOW MANY SEATS WOULD WE NEED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THOSE TYPES OF PRODUCTIONS FOR THIS FACILITY? YEAH. SO DURING OUR ANALYSIS, WE LOOKED AT ADDITIONAL VENUES IN THE AREA AND ALSO WHO'S ATTENDING, WHAT VENUE, WHAT SHOWS ARE GOING WHERE MOST OF THE A LEVEL PRODUCTIONS ARE GOING TO THE LARGEST FACILITIES IN THIS AREA, WE'LL CALL IT THE NORTH TEXAS MARKET.

SO FAIR PARK HAS ABOUT 3600 SEATS.

THAT SEEMS TO BE WHERE MOST OF THESE PRODUCTIONS RESIDE.

BASS HALL IN FORT WORTH.

IT ALSO HAS A FEW OF THESE.

BUT GENERALLY SPEAKING, THE A LEVEL PRODUCTIONS ARE GOING TO SEEK THE LARGEST VENUE TO MAXIMIZE THEIR REVENUE.

THANK YOU. I'VE GOT ONE ON THE COMMUNITY GROUPS HERE WHERE YOU'VE GOT THEM CHECKED OFF AT THE 1250 AND 1500 SEATS.

WHAT FEEDBACK DID YOU GET IF YOU KNOW OFF THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD ON THOSE COMMUNITY GROUPS AND WHY THAT WAS THE FIT THERE FOR THEM AS OPPOSED TO OTHER CAPACITIES? YEAH. SO AGAIN, MOST OF THE COMMUNITY GROUPS FOUND THEMSELVES UTILIZING THE SMALLER THEATER.

THEY'RE USING EXISTING THEATERS NOW THAT ARE OF THE 300 TO 500 RANGE.

AND SO WHEN WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THE PROGRAM FOR THIS SPACE, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THE MAIN HALL, WHICH IS, IN OTHER WORDS, THE 1250 UP TO THE 2000. AND THEY'RE ALSO TALKING ABOUT A COMMUNITY THEATER THAT'S OF A MUCH MORE DIMINUTIVE SIZE.

THE ORIGINAL, I THINK, BOND PROGRAM MAY HAVE ANTICIPATED A 250 SEAT.

AS WE STARTED WORKING WITH THESE COMMUNITY GROUPS, REALIZED THAT THE NEED BASED ON THOSE USER GROUPS WAS MORE CLOSELY ALIGNED WITH 400 SEATS.

AND AS FAR AS THE LARGER FACILITY GOES, THERE WERE A FEW GROUPS THAT WE SPOKE TO THAT WERE CURRENTLY USING THE EISMAN.

BUT THAT WAS THE LARGEST THEATER THAT WAS REPORTED AS USAGE, AND THERE WERE NOT A LOT OF THESE THAT WERE USING THAT.

BUT THERE WERE SOME. AND SO AS PART OF THIS STUDY AS WELL, WE WANTED TO LOOK AT CURRENT COSTS FOR THIS TYPE OF VENUE.

IT'S IMPORTANT TO NOTE, I THINK EVERYBODY IN THIS ROOM UNDERSTANDS THAT ESCALATION HAS BEEN AN ISSUE OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS RELATIVE TO SUPPLY CHAIN ISSUES, MATERIAL COST INCREASES. THERE'S BEEN A FAIRLY VOLATILE MARKET IN TERMS OF THE THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY.

AND SO THAT WAS TAKEN A CONSIDERATION AS WE LOOKED AT THESE COSTS AS WELL.

WE WANTED TO POINT OUT THAT, YOU KNOW, WE ALWAYS BELIEVE THERE ARE OTHER WAYS TO INFLUENCE COST.

AND THERE THERE ARE OPPORTUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE DESIGN PROCESS WHEREBY YOU MAY DETERMINE BETTER EFFICIENCIES, BETTER UTILIZATION OF SPACE IF YOU START TO SHARE SPACES INSTEAD OF BEING PROVIDING INDEPENDENT SPACES.

THERE'S ALSO THE ABILITY TO REDUCE OR DEFER SCOPE BASED ON WHATEVER TARGET BUDGET THAT IS PRESENTED.

AND THEN LASTLY, ALTERNATIVE DELIVERY METHODS THAT MAY SPEED UP OR ENHANCE THE CONSTRUCTION TIMELINE WOULD ALSO HAVE AN IMPACT ON POTENTIALLY REDUCING THE COST.

SO THIS NEXT SLIDE HAS A LOT OF INFORMATION ON IT.

I DO WANT TO WALK YOU THROUGH HOW IT'S FORMATTED UP AT THE TOP.

WE HAVE THE HEADINGS OF 1250, 1500, AND 1750.

THOSE ARE THE NOMINAL SEAT COUNTS FOR THE MAIN HALL AND RIGHT BELOW THAT ARE THE THE ASSOCIATED SQUARE FOOTAGES FOR THE FACILITY.

SO THEN ON THE LEFT HAND MARGIN, WE HAVE ESSENTIALLY TWO CATEGORIES.

THE FIRST AT THE TOP IS THE ELEMENTAL AND THEN BELOW THAT IS THE VARIABLE.

THE ELEMENTAL COSTS ARE THOSE ASSOCIATED WITH WHAT WE WOULD CONSIDER HARD COSTS FOR THE PROJECT MATERIAL COSTS, LABOR COST, EQUIPMENT, AS WELL AS THE CONSTRUCTION MANAGER, GENERAL CONDITIONS.

AND THEN THE VARIABLES BELOW THAT ARE MORE GENERALLY REFERRED TO AS SOFT COSTS.

WE DO HAVE CONTINGENCIES LISTED HERE.

WE'VE ALSO GOT FFA WOULD FALL INTO THE SOFT COST CATEGORY, TESTING, COMMISSIONING, THOSE KINDS OF THINGS THAT ARE NECESSARY BUT ANCILLARY TO THE HARD COSTS AS WELL.

PROFESSIONAL SERVICE FEES ARE INCLUDED IN THESE NUMBERS, SO WHEN YOU ADD THE SUBTOTAL FOR BOTH HARD COST AND SOFT COST OR THE VARIABLES YOU END

[00:55:10]

UP WITH THE 2022 PROJECT TOTAL, THAT IS THE TOTAL COST TO DELIVER THESE PROJECTS.

WE ARE REPRESENTING THIS IN BOTH A HIGH AND A LOW FOR EACH THE 1250, THE 1500 AND THE 1750.

AND THE DIFFERENCE IS THERE IS THE HIGH REPRESENTS A VERY CONSERVATIVE LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THE FACILITY AND THE FINISHES.

THE LOW IS REALLY A LITTLE MORE MAYBE A SORT OF VIEW OF HOW YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO REDUCE SOME OF THAT COST BY MONITORING SOME OF THE FINISHES, LOOKING AT, AGAIN, SOME OF THOSE EFFICIENCIES.

AND WE'VE GOT SOME CIRCULATION FACTORS THAT ARE PUT IN HERE AS PART OF THIS FORMULA.

SO IT'S FAIR TO SAY THAT THAT IT'S OUR BELIEF THAT THERE IS A RANGE PRESENTED FOR EACH OF THESE THREE DIFFERENT VENUE SIZES.

