IN FEBRUARY, APPROXIMATELY 2000 STUDENT PIECES ADVANCED TO THE STATE ROUND. 71 OF THOSE PIECES WERE FROM FRISCO ISD AND OF THOSE 71 WORKS THAT ADVANCED TO THE STATE ROUND, 49 RECEIVED MEDALS FOR EARNING THE HIGHEST SCORES. 19 OF THOSE PIECES OF THOSE 49 WORKS RECEIVED THE COVETED GOLD SEAL, WHICH IS THE HIGHEST HONOR BESTOWED BY THE TEXAS ART EDUCATION ASSOCIATION. SCHOOLS MAY SUBMIT FILMS IN THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES NARRATIVE DOCUMENTARY, COMPUTER OR DIGITAL ANIMATION AND TRADITIONAL ANIMATION. THESE FILMS RANGE FROM 30 SECONDS TO 7 MINUTES IN LENGTH. OUT OF THE HUNDREDS OF SHORT FILMS SUBMITTED ACROSS THE STATE FOR THE FILM THE UIL FILM CONTEST, FRISCO ISD HAD TWO STUDENT SHORTS SELECTED TO COMPETE AT THE STATE LEVEL OF COMPETITION. AT EACH LEVEL OF COMPETITION, A JUDGE AWARDS INDIVIDUAL ACTING AWARDS AS WELL AS SELECTING THREE PRODUCTIONS TO ADVANCE TO THE NEXT LEVEL OF CONTEST UP TO THE REGIONAL LEVEL, WHICH ONLY TWO SCHOOLS ADVANCE TO THE STATE LEVEL. AFTER A GRUELING COMPETITIVE CIRCUIT IN THE UIL ONE ACT PLAY CONTEST, FRISCO ISD HAD ONE OF OUR THEATER PROGRAMS THAT WAS SELECTED AS ONE OF THE TOP EIGHT PROGRAMS ACROSS THE STATE OF TEXAS TO ADVANCE TO THE FINAL ROUND, WHICH TOOK PLACE AT THE ROUND ROCK PERFORMING ARTS CENTER THIS PAST FRIDAY, MAY 6TH. ALTHOUGH THIS PRODUCTION DID NOT PLACE IN THE TOP THREE FROM ACROSS THE STATE, WE COULD NOT BE MORE PROUD OF THIS INCREDIBLE GROUP OF STAFF AND STUDENTS. CBRE, ALONG WITH THE PROJECTS GROUP, ARE THE PROJECT MANAGEMENT TEAM AND OUR DESIGN TEAM WAS ENGAGED FOR THE SPATIAL ANALYSIS ONLY PORTION OF THIS. THEY ARE NOT YET RELEASED TO DESIGN. SO THAT IS CORGAN AND STUDIO GANG. AND WE'VE ALSO BEEN USING SCHULER SHOOK, WHO ARE THEATER PLANNERS, TO ASSIST IN A LOT OF THE SPATIAL ANALYSIS THAT YOU'LL SEE TONIGHT. SO AS TODD SAID, THE ORIGINAL BOND PACKAGE, WE WERE LOOKING AT HOW TO EXPLORE PARTNERSHIPS. WE WERE LOOKING FOR FLEXIBLE LEARNING SPACES, PERFORMING ARTS SPACES, AND TO ACCOMMODATE THE SCHEDULE FOR THE FRISCO ISD NEEDS. AND AT THAT TIME IT WAS SAID TO BE 160 DAYS. I BELIEVE THAT THAT POSSIBLY HAS BEEN EXPANDED SOME. AND AT THE TIME, THE 2018 BOND WAS APPROVED FOR 43 MILLION. AND THAT WILL COME INTO PLAY WHENEVER WE DISCUSS BUDGET NUMBERS HERE IN A FEW MINUTES. AND ON THIS SLIDE, JUST FROM A PROGRAMMATIC STANDPOINT, IN ORDER FOR US TO TO ENGAGE THE COMMUNITY AS WELL AS THE ISD, WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE WE INVITED AS MANY GROUPS THAT WE KNEW WERE GOING TO BE USING THIS FACILITY TO COME IN AND SPEND TIME WITH US SO THAT WE COULD UNDERSTAND WHAT THEIR NEEDS WERE. AND WE DIDN'T. THE QUESTIONS THAT WERE ASKED ARE REALLY TIED TO THE NUMBERS OF PRODUCTIONS AND THE SIZES OF PRODUCTIONS AND NOT NECESSARILY THE SPACE REQUIREMENTS. SO GATHERING