DOWN ON THE BOTTOM.

WE DO HAVE THE CURRENT FUND ALLOCATION FROM BOTH THE ISD CITY OF FRISCO AND HALL GROUP AND THAT FOR THE THEATER IS LISTED AT $67 MILLION.

SO AT OUR LOWEST SEAT COUNT, WE ARE SITTING AT A $68 MILLION DEFICIT FOR THIS PROJECT.

IF I'M DOING FAST MATH.

IS THAT? OKAY. I JUST WANT TO MAKE THAT CLEAR TO EVERYONE WATCHING AT HOME.

AND I DO WANT TO CLARIFY SOMETHING VERY QUICKLY.

YOU'RE LOOKING AT THE SQUARE FOOTAGES AND THE SQUARE FOOTAGE.

THOSE ARE PROBABLY LARGER THAN THE INITIAL BRUSH.

THE REASON BEHIND THAT, SO YOU ALL ARE AWARE, IS ESSENTIALLY WE ARE FUNCTIONING WITH TWO FACILITIES INSTEAD OF ONE, AND THAT MEANS WE HAVE THE LARGER FACILITY THAT WILL BE MORE ISD CENTRIC AND THEN THE COMMUNITY THEATER.

BUT IN ORDER TO ENSURE STUDENT SAFETY AND CONSIDERATION OF BACK OF HOUSE, FRONT OF HOUSE SEPARATION, RIGHT NOW THOSE TWO ARE ARE NOT FUNDAMENTALLY INDEPENDENT.

THEY WILL FLOW TOGETHER IN SOME AREAS, BUT FOR THE MOST PART THEY ARE INDEPENDENT TO ENSURE THAT COMMUNITY AND THE ISD IS SEPARATED.

THERE ARE SOME POTENTIAL EFFICIENCIES THERE AS WELL, BUT AT THIS TIME THOSE ARE A LITTLE BIT HIGHER THAN EXPECTED BECAUSE OF THOSE TWO INDEPENDENT BACK OF HOUSE FRONT OF HOUSE AREAS. AND IS THE VARIABLE IS THE VARIANCE IN COST BETWEEN THE LOW AND HIGH.

IS THAT MOSTLY.

FINISH OUT? I MEAN, IS THAT WHERE MOST OF THAT MONEY IS BETWEEN THE TWO, THE HIGH AND THE LOW? A FAIR CHARACTERIZATION.

AND WE SHOULD ALSO SAY THAT NONE OF THIS IS SUBSTANDARD.

THESE ARE VERY NICE FINISHES FOR BOTH SCHEMES.

I JUST THINK THAT THE LOW WAS A LITTLE MORE JUDICIOUS IN ITS USE OF SOME OF THE FINISHED MATERIALS.

GREAT. I JUST WANT TO BE CLEAR THAT THIS DOES SEPARATE THE PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY AND HALL PARK WITH THE PARKING GARAGE IN THE LAND, PIECES OF THIS.

THIS IS JUST SPECIFICALLY LOOKING AT WHAT OUR FIRST GRANTEES COMMITMENTS WOULD BE AND THEN THE COMMUNITY CENTER, IS THAT CORRECT? THAT'S CORRECT. YES. WE ARE SPECIFICALLY LOOKING AT THE PRIMARILY THE IMPACT TO THE ISD.

HOWEVER, YES, THE COMMUNITY THEATER.

SO WE'RE LOOKING SPECIFICALLY AT THE THEATER ALONE.

WE'RE NOT LOOKING AT THE PARKING STRUCTURE OR THE LAND.

PROBABLY YOU SAID IT ALREADY, BUT DOES IT ALSO INCLUDE THE COMMUNITY THEATER OF 250? AND WE DO HAVE A SLIDE HERE.

IF YOU GUYS ARE INTERESTED TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE FINISH LEVEL, POTENTIAL FINISH LEVEL.

WOULD THAT BE OF INTEREST TO YOU? YEAH, THAT'LL BE GREAT. LET ME HOP BACK HERE.

AND WE WERE JUST TALKING UP HERE.

WHAT? WE JUST WANT TO. ONE CLARIFYING QUESTION.

THE COMMUNITY THEATER THAT YOU'RE INCLUDING IN THIS QUOTE AND IN THIS PRICING STRUCTURE IS THE 400 SEAT.

IS THAT CORRECT? BECAUSE I KNOW WE STARTED WITH THE 250, BUT IT'S BEEN SHOWN WE NEED SOMETHING LARGER.

SO I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THOSE NUMBERS INCLUDED THE 400 ACROSS THE BOARD.

CORRECT. ACROSS THE BOARD.

THANK YOU. AND FOR CLARIFICATION PURPOSES, WE'RE BRINGING THIS TO YOU THIS EVENING AS INFORMATION THAT WE GATHERED.

WHAT WE'RE REPORTING IS THE DATA, THE DECISIONS HERE GOING FORWARD ARE YOURS.

BUT WE WANTED TO PRESENT YOU WITH THE DATA THAT WAS FOUND DURING THE SPATIAL ANALYSIS.

SO IF YOU'LL SEE THE SORT OF BENCHMARK LEVELS OF MATERIALS, WE ACTUALLY HAVE A LOW AND A MID, ASSUMING THAT THE HIGH IS PROBABLY A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN ANYONE WANTS TO STRETCH TOWARDS.

AND JUST GIVES YOU A VISUAL IDEA OF SOME OF THE FINISHES.

AND JOE, YOU MAY WANT TO SPEAK TO THE FINISHES.

JUST YEAH. JUST REPRESENTATIVE EXAMPLES OF WHAT THESE FINISHES MAY LOOK LIKE IF WE DECIDE TO PURSUE A LOW COST OR IN THE CASE IN THE BOTTOM MID COST, THE TOP LEFT IS THE AUSTIN ISD [INAUDIBLE] AND THEN THE TOP MIDDLE AND RIGHT ARE THE MOODY

[01:00:08]

PERFORMANCE CENTER.

THE BOTTOM LEFT IS THE WAGNER NOEL ISD I'M SORRY, PAC.

AND THEN THE TWO BOTTOM MID AND RIGHT IS RYDER'S THEATER AND THAT'S IN CHICAGO.

CAN I SAY SOMETHING REAL QUICK ABOUT THE WORD LOW, JUST AS SOMEONE WHO'S NOT A THEATER EXPERT? THE THE ONES WERE SAYING LOW ARE GORGEOUS.

I MEAN, YOU WALK IN THEM AND THEY'RE THEY'RE BEAUTIFUL.

SO I JUST WANT TO LIKE WHEN I HEAR LOW, I HAVE A DIFFERENT THOUGHT IN MY HEAD OF WHAT THAT MEANS.

BUT. I THINK I'M HEARING YOU SAY THAT THE LOW IN THESE EXAMPLES IS HIGHER THAN WHAT WE PUT INTO OUR HIGH SCHOOLS CURRENTLY.

SIGNIFICANTLY. YES.

YES. AND THE QUESTION WAS THE CAPACITY OF ICEMAN THAT YOU'RE REFERRING TO.

SEATS 1563.