ALL THAT INFORMATION, WE WERE ABLE TO ASSESS THE INFORMATION AND START TO DETERMINE THE WHAT WE FELT WERE DIFFERENT SIZE OPTIONS. AND SO AS I GO TO THE NEXT SLIDE HERE, THIS IS THE RESULT OF A LOT OF THE FINDINGS, AND WE'RE CALLING THIS OUR COMPATIBILITY MATRIX. AS WE START TO GET INTO LARGER SEAT COUNTS, WE FIND THAT IT WILL NOT WORK AS WELL. AND PART OF THAT HAS TO DO WITH JUST THE SHEER VOLUME OF THE SPACE AND THE APPROPRIATE OF THE THE EXPERIENCE OF THE STUDENTS. SIMILARLY WITH THE FRISCO COMMUNITY GROUPS, IT LOOKS LIKE THERE'S A A GOOD FIT ON BOTH THE 1250 AND 1500. I WILL NOTE THAT MOST OF THESE COMMUNITY GROUPS ARE GOING TO BE USING THE COMMUNITY THEATER. AND SO WE'RE PAIRING THAT WITH ABOUT 400 SEATS WITH EACH OF THESE SEAT COUNTS, THE SEAT COUNTS LISTED ABOVE OR FOR THE MAIN THEATER. AND AS REPRESENTED DURING ALL OF OUR STUDIES, THERE WAS NO GROUP, NONE OF THE COMMUNITY GROUPS NOR THE ISD THAT HAD A NEED BEYOND WHAT WE'RE CALLING A 1500 SEAT MAIN THEATER THAT IS EQUIVALENT TO THE EISMANN AND THEN THE POTENTIAL TO SUPPORT BOTH B AND C LEVEL PRODUCTIONS. WE'RE SHOWING HERE THAT ONCE YOU GET INTO THE 1500 SEAT AND ABOVE, THOSE WOULD BE VIABLE USES. SO YOU START TO GET INTO THE 2000 ABOVE AND THAT'S WHEN THERE'S A MORE APPROPRIATE FIT FOR THOSE THOSE KINDS OF EVENTS. CAN WE ASK QUESTIONS AS YOU GO THROUGH IT, OR WOULD YOU LIKE FOR US TO WAIT TILL THE END? NO, PLEASE. WHEN YOU WERE SPEAKING WITH THE DIFFERENT USER GROUPS FOR THE A LEVEL COMMERCIAL USE, WHAT HOW MANY SEATS WOULD WE NEED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THOSE TYPES OF PRODUCTIONS FOR THIS FACILITY? YEAH. SO DURING OUR ANALYSIS, WE LOOKED AT ADDITIONAL VENUES IN THE AREA AND ALSO WHO'S ATTENDING, WHAT VENUE, WHAT SHOWS ARE GOING WHERE MOST OF THE A LEVEL PRODUCTIONS ARE GOING TO THE LARGEST FACILITIES IN THIS AREA, WE'LL CALL IT THE NORTH TEXAS MARKET. SO FAIR PARK HAS ABOUT 3600 SEATS. THAT SEEMS TO BE WHERE MOST OF THESE PRODUCTIONS RESIDE. BASS HALL IN FORT WORTH. IT ALSO HAS A FEW OF THESE. BUT GENERALLY SPEAKING, THE A LEVEL PRODUCTIONS ARE GOING TO SEEK THE LARGEST VENUE TO MAXIMIZE THEIR REVENUE. THANK YOU. I'VE GOT ONE ON THE COMMUNITY GROUPS HERE WHERE YOU'VE GOT THEM CHECKED OFF AT THE 1250 AND 1500 SEATS. WHAT FEEDBACK DID YOU GET IF YOU KNOW OFF THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD ON THOSE COMMUNITY GROUPS AND WHY THAT WAS THE FIT THERE FOR THEM AS OPPOSED TO OTHER CAPACITIES? YEAH. SO AGAIN, MOST OF THE COMMUNITY GROUPS FOUND THEMSELVES UTILIZING THE SMALLER THEATER. THEY'RE USING EXISTING THEATERS NOW THAT ARE OF THE 300 TO 500 RANGE. AND SO WHEN WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THE PROGRAM FOR THIS SPACE, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THE MAIN HALL, WHICH IS, IN OTHER WORDS, THE 1250 UP TO THE 2000. AND THEY'RE ALSO TALKING ABOUT A COMMUNITY THEATER THAT'S OF A MUCH MORE DIMINUTIVE SIZE. THE ORIGINAL, I THINK, BOND PROGRAM MAY HAVE ANTICIPATED A 250 SEAT. AS WE STARTED WORKING WITH THESE COMMUNITY GROUPS, REALIZED THAT THE NEED BASED ON THOSE USER GROUPS WAS MORE CLOSELY ALIGNED WITH 400 SEATS. AND AS FAR AS THE LARGER FACILITY GOES, THERE WERE A FEW GROUPS THAT WE SPOKE TO THAT WERE CURRENTLY USING THE EISMAN. BUT THAT WAS THE LARGEST THEATER THAT WAS REPORTED AS USAGE, AND THERE WERE NOT A LOT OF THESE THAT WERE USING THAT. BUT THERE WERE SOME. AND SO AS PART OF THIS STUDY AS WELL, WE WANTED TO LOOK AT CURRENT COSTS FOR THIS TYPE OF VENUE. IT'S IMPORTANT TO NOTE, I THINK EVERYBODY IN THIS ROOM UNDERSTANDS THAT ESCALATION HAS BEEN AN ISSUE OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS RELATIVE TO SUPPLY CHAIN ISSUES, MATERIAL COST INCREASES. THERE'S BEEN A FAIRLY VOLATILE MARKET IN TERMS OF THE THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY. AND SO THAT WAS TAKEN A CONSIDERATION AS WE LOOKED AT THESE COSTS AS WELL. WE WANTED TO POINT OUT THAT, YOU KNOW, WE ALWAYS BELIEVE THERE ARE OTHER WAYS TO INFLUENCE COST. AND THERE THERE ARE OPPORTUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE DESIGN PROCESS WHEREBY YOU MAY DETERMINE BETTER EFFICIENCIES, BETTER UTILIZATION OF SPACE IF YOU START TO SHARE SPACES INSTEAD OF BEING PROVIDING INDEPENDENT SPACES. THERE'S ALSO THE ABILITY TO REDUCE OR DEFER SCOPE BASED ON WHATEVER TARGET BUDGET THAT IS PRESENTED. AND THEN LASTLY, ALTERNATIVE DELIVERY METHODS THAT MAY SPEED UP OR ENHANCE THE CONSTRUCTION TIMELINE WOULD ALSO HAVE AN IMPACT ON POTENTIALLY REDUCING THE COST. THE LOW IS REALLY A LITTLE MORE MAYBE A SORT OF VIEW OF HOW YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO REDUCE SOME OF THAT COST BY MONITORING SOME OF THE FINISHES, LOOKING AT, AGAIN, SOME OF THOSE EFFICIENCIES. AND WE'VE GOT SOME CIRCULATION FACTORS THAT ARE PUT IN HERE AS PART OF THIS FORMULA. SO IT'S FAIR TO SAY THAT THAT IT'S OUR BELIEF THAT THERE IS A RANGE PRESENTED FOR EACH OF THESE THREE DIFFERENT VENUE SIZES. DOWN ON THE BOTTOM. WE DO HAVE THE CURRENT FUND ALLOCATION FROM BOTH THE ISD CITY OF FRISCO AND HALL GROUP AND THAT FOR THE THEATER IS LISTED AT $67 MILLION. SO AT OUR LOWEST SEAT COUNT, WE ARE SITTING AT A $68 MILLION DEFICIT FOR THIS PROJECT. IF I'M DOING FAST MATH. IS THAT? OKAY. I JUST WANT TO MAKE THAT CLEAR TO EVERYONE WATCHING AT HOME. AND I DO WANT TO CLARIFY SOMETHING VERY QUICKLY. YOU'RE LOOKING AT THE SQUARE FOOTAGES AND THE SQUARE FOOTAGE. THOSE ARE PROBABLY LARGER THAN THE INITIAL BRUSH. SCHRANTZ'S MENTORSHIP, STUDENTS HAVE GOTTEN THE CHANCE TO LEARN LIFELONG STUDY SKILLS AND HAVE ACHIEVED MUCH PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT.