DID YOU GUYS WANT TO SPEND A LITTLE BIT MORE TIME ON THAT? SORRY. OKAY.

SO MAYBE THIS IS FOR DR.

FOUCHE. SO THE NEXT STEPS ARE TO TO CONTINUE WITH THE PACK MEETINGS WITH THE PARTNERSHIP AND KIND OF TRY TO FIGURE OUT THIS DELTA.

YEAH. AND WELL, AND I WAS GOING TO SPEAK TO THAT.

ULTIMATELY, THE NEXT STEP IS TO DETERMINE THIS THE SCOPE THAT WE WANT TO PURSUE.

WE HAVE TO DETERMINE SEAT COUNT ON BOTH THEATERS AND AGREED TO THOSE.

AND THEN AT THAT POINT, UNDERSTANDING THAT THE NUMBERS THAT YOU HAVE SEEN TODAY ARE AN ORDER OF MAGNITUDE, MEANING THOSE ARE THE SPATIAL ANALYSIS.

THERE IS NO DESIGN IN FRONT OF YOU.

IT'S SIMPLY ASSIGNING SPACES AND GENERAL SQUARE FOOTAGE BASED ON STANDARDS AND NEEDS FOR THIS TYPE OF FACILITY.

THOSE ARE NOT THE FINAL NUMBERS THAT YOU SEE IN FRONT OF YOU, BUT IT GIVES YOU AN IDEA OF THE SCALE THAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT.

BUT IN ORDER TO REALLY COME TO THOSE NUMBERS, WE WILL HAVE TO AGREE TO THE SIZE AND SCOPE OF THIS FACILITY AND THEN ALLOW THE ARCHITECTS TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THE INITIAL DESIGN TO DETERMINE WHAT THAT BUDGET ULTIMATELY REALLY WILL BE.

I THINK I WOULD JUST ADD AND IT WAS WE THOUGHT IT WAS IMPORTANT JUST FOR COMMUNITY TRANSPARENCY TO SHOW THIS TO YOU GUYS TONIGHT. AND THEN I THINK COUNCIL'S GOING TO SEE IT AT THEIR MEETING NEXT WEEK AND THEN WE WILL CONTINUE MEETING, I THINK.

AND REALLY, I MEAN, THESE THESE NUMBERS ARE A LOT DIFFERENT THAN WHAT WE'VE TALKED ABOUT.

AND I THINK THEN TO DETERMINE IF IF THIS IS A VIABLE PROJECT, I MEAN, I THINK THAT'S ULTIMATELY NEXT STEPS ALSO.

YEAH. I MEAN, IT'S BEEN IT'S BEEN QUITE A WHILE SINCE WE'VE HAD AN UPDATE ON IT.

WE HAD THE JANUARY DEADLINE, BUT I DON'T THINK WE'VE HAD A PUBLIC PRESENTATION IN QUITE SOME TIME.

OKAY. REPORT.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PAC? OH, AND FOR THOSE WATCHING, WE'RE REFERRING TO THE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER, NOT POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE.

SO JUST FYI, THAT'S HOW WE'RE REFERRING TO IS THE PAC.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? NO, THANK YOU. WE APPRECIATE THE UPDATE.

ABSOLUTELY. THANK YOU.

WE'LL MOVE ON TO ITEM SIX INVOCATION, MR.

[6. Invocation]

OUR FIRST SPEAKER IS DANIEL STRICKLER, FOLLOWED BY [INAUDIBLE].

IT'S GOOD. GOOD EVENING.

MY NAME IS DANIEL STRICKLER.

I'M A SENIOR AT REEDY HIGH SCHOOL AND PRESIDENT OF REEDY HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMIC DECATHLON.

I'M SPEAKING TODAY ON BEHALF OF OUR ACDC PROGRAM ABOUT THE UNEXPECTED REMOVAL OF OUR HEAD COACH, MS. KATHLEEN SCHRANTZ.

ON FRIDAY, APRIL 22ND, WE WERE TOLD BY OUR PRINCIPAL THAT MS. SCHRANTZ HAD TRANSITIONED OUT OF HER ROLE TO FOCUS ON HER ART CLASSES.

THIS NEWS WAS COMPLETELY UNEXPECTED TO US.

MS. SCHRANTZ IS AN EXCEPTIONAL COACH AND MENTOR.

OUR TEAM, AND INDIVIDUAL SUCCESSES WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE WITHOUT MS. SCHRANTZ'S LEADERSHIP UNDER HER GUIDANCE AND PASSION.

THE REEDY ATHLETIC PROGRAM HAS BECOME A SUCCESSFUL, TIGHT KNIT, SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY THAT HAS DEVELOPED BEYOND JUST AN ACADEMIC CLASS OR AFTERSCHOOL ACTIVITY HIGHLIGHTED BY OUR STATE RUNNER UP FINISH THIS YEAR.

WHILE NEWS OF HER REMOVAL WAS UNSETTLING, IT WAS HOW THE COMMUNICATIONS HAVE BEEN HANDLED AND THE LACK OF ANY INFORMATION AND THE INABILITY TO DISCUSS WITH HER THAT HAS MADE THE ENTIRE SITUATION WORSE.

AS STUDENTS, WE REACHED OUT TO OUR PRINCIPAL REQUESTING TO MEET AS A TEAM.

BUT WE WERE DENIED.

WE FELT DISRESPECTED.

INSTEAD, WE WERE PULLED FROM OUR CLASSES AND CALLED INTO THE PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE BY GRADE LEVEL.

FURTHER, THE TIMING OF THE ANNOUNCEMENT WAS AWFUL.

IT WAS RIGHT BEFORE AP EXAMS AND THE WEEK BEFORE OUR NINTH AND 10TH GRADERS HAD THEIR BIGGEST COMPETITION OF THE YEAR.

AND JUST AS WE WERE PULLING TOGETHER THE CLASS FOR NEXT YEAR, WE BELIEVE THERE ARE BETTER WAYS TO BOTH INFORM AND SUPPORT STUDENTS IN DIFFICULT SITUATIONS LIKE THIS.

AS SOMEONE WHO HAS KNOWN MS. SCHRANTZ FOR SIX YEARS, I HAVE TAKEN THIS NEWS VERY PERSONALLY.

I AM SADDENED, SHOCKED AND UPSET AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FOCUS ON MY SCHOOLWORK OR MY SEVEN AP EXAMS BECAUSE OF HOW MUCH MS..

SCHRANZ MEANS TO ME.

AND I KNOW MANY OTHERS FEEL THE SAME.

I WORRY FOR THE FUTURE OF OUR PROGRAM NEXT YEAR AND BEYOND.

AND MS. SCHRANTZ IS NOT REINSTATED AS HEAD COACH.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

THANK YOU. OUR NEXT SPEAKER IS FOLLOWED BY FARHAN.

HI. MY NAME IS SHASHI VIJAY AND I AM A SOPHOMORE FROM REEDY HIGH SCHOOL.

I'VE BEEN INVOLVED IN THE ACADEMIC DECATHLON PROGRAM FOR TWO YEARS AND MADE THE TEAM THIS YEAR A FEW WEEKS AGO.

WE WERE GIVEN THE NEWS THAT MS.

[01:10:01]

SCHRANTZ WOULD NO LONGER BE THE HEAD COACH OF ACDC.

IN A FLASH, THE TEACHER WE HAD GOTTEN TO KNOW WAS GONE.

A WHIRLWIND OF EMOTIONS EMERGED INSIDE ME AND MY PEERS.

SHOCK, FRUSTRATION, SADNESS AND CONFUSION.

THE REASON FOR GROUNDING THIS IS VERY CLEAR MRS. SCHRANTZ IS AN ESSENTIAL PART OF THE ARCTIC TEAM.

SHE PAVED THE SUCCESS OF OUR TEAM AT STATE.

SHE PUSHED US TO DO OUR BEST, COMING UP WITH THE PERSONALIZED SCHEDULES THAT WOULD HELP US IN ALL OF THE EVENTS AND MOTIVATING US TO KEEP ON STUDYING.

WHEN WE FOUND OUT THE NEWS, WE WERE SURPRISED AT THE LACK OF TRANSPARENCY GIVEN TO US.

THE WAY IN WHICH WE FOUND OUT THAT MRS. SCHRANTZ HAD TRANSITIONED OUT OF HEAD COACH WAS IMPERSONAL AND CAME FROM THE WORDS OF OUR PRINCIPAL, NOT MS. SCHRANTZ HERSELF.

WHEN WE TRIED TO PRESS ON THE ISSUE, IT SEEMED THAT SOMEBODY WAS ALWAYS HIDING THE TRUE DETAILS FROM US.

IT FELT AS IF THE DECISION WAS MADE FOR US WITHOUT EVEN CONSIDERING HOW WE WOULD EVEN BE AFFECTED.

I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND THE GRAVITY OF THE SITUATION AND COULD PROVIDE US SOME INSIGHT.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

OUR NEXT SPEAKER IS FARHAN, FOLLOWED BY JADE.

HELLO, MY NAME IS FARHAN IQBAL AND I'VE BEEN IN THE ACADEMIC DECATHLON PROGRAM FOR THREE YEARS.

I WAS ON THE TEAM LAST YEAR WHEN WE GOT FOURTH AND FIVE AT TEXAS AND THE TEAM THIS YEAR WHEN WE PLACED SECOND AND FIVE AT TEXAS.

OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS, I'VE WATCHED MRS. SCHRANTZ BUILD UPON AND GROW REALLY ACADEMIC DECATHLON INTO A STATE POWERHOUSE.

AND THUS I'VE LEARNED THE INS AND OUTS OF WHAT MAKES A PROGRAM SO SUCCESSFUL.

THIS IS WHY I BELIEVE MRS. SCHRANTZ IS VITAL TO THE SUCCESS OF REALLY ACADEMIC DECATHLON.

THROUGH MRS. SCHRANTZ'S MENTORSHIP, STUDENTS HAVE GOTTEN THE CHANCE TO LEARN LIFELONG STUDY SKILLS AND HAVE ACHIEVED MUCH PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT.

HER INFLUENCE ON OUR PROGRAM AND ITS STUDENTS HAVE CHANGED MANY LIVES, INCLUDING MINE.

SHE COACHED ME TO BECOME THE INDIVIDUAL STATE CHAMPION IN THE VARSITY DIVISION, AND I'VE HAD SOME OF THE GREATEST MEMORIES OF MY ENTIRE HIGH SCHOOL CAREER BECAUSE OF MRS. SCHRANTZ. NOW THAT SHE IS GONE, THE VERY FOUNDATION OF ONE OF THE BEST ATHLETIC PROGRAMS IN THE NATION HAVE BEEN RIPPED OUT WITHOUT HER ENDLESS PASSION AND MOTIVATION FOR ATHLETIC AND HER DECATHLETE. I FEAR FOR OUR PROGRAM.

SHE'S NOT ONLY GUIDED OUR LEARNING, BUT HAS BUILT RELATIONSHIPS WITH EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US AS HELPS SO MANY OF US BECOME THE PEOPLE WE ARE TODAY.

THE AMOUNT OF GROWTH AND INCREDIBLE MEMORIES I HAVE GAINED FROM ACTING WILL STAY WITH ME FOREVER AND WITHOUT OUR HEAD COACH MRS. SCHRANTZ, I FEAR FOR OUR FUTURE.

IN THE FOLLOWING YEARS OF ACADEMIC DECATHLON.

WE'VE HAD SO MANY TEAMMATES, BOTH UNDERCLASSMEN AND JUNIORS WITH SO MUCH POTENTIAL.

BUT WITH THIS RECENT NEWS MRS. SCHRANTZ'S DEPARTURE, SO MANY OF THEM HAVE BECOME DISTRAUGHT, DEMOTIVATED, PLANNING TO LEAVE THE PROGRAM.

AND I BELIEVE THE FUTURE OF THE ARCTIC IS IN COMPLETE JEOPARDY, WHICH IS WHY I URGE THAT MRS. SCHRANTZ BE REINSTATED AS THE ACADEMIC DECATHLON REEDY HIGH SCHOOL HEAD COACH.

THANK YOU. JANE.

FOLLOWED BY ALLISON DARRELL AND THEN LINNEA ARTINIAN.

HELLO. MY NAME IS JADE HUANG AND I'M A JUNIOR AT REEDY HIGH SCHOOL.

A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO, THE REEDY HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMIC DECATHLON HEAD COACH WAS REMOVED FROM HER COACHING POSITION WITHOUT ANY PREVIOUS WARNING OR NOTICE REGARDING THE SITUATION, DESPITE BEING TOLD THAT SHE HAS TRANSITIONED OUT OF HER ROLE.

MY FELLOW STUDENTS AND I HAVE EVERY REASON TO BELIEVE THAT SHE WAS UNFAIRLY REMOVED.

HOWEVER, ONE THING I HAVE BECOME CONCERNED ABOUT IN THE PAST MONTH IS THE LACK OF TRANSPARENCY THAT THE DISTRICT AND THE SCHOOL HAVE OFFERED FOR BOTH STUDENTS AND PARENTS INVOLVED. I BELIEVE IT WOULD BE VERY BENEFICIAL TO EVERYBODY AT THE ADMINISTRATION WORKED TO PROVIDE A BETTER EXPLANATION OF THE RECENT EVENTS.

AS SOMEONE WHO COMPETED AS PART OF THE REEDY ACADEMIC DECATHLON TEAM THIS YEAR, I AND MANY OF MY PEERS HAVE EXPRESSED CONCERN REGARDING THE FUTURE OF OUR PROGRAM.

FURTHERMORE, I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE ALSO PARENTS CONCERNED WITH THEIR CHILDREN'S ACADEMIC ENDEAVORS WHO ARE ALSO FRUSTRATED WITH THE HANDLING OF THE CURRENT SITUATION.

WHAT THESE CIRCUMSTANCES HAVE REVEALED MORE THAN ANYTHING, IN MY OPINION, IS THE ADMINISTRATION'S WILLINGNESS TO COVER UP THE TRUTH.

AND AS A RESULT, I FEEL GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT TOWARDS THE ADMINISTRATION'S ACTIONS.

IF OUR DISTRICT'S MISSION IS TRULY TO KNOW EVERY STUDENT BY NAME AND NEED, AND I BELIEVE THE DISTRICT NEEDS TO BEGIN BY ADDRESSING ISSUES IN A MORE TRANSPARENT AND RESPECTFUL MANNER. AND FINALLY, I WOULD LIKE TO ASK THE BOARD TO CONSIDER THE REINSTATEMENT OF MRS. KATHLEEN SCHRANTZ AS THE HEAD COACH OF THE REEDY HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMIC DECATHLON PROGRAM.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND CONSIDERATION.

THANK YOU. HI.

I'M ALISON. DARRYL.

I FRISCO ISD MOM.

I REPRESENT WE THE PARENTS.

THE BOARD IS NEGOTIATING SUPERINTENDENT WALDRIP'S NEW THREE YEAR CONTRACT.

HOWEVER, UNDER DR.

WALDRIP'S LEADERSHIP, IDEOLOGIES AND POLICIES, OUR ISD IS EXPERIENCING SERIOUS ISSUES HIGH TEACHER TURNOVER, BURNOUT,

[01:15:07]

EXCESSIVE ADMINISTRATIVE BURDENS AND NONACADEMIC RESPONSIBILITIES.

EXTENSIVE SEXUAL IMMORALITY.

DRINKING, DRUGS. VAPING.

BULLYING AND FIGHTING BRAWLS.

WATERFALL GRADING WHICH ALLOWS FOR RETESTING UNTIL A STUDENT ACHIEVES AN ACCEPTABLE GRADE.

HOMEWORK IS OPTIONAL AND NOT GRADED.

NO WRITTEN TEXTBOOKS ELIMINATED.

MIDDLE SCHOOL AP CLASSES, AP ENGLISH CLASSES USING SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING PROGRAMING, WHICH IS A MASSIVE BREACH OF OUR CHILDREN'S PRIVACY.

AND IT IS EXCLUSIVELY THE PARENTS ROLE TO SHEPHERD THEIR CHILDREN'S EMOTIONAL AND SEXUAL DEVELOPMENT.

THE SEXUAL AND GENDER IDENTITY OF OUR CHILDREN IS NONE OF THE SCHOOL'S BUSINESS.

IT NEVER HAS BEEN, AND IT NEVER WILL BE.

ILLEGALLY DISTRIBUTING PORNOGRAPHY TO OUR MINOR CHILDREN THROUGH THE LIBRARIES, EMPLOYING A WOKE GAY ACTIVIST LIBRARIAN, DISPLAYING A GRAPHIC RAPE EXHIBIT AT REEDY HIGH SCHOOL, WHICH HAD A MANNEQUIN WITH BLOODY HANDS AND PORNOGRAPHIC BOOKS, CRITICAL RACE THEORY, ET CETERA.

THESE ARE SERIOUS ISSUES THAT MUST BE ADDRESSED FOR THE GOOD OF OUR CHILDREN AND AND OUR CITY.

IN THIS WEEKEND'S SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION, THE FRISCO CITIZENRY VOTED IN STEPHANIE ELLAD AND MARVIN LOWE.

WE HAVE DELIVERED A CLEAR VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE TO THIS BOARD AND TO DR.

WALDRIP. WE FORMALLY REQUEST THAT THIS BOARD HALT DR.

WALDRIP CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS UNTIL MS. ELLAD AND MR. LOWE ARE SWORN IN IN MID-JUNE SO THAT THEY CAN REPRESENT OUR VOICES IN THE SELECTION OF OUR NEXT SUPERINTENDENT.

THANK YOU. [INAUDIBLE], FOLLOWED BY LEIGH MONTGOMERY, WHO IS OUR FINAL SPEAKER.

HELLO. GOOD EVENING.

I WANTED TO SPEAK ON THE ISSUE OF MENTAL HEALTH AS IT IS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH.

WE HAVE SEEN A SIGNIFICANT RISE IN VIOLENCE, VAPING, DRUG USE AND APPARENTLY SEX IN SOME OF THE SCHOOL BATHROOMS AND OTHER PLACES . IN THE NAME OF EQUITY, ALL THE KIDS ARE PAYING THE PRICE WITH LOSING BATHROOM PRIVILEGES.

AND I'M SORRY YOU SIGNED UP TO SPEAK ON THE SUPERINTENDENT CONTRACT.

YOU ARE ENGAGING IN THE BAD BEHAVIOR.

HAVE ADMINISTRATORS IMPLEMENTING PUNISHMENT? SORRY. AT THE SCHOOLS FOR THE MASSES.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION.

I'M SORRY. THAT'S NOT. THAT'S NOT WHAT WE'RE.

WE HAVE RULES IN THE BOARDROOM.

AND YOU SIGNED UP TO SPEAK, WILL YOU? YOU CLICKED ON THE AGENDA ITEM THAT YOU WANTED TO SPEAK ON, AND YOU'RE NOT SPEAKING ON THAT.

SO IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK ON THE AGENDA ITEM FOR WHICH YOU SIGNED UP TO, THEN WE'RE HAPPY TO LISTEN.

THIS IS ABOUT BATHROOMS. WHY PUNISH? LEE MONTGOMERY, IF YOU'D LIKE TO COME TO THE.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INPUT.

I WOULD ENCOURAGE YOU TO COME AND SPEAK AT THE NEXT COMMUNITY INPUT MEETING, LEE MONTGOMERY, IF YOU'D LIKE TO JOIN US.

THANK YOU. WELL, YOU'RE DOING A GREAT JOB.

IF YOU ACTUALLY WANT TO MODEL HOW ADULTS SHOULD ACT PROPER DECORUM IN FRONT OF THE CHILDREN WHO ARE HERE, I WOULD ENCOURAGE YOU TO DO THAT NEXT TIME.

THANK YOU. LEE MONTGOMERY.

LEE MONTGOMERY.

NOW WE WILL MOVE ON TO ITEM NINE, A CONSIDER AND ACT ON APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM APRIL 11TH, REGULAR MEETING, APRIL 20TH SPECIAL MEETING AND APRIL 24TH.

YEAH, SURE.

GO AHEAD. JUST ON.

BEFORE THE STUDENTS LEAVE, I WANTED TO THANK THEM FOR COMING OUT TONIGHT.

GUYS, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I ALSO JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT ON A NON AGENDA ITEM LIKE THIS, WE CAN'T SPEAK TO SPECIFIC EMPLOYEES AND ALSO USUALLY EMPLOYEE MATTERS OR PRIVATE BY LAW.

SO DON'T MISUNDERSTAND OUR LACK OF RESPONSE FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO TELL YOU THINGS.

JUST WANT TO LET YOU KNOW THAT. THANK YOU FOR COMING.

THANK YOU. MOVE ON TO ACTION ITEM 9A CONSIDER AN ACT ON APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM APRIL 11TH.

[9.A. Consider and act on approval of minutes from April 11 regular meeting, April 20 special meeting and April 21 special meeting]

MR. CLASSE. SECOND.

MOVE ON TO ITEM B, CONSIDER AN ACTION RESOLUTION TO CONVENE THE SCHOOL HEALTH ADVISORY COUNCIL FOR FUTURE RECOMMENDATIONS OF SECONDARY HEALTH INSTRUCTION MATERIALS.

[9.B. Consider and act on resolution to convene the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) for future recommendations of Secondary Health Instruction Materials]

DR. CUNNINGHAM.

GOOD EVENING, MADAM PRESIDENT AND BOARD.

LAST MONTH WE PRESENTED THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE TEACHERS WORKING COMMITTEE FOR INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS, FUNDED BY THE INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS ALLOTMENT THAT WE GET FROM TEA. THESE MATERIALS WERE PART OF PROCLAMATION 2022 AND SPECIFIC TO HEALTH MATERIALS AND MATERIALS.

[01:20:07]

THE PRESENTATION WAS PART OF OUR NORMAL PROCESS, AS WAS POSTING THE MATERIALS AND TAKING SOME FEEDBACK FROM OUR COMMUNITY.

A FEW THINGS OF NOTE THE ELEMENTARY GROUP MADE A RECOMMENDATION SPECIFIC TO CLAVER FOR INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS.

THERE WAS ONLY ONE VENDOR THAT MET ALL OF THE REQUIREMENTS FROM TEA AND THAT WAS CLAVER.

OUR USE OF THE CLAVER P.E.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS WILL NOT INVOLVE ROSTERING OF ANY STUDENT INFORMATION.

AND PRODUCTS WITHIN FLAVORS LIBRARY OF MATERIALS RELATED TO SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING WILL NOT BE USED BY PE TEACHERS AS THAT IS NOT THEIR ROLE.

FINALLY, AS IT RELATES TO CERTAIN TOPICS IN THE HEALTH INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS RECOMMENDED BY OUR TEACHERS AND BECAUSE OF LEGISLATIVE CHANGES PASSED IN 2021 THROUGH SENATE BILL NINE, WE ARE OBLIGATED TO ASK THE BOARD TO CONVENE THE SCHOOL HEALTH ADVISORY COUNCIL OR SHACK TO PRESENT THE MATERIALS RELATED TO THE SET OF TOPICS INCLUDED IN THE LEGISLATION FOR THEIR OFFICIAL RECOMMENDATION TO THE BOARD AT A FUTURE BOARD MEETING.

SO TONIGHT WE'RE ASKING FOR YOUR APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION TO CONVENE THE SHACK FOR THE EXPRESS PURPOSE AS STATED IN THE RESOLUTION.

THANK YOU. BOARD, ANY QUESTIONS? IF NOT, I'LL LOOK FOR A MOTION.

I MOVE TO APPROVE THE RESOLUTION TO CONVENE THE SCHOOL HEALTH ADVISORY COUNCIL FOR FUTURE RECOMMENDATIONS OF SECONDARY HEALTH INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS.

MOTION BY MR. RUDY.

SECOND. SECOND BY MS. HERBERT. ALL IN FAVOR? AYE. MOTION PASSES 5-0.

WE WILL MOVE ON TO ITEM C CONSIDER AND ACT ON PERSONNEL RECOMMENDATIONS BOTH EMPLOYMENT AND MANAGING DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION, DR.

[9.C. Consider and act on personnel recommendations]

LINTON. THANK YOU.

THE PERSONNEL REPORT BEGINS ON PAGE ONE.

22 RESIGNATIONS ARE PRESENTED, FOR YOUR INFORMATION ONLY.

OUR RECOMMENDATIONS INCLUDE THAT OF JARED KASTER AS MANAGING DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION.

MR. KASTER BEGAN HIS EDUCATION CAREER IN 2012, STARTING AS A TEACHER COACH.

HE CURRENTLY SERVES AS DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION IN MELISSA ISD, A ROLE HE HAS IN WHICH HE HAS SERVED SINCE 2019.

ALL CONTACT RECOMMENDATIONS ARE SUBMITTED FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION AND APPROVAL.

I MOVE TO APPROVE THE PERSONAL RECOMMENDATIONS AS PRESENTED.

MOTION BY MR. CLASSE, SECONDED BY MR. RUDY. ALL IN FAVOR? MOTION PASSES 5-0.

CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYBODY.

WE'LL MOVE ON TO ITEM D CONSENT AGENDA.

[9.D. Consent Agenda]

BOARD, FEEL FREE TO PULL ANY ITEMS THAT YOU'D LIKE TO DISCUSS BEFORE WE TAKE ACTION.

IF NOT, I'LL LOOK FOR A MOTION.

I'M NOT GOING TO PULL AN ITEM, BUT BEFORE I MAKE A MOTION, I JUST WANTED TO MAKE A COMMENT ON THE.

ITEM 17 THERE AND JUST BE ON RECORD AS SAYING I FUNDAMENTALLY DISAGREE WITH THE COMMENTS THAT WERE PRESENTED THIS EVENING IN AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE SUPERINTENDENTS IN THE METROPLEX BY THE DOZENS HAVE RETIRED BECAUSE OF THE DIFFICULTY OF NAVIGATING THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS AND ALL THAT IT BROUGHT.

I BELIEVE THAT DR. WALDRIP HAS DONE AN EXCELLENT JOB AND I'M VERY HAPPY TO RENEW THIS CONTRACT.

SO WITH THAT, I'LL MAKE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE CONSENT AGENDA.

SECOND. MOTION BY MR. CLASSE. SECOND BY MS. HERBERT. ALL IN FAVOR.

MOTION PASSES 5-0.

DR. WALDRIP, THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED LEADERSHIP OF OUR DISTRICT.

WE SUPPORT YOU WHOLEHEARTEDLY.

THANK YOU. WE'LL MOVE ON TO ITEM 13 TECHNOLOGY UPDATE.

[10.A. Technology Update]

MRS. FOUCHE? HELLO. I'M GOING TO PRESENT FROM DOWN HERE.

AMANDA BUTLER COORDINATOR OF LIBRARY SERVICES AND I JUST WANTED TO FOLLOW BACK UP WITH YOU LAST TIME WE SPOKE WITH YOU.

WE SAID WE WERE ABOUT TO GO MEET WITH THE TEACHING AND LEARNING COMMITTEE OF THE DISTRICT ADVISORY COUNCIL.

SO TONIGHT'S JUST A QUICK FOLLOW UP FOR YOU ABOUT HOW THINGS WENT.

SHE WANTED ME TO SHARE WITH YOU THIS TIMELINE JUST TO SAY WE'RE STILL HARD AT THIS.

BACK IN NOVEMBER, SHE ACTUALLY CONVENED HER LIBRARY LEADERSHIP TEAM TO START CREATING DRAFT GUIDELINES AND MAKING SOME CHANGES AND UPDATES TO THE CURRENT GUIDELINES FOR NEXT YEAR.

IN MARCH, THEY ACTUALLY STARTED WORKING THROUGH THOSE GUIDELINES AS THEY WERE BEGINNING TO PLAN FOR THE OPENING DAY COLLECTIONS FOR MONETTE AND PANTHER CREEK.

APRIL SWUNG AROUND APRIL 26TH, I THINK IT WAS, OR THE 27TH.

WE WENT AHEAD AND WE MET WITH THE DISTRICT ADVISORY COUNCIL.

IT WAS A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL.

TRULY WAS. WE HAD.

I'VE GOT SO I'VE GOT LOTS OF INFORMATION FOR YOU TONIGHT ON HOW THAT ALL WENT.

AND THEN I'M PRESENTING TO YOU TONIGHT ON THAT.

MAY. LATER IN THIS MONTH, THE LIBRARIANS ARE GOING TO GIVE IT ALL ONE MORE GO.

[01:25:05]

AND THEN IN JULY, WE'RE GOING TO BRING IT TO YOU FOR LIKE THESE ARE THE FINAL UPDATES AND HERE'S HOW WE'RE ROLLING FORWARD.

WHAT SHE STARTED WITH WITH WITH THE.

DISTRICT ADVISORY COUNCIL THE OTHER NIGHT WAS JUST DIVING RIGHT INTO LOOKING AT THE ACTUAL GUIDELINES.

WE STARTED WITH THE BEGINNING OF THIS YEAR AND THEN WE WERE OUT WITH THE UPDATES.

SHE WENT THROUGH THOSE PRETTY THOROUGHLY WITH THE GROUP AND THEN SHE AND SHERYL HAD PRINTED HUGE POSTERS AND BROKEN OUT INTO SECTIONS. EACH OF THE NEW UPDATES TO THE COLLECTION GUIDELINES TO GET FEEDBACK.

WE GAVE EVERYBODY A CHANCE TO GET UP AND WALK AROUND AND YOU'LL SEE TEACHERS, PARENTS AND THEN SOME.

WELL, IT WAS AND SOME COMMUNITY MEMBERS.

I THINK EVEN ALL THE COMMUNITY MEMBERS WERE PARENTS.

MOST OF THE TEACHERS WERE PARENTS.

SO IT WAS ALL MIXED UP IN THERE TOGETHER.

WE LET THEM JUST WALK AROUND AND GO GO FORTH TO EACH OF THESE LITTLE SECTIONS AND JUST HANDWRITE RIGHT ON THE POSTERS AND THEN COLLECTED ALL OF THAT TO BRING BACK TO YOU TONIGHT AND FOR AMANDA TO USE BACK WITH THE LIBRARIANS.

ANOTHER REALLY COOL THING.

I DON'T I DON'T HAVE A PICTURE OF IT, BUT I WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU HEAR ABOUT THIS BECAUSE WE GOT SOME REALLY GREAT FEEDBACK FROM THE GROUP.

THEY REALLY ENJOYED IT.

SHE WAS ABLE TO ONCE WE WENT OVER THE COLLECTION GUIDELINES REALLY WELL WITH THEM AND THEY GAVE THEIR FEEDBACK.

SHE LET THEM GO THROUGH THE EXPERIENCE OF BEING A LIBRARIAN AND LOOKING AT A BOOK AND THE REVIEWS AND FOLLOWING ALL OF THE GUIDELINES AND ACTUALLY SEEING OK WOULD WE ADD THIS BOOK OR NO TO ONE OF OUR ELEMENTARY LIBRARIES? SO THAT WAS A GREAT THEY ALL REALLY, REALLY LIKED THAT EXERCISE.

I WAS WORRIED BECAUSE THERE WERE A BUNCH OF TEACHERS THERE, WEREN'T THERE? AND I THOUGHT, OH, THEY'RE NOT GOING TO BE INTO THIS BECAUSE THEY'RE, YOU KNOW, THEY'RE NOT LIBRARIANS, BUT THEY WERE WAY INTO IT.

IT WAS SUPER COOL. AND THE PARENTS REALLY LIKED IT, TOO.

THESE ARE SOME OF THE TAKEAWAYS FROM THAT GROUP THAT NIGHT.

THESE ARE ACTUAL THINGS WE PULLED OFF OF EACH OF THE POSTERS AS THEY WERE WALKING AROUND AND GIVING US FEEDBACK.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE FEEL LIKE HAS REALLY BEEN A SNAG FOR US IN THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS ON SOME OF THE BOOKS ENDING UP IN OUR LIBRARIES THAT WE DID NOT FEEL LIKE FOLLOWED OUR OUR EXPECTATIONS AS A DISTRICT AND OUR COMMUNITY'S EXPECTATIONS. A LOT OF THEM WERE REVIEWED BY A VERY SPECIFIC PUBLISHER TO BE AGE APPROPRIATE.

AND THE MORE WE LOOKED AT THAT AND HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT IT AS THE YEAR HAS GONE ON FOR CERTAIN TITLES THAT WE JUST DIDN'T FEEL GOOD ABOUT, NO ONE REALLY HAS ABOUT BEING IN OUR LIBRARY.

SO TOGETHER THE GROUP OF LIBRARIANS AND THE EVEN THIS TEACHING AND LEARNING COMMITTEE, THEY WERE ALL ON BOARD WITH ACTUALLY JUST REMOVING KIRKUS AS ONE OF OUR ACCEPTED PUBLISHER REVIEWS.

THE OTHER THING, IF WE.

ONCE YOU'RE IN, ONCE THESE BOOKS ARE REMOVED, IT'S EASY TO LOOK BACK AND SAY, OK.

WITH OUR NEW GUIDELINES, WOULD THIS HAVE KEPT THAT BOOK FROM BEING PLACED ON THE SHELVES? AND SO THAT'S KIND OF WHAT THEY'VE BEEN WORKING THROUGH ALL ALONG.

WE FEEL LIKE IF WE MAKE IT INCLUDE TWO REVIEWS RATHER THAN JUST ONE, AND ALLOWING ONE OF THOSE REVIEWS TO BE INFORMAL, THAT THAT WILL HELP AS WELL.

IN THE PAST, THERE WAS ONLY ONE FORMAL REVIEW REQUIRED.

AND THROUGH THE EXERCISE THAT WE DID WITH THE COMMITTEE THE OTHER NIGHT, THEY REALLY STARTED SEEING HOW YOU'RE JUST LOOKING AT A REVIEW AND YOU'RE TRYING TO MAKE THIS DECISION BASED ON A SUMMARY ANALYSIS THAT SOMEONE'S READING WRITTEN UP AND WHAT THE REVIEWERS HAVE SUGGESTED AS AGE APPROPRIATENESS.

THEY REALLY FEEL LIKE AND ALL OF US AGREE THAT AN INFORMAL ONE SUCH AS SHOOT.

IT JUST LEFT MY BRAIN.

I SHOULD HAVE HAD IT WRITTEN DOWN.

AND WHAT'S THE ONE WE ALL LOOK AT TO SEE IF MOVIES ARE APPROPRIATE? WE USE IT ALL THE TIME.

NOW. COMMON SENSE MEDIA.

COMMON SENSE MEDIA. THANK YOU.

WHAT DO I WIN? YES.

WHO SAID IT? IT WAS ME.

YOU SAY. I LOVE THAT SITE.

YES, I KNOW. I LOVE THAT SITE.

OUR COUNSELORS WORK WITH OUR PARENTS STARTING EARLY ON, EARLY ON AND SUGGEST THAT IS A REALLY GREAT SITE.

[01:30:01]

AND WHILE IT'S INFORMAL, WE JUST FEEL LIKE THAT CAN BE ONE THAT COULD BE INCLUDED ALSO AND SOME OTHERS.

THEY GAVE FEEDBACK ON THESE OTHER PIECES THAT YOU'LL SEE LAID OUT HERE ARE VERY SPECIFIC PIECES THAT WERE PART OF THE COLLECTION GUIDELINES MANGA THAT IS THAT GENRE THAT JUST REALLY IS TOUGH TO GET GOOD REVIEWS AND HAS AND WE'VE RUN INTO SOME SNAGS WITH IT.

IT'S GOTTEN US IN TROUBLE.

SO. YOU'LL SEE IN THE COLLECTION GUIDELINES LIKE THERE ARE, THE LIBRARIANS ARE WORKING ON THEM.

THEY FEEL LIKE THERE ARE SOME PIECES OF THIS WITH CERTAIN AGE GROUPS THAT LITERALLY THE BOOK JUST NEEDS TO BE READ BEFORE IT'S PUT ON THE SHELF COVER TO COVER WHEN IT STARTS SAYING THAT SOMETHING IS APPROPRIATE FOR 16 PLUS AND A REVIEW OR WHATEVER.

THEY JUST FEEL LIKE IT STILL SHOULD BE READ COVER TO COVER BEFORE IT'S PUT ON THE SHELVES.

AND SO YOU'RE GOING TO SEE SOME SUGGESTIONS LIKE THAT FROM THEM AS WELL.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IS SOMETIMES YOU COULD END UP GETTING SOME BOOKS IN AND THEN YOU READ IT AND IT'S NOT APPROPRIATE AND IT'S NEVER GOING TO MAKE IT TO A SHELF.

SOME PEOPLE WOULD SEE THAT AS A WASTE OF MONEY.

IT'S JUST ONE OF THE THINGS TO US.

IT'S KIND OF LIKE THE COST OF DOING GOOD BUSINESS FOR THE KIDS.

SO YOU'RE GOING TO SEE VERY SPECIFIC THINGS LIKE THAT AND THEIR SUGGESTIONS AND THEN THEY HAD WRITTEN OUT THERE ALSO DEFINING THE TERM SEXUALLY EXPLICIT BY USING THE TEXAS PENAL CODE IN THE ACTUAL DEFINITIONS FOUND THE GLOSSARY WITHIN THE GUIDELINES.

SO THOSE ARE SOME YOU CAN SEE THEY HAD A REALLY SPECIFIC FEEDBACK.

THEY SPENT A LOT OF TIME ON IT.

WE WERE WITH THEM LESS FOR.

A GOOD COUPLE OF HOURS THAT NIGHT.

YEAH. AND REALLY APPRECIATED EVERYTHING THEY HAD TO SAY.

THIS IS JUST SOME OF THE WE DID A LITTLE FEEDBACK FORM AT THE END.

THIS IS JUST I'VE INCLUDED SOME OF THIS FOR YOU TOO AND I'LL, I'LL PLACE THIS UP ON HOME BASE SO THAT YOU HAVE ACCESS TO IT.

BUT. DO YOU ALL HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? THIS IS KIND OF JUST A QUICK SUMMARY OF OUR TIME TOGETHER.

I JUST HAVE A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS.

THE FIRST ONE, WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE FORMAL AND INFORMAL PROCESS WHENEVER YOU'RE REVIEWING A BOOK OR WHENEVER YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A REVIEW OF THE BOOK? NOT PROCESS YOU SAID INFORMAL REVIEW AND THE INFORMAL IN THE FORMAL REVIEW.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? A FORMAL.

SORRY, I SHOULD HAVE BROUGHT MY WATER DOWN HERE.

A FORMAL REVIEW IS LIKE FROM A PUBLISHER.

LIKE COMMON SENSE MEDIA IS A WEBSITE THAT'S NOT A FORMAL PUBLISHER REVIEW.

DOES SHE? DID SHE USE THE WORD PUBLIC FOR.

IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. YES, IT DOES.

AND THEN THE SECOND QUESTION, THE BOOKS THAT THEY READ INSTEAD OF IF A LIBRARIAN IS TO READ IT AND IT'S DEEMED NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR OUR CAMPUSES, ARE THOSE BOOKS RETURNABLE? I GUESS IT WOULD PROBABLY DEPEND ON WHERE THEY.

PUBLISH THEM. I DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER TO THAT.

I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY WOULDN'T BE.

AND SO THE FORMAL RECOMMENDATIONS WILL BE.

PROVIDED TO THE BOARD IN THE SUMMERTIME, JULY OR AUGUST.

JULY IS WHEN WE JULY SCOPED IT OUT ON THAT INITIAL STRATEGIC.

INITIATIVE. WE BROUGHT THE OTHER NIGHT.

OKAY. PERFECT.

BOARD, ANY OTHER QUESTIONS FROM THERE? ROUNDING OUT NICELY, I FEEL LIKE THEY'RE GETTING CLOSE AS WE'VE GOTTEN FURTHER ALONG AND MORE PEOPLE ARE LOOKING AT THEM AND WE'RE GETTING MORE SETS OF EYES ON THEM.

WE WERE REALLY LUCKY THE OTHER NIGHT.

THERE'S THIS MATH TEACHER THAT WAS ON THE COMMITTEE.

SHE'S LIKE, WHAT'S LAUGHING? SHE'S A MATH TEACHER.

SHE WAS PRETTY YOUNG.

SHE WAS WAY INTO MANGA WHEN SHE WAS A KID.

SO SHE HAD THIS.

WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF THAT.

IT WAS REALLY INTERESTING TO GET HER HER PERSPECTIVE BECAUSE SHE YOU KNOW, IT WASN'T THAT LONG AGO WHEN SHE WAS AN AVID MANGA READER.

AND SO THAT WAS KIND OF COOL TO EVERYBODY ELSE WAS LEARNING FROM HER.

CAN I JUST MAKE A COMMENT? I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU, BECAUSE I KNOW THAT YOU GUYS HAVE GOTTEN BEAT UP OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS AND.

YOU PUT SO MUCH HEART AND EFFORT INTO MAKING SURE THAT OUR KIDS ARE TAKEN CARE OF.

AND YOU'LL PUT A LOT OF LOVE INTO GETTING THINGS.

[01:35:01]

FIXED. I KNOW IT'S TAKEN A LOT OF TIME AND RESOURCES AND I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU AND I WANT YOU AND ALL OF OUR LIBRARIANS AND OUR TEACHERS AND EVERYBODY TO KNOW THAT YOU ARE VERY APPRECIATED.

AND WE APPRECIATE THE EFFORT THAT YOU ALL PUT INTO IT.

AND WE APPRECIATE YOU ALL FIXING IT FOR OUR KIDS.

AND THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING THAT YOU HAVE DONE.

THANKS THE LIBRARIANS FOR SURE.

BOARD, ANY OTHER QUESTIONS FOR US? OKAY. THANK YOU, MELISSA.

WITH THAT BOARD.

WE ARE OFFICIALLY ADJOURNED.

THANK YOU TO OUR AWESOME OFFICERS FOR BEING HERE TONIGHT.

WE APPRECIATE YOU ALL AND THANK YOU FOR JOINING US THIS EVENING.